Note About 2-Speed Race Rules:
GTP OLR Rules

You follow these rules, just as you would in any other GTP OLR Rules race.
Except you're not concerned with competing against the other division for position,
just driving without incident with all the other cars on the track.
The important thing to remember, is to hold your line when overtaking,
or being overtaken, or going side-by-side with another car through a turn.
You are always responsible for your own car. And in the event that you collide
with another car, you are required to make CONTACT CONCESSION.
There is no excuse for not making contact concession.
It requires no speed, nor skill, nor a good handling car to slow down, stop,
and let the car you hit back ahead of you, as a contact concession!
It's NOT a race incident, if contact concessions are made! 👍

This event format is a new idea, and is meant to be a fun & challenging
training exercise in handling cars that have interesting handling,
in a variety of situations in quick succession.

If you have any questions about this event, the race procedures, or the rules,
feel free to ask in this thread, or ask the VCRC race stewards for this event:

Or just test out this race format...

I am interested in racing the Sunday timeslot. My psn is sagarismic. I am very clumsy and slow but I hope you'll have me.

You are welcome! :embarrassed:)
I'm not the most tidy driver myself.
But I am interesting in racing clean & fair, and getting better at that.
That's exactly what this is about! We're all pretty much clumsy in the clumsy unmodified road cars... until practicing a bit!

I have noticed that since driving the cars with, shall we call it "interesting handling"... I've become better in all cars. :sly:

Thank you.

Likewise. I've also been trying hard to improve my race craft in traffic, but it's not easy. It's a big jump from racing AI with loose morals to racing human beings that you must respect. You can't just pull alongside to pass anytime like you do with AI, so following closely and being patient become the order of the day. I've been struggling to adjust my lines and braking points when following other drivers (especially with the new dirty air effect of GT5) as I started racing GT5 online, but I think I'm improving.

Okay, tell your pals! :D

And it will be good if we get a range of drivers with varying abilities. 👍

Of course, most people's ability is varying from mine... toward faster & more tidy.

I just did a quick test run on Manje Bene with the Stratos. All i can say is there is going to be chaos when we are all there together.

Just a check to see how close I am to the pace of others my best lap time from a 3 lap run was 2:42.426

I want to work out how much practice I am going to need.

:mischievous: That's the idea of a Contact Avoidance Tournament. :sly:
I want the chance to sharpen my skills in carmageddon avoidance!!

It's a handful isn't it?
I find it fun. Though I'm probably the only person who gets gleeful when I get the Stratos in a shuffle race. I can be sure if nothing else, that I won't be bored. LOL
(I also get happy in shuffle races when I get the Yellow Bird or Vanquish - and most people complain about those - but they're fast!!!)

I haven't actually done any formal hot lap practice on the track... as I think it's doubtful I'll get that much chance to do any ideal lines in these races. LOL But I'll be sure to note it when I do some straight out laps.
I have, however, been practicing the course a tad with the G4 already, because we're using it in the G4 race.

But as a reference point, Cote & I did a test race to judge timing... 2 lap race took about 6 minutes. That's taking into consideration a grid start on lap one obviously.

Oh, and please contribute to add your lap time to the Reference Laps thread in the VCRC forum.
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/group.php?do=discuss&group=&discussionid=2585
RDAardvark the whiz is setting up a form we'll be able to use to record lap times, and have an easy way to have reference.

At any rate, there will be divisions in this event, and with dodgy handling cars and damage light, caution will be rewarded. :) So no one should worry overly about not getting super great lap times. 👍 Thinking on the go is often a larger part of 2-speed-traffic racing.

Glad to see you checking in turbogeit!

I know turbogeit has some experience with 2-speed-traffic racing, and had some very good tips! :D

I want to sign up for

Monday March 12th @ 7pm PST / 10pm EST / (Tues 3am GMT) / (Tues 4am CET)

I was wondering; Is it possible to load someone else ghost?
The idea would be to load a fsater driver ghost and learn about breaking point and lines in the turns. That would be great coatching.
At this point I do not even know how to reload a best lap ghost from a previous session of my own ghost, so this might not even be possible with GT5 at this time.
What do you guy's think.

I am presently having fun in VCRC lounge.

WELCOME!

Hi Watermelon can I sign up to this please.

Yes you can indeed!!! :D

Which event(s)???
And what's your PSN name... ?
And please send FR to PSN: VCRC
(And FR PSN: miata_1 to get the track - you can delete him as a friend afterward if you like, he won't be offended)

Any questions... let me know! :)

To load your own ghost, you have to save it... It gets saved like a replay.
Then, when you go back into practice, there's an option to load your ghost.
This happens once you're in the track.

Can you load someone else's ghost?

I'm not sure.
But if you could, I think you would have to get it via a thumb drive or something... there's no way to send it inside gt5 or over PSN, that I know of...

I could be way off here though.
I think you can watch someone else's loaded replay that way.
JUST so long as their GT5 game is the same "region" as yours.

Yes, watching some one else replay, using a transfered file over the internet via USB stick.I have done that at GTP_WRS to check for ligit entry.
Can the same be done with a ghost?

I can't find anything in the Q&A forum about this...
I don't know anyone who's ever mentioned doing it.
You would think it would be something very useful that people would use if it were possible...

You need to go into the replay theatre in GT5 and use the export button (Bottom left-ish). This then puts the replay into the gamesaves section of the XMB. From there it can be transferred to USB and transferred to another PS3.

Once it's in the XMB of the other PS3, you need to import it to GT5.

So you'd need to send/receive via e-mail.

Yeah I've been meaning to add events from there, but it doesn't seem like people are using it! :(
I will add them though.

There's a thread in the VCRC forum:
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/group.php?do=discuss&group=&discussionid=2526

And there's the open forum VCRC thread which I try to keep up to date with scheduled events:
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=209408

:)

Otherwise, I generally post the event dates at the top of event threads, try to keep them very visible.

I use the forum thread-subscription function, which is very useful for keeping tabs on race threads. 👍

The forums have a calendar.

Yes it does 👍, but I could not see VCRC events in it, so I was wondering if we had an other calendar specific to VCRC.

I also try to keep track using the subscribed feature, if there is no calendar with VCRC events, I will manage other wise, no problem.
