VCRC Vintage Sprint Tournament - complete...

Welcome!

@ kcheeb: LOVE THE AVATAR. lol :)

And anyone still in need of cars... Do an inventory, and then post here with the ones you still need.

I definitely have a spare Stratos. (probably less than 30,000 miles). It's the orange one in the OP's photo. (You can, of course, repaint it. ha!)

Not sure I have a spare Mini un-mucked-with.
Might have an Elan (maybe even 0/0 miles).
The Alpine, I don't have, but if someone needs one I could probably do the Bspec Amateur Series Tous France on the VCRC account & win one to send from there. :)
Have to look on the cat's account & see if there's an Alfa Romeo in there... I think it was in the OCD at some point...

I have 1 spare alpine & several of all the rest. All free to good homes. most are fairly high mileage though.

Thanks jack!

Yes, I love that cartoon. (I should admit, bender2011 called my attention to it. hahaha. So I AM a copy cat. LOL)

All this talk of lap times & such... (I see some have been posted for manja bene in the VCRC forum - reference lap times)

It's going to be important to remember that like Mike said, there will be a bit of 'chaos' on the track at times when we get on it with the different cars, and it won't always be possible or prudent to take an "ideal line"... or even attempt a safe pass at many points.

That said, we're going to be in pretty slow cars on the tight London track... and the Manja Bene track is plenty wide enough for these cars, even a bundle of them.

But it will probably still be important to not drive as if someone's taken your mother hostage & is holding her at the finish line.
My guess is, the person who drives the least like they're hopped up on goofballs, will likely come out ahead. :sly:

Put me down for the Sunday time slot...

Naptown25rs / NCemtB

All cars are a shade of white for the body color and a very loud shade of red, blue or orange for the wheels... Except for the Mini which is red with gold wheels.

I now have a pristine new 0miles Alpine in the VCRC account, for anyone who needs it. First come, first served. 👍

Another driver who wants very much to be seen. 👍

I've decided if this event turns out to be fun, educational, & entertaining... then the next stop will be Cote D'Azur & The New Ji-Feurre Pass (mt. aso tarmac by cc570) in the Jaguar E-TYPE Coupe ‘61 & Volvo 240 GLT Estate ‘88

I've always been partial to racing white vehicles with colored wheels... The old Mini just looks bad in white because the roof and stripes remain white as well if you repaint it... Even my daily driver in real life ('00 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS) is white with gold wheels.

I am not driving the Volvo. ever. LOL

I'd love to race the Volvo as my mum had one when I was a kid.

It was a b****y tank, several cars were written off due to crashes with it. But the Volvo kept going.

I'm trying to think of awkward cars with interesting handling... lol

I mean I don't know if I'll ever be able to top sticking the stratos on a toscana tarmac. haha.

But yeah, I think the Volvo Estate wagon is possibly the most bizarrely unattractive car available in gt5. But for some reason, that makes me want to try racing it. :sly:

I have a penchant for the odd. :odd:

If I could've afforded it, I would've gotten a current Volvo wagon. Instead, I got a second generation xB, also known as the Rumion. Before this, I had an Impreza wagon.

I guess in GT nomenclature, it would be: Scion xB '08 and Subaru Impreza Outback Sport '97.

For that matter, I've never had a car with an even number of doors. Before the Impreza, I had a five-door Camry (Toyota Camry LE 5-Door '83) and before that a three-door Corolla (Toyota Corolla SR5 Liftback '78).

Odd is good.

Odd is good.

👍 👍 👍 👍 👍

Yeah, I purchased the xB from my UCD the other day... it looked like an interesting car I'd like to try... because yes, it does look like a kind of odd family car... and putting it on a race track just seems like fun. hehe.

IRL: I drove my friend's Outback, and I was pleasantly surprised considering what I was expecting.

I've got all the cars i need now. Thanks to all who shared with me. And i spent 75k CR *5 to paint them the colour i wanted xD

Did a race at Monaco with stock e types ....think johnwells was in it too. Would highly recommend it. Owned an ancient Volvo saloon at one stage. It was like sitting in your lounge driving! Did about 150 yards to the gallon.

Can I race in Sunday and Monday. Would have done all 3 but 3.30 in morning just to early:boggled

That's why we're having 3! :)

I can relate... There's no way I'd be racing @ 9am GMT Saturday morning... heehee (that would be 4am to me.)

Okay, so who still needs cars?

Let me know.
I have a spares of: Alpine, Elan, Alfa, & Stratos

If you need the Alfa, send a FR to PSN: amoreenabooboo
If you need the Stratos or Elan, make sure you have me added PSN: wat3rm370n
If you need the Alpine, there's one I can send from PSN: VCRC

I do not have a spare Mini left, but I think at least one other person here does, and I know someone else who might be able to help out as well.

Just 2 or 3 days left for sending 1-car-per-day, to anyone who needs.
So get your requests in soon.

Also, let's get a few more drivers, if we can. :) I've done all I can at this point to promote it to everyone I thought might be interested. Now it's up to you guys to invite your pals!!

Again, if they're in need of a car, we'll find a way to get everyone fixed up with the cars! :)

I'm in for the Sunday event as well. PSN id is culturalsnow. Not an experienced online racer but clean and gentlemanly! :)

Just need to add the Toscana track.

Welcome!

The track is shared on the VCRC acct.

I'll get your FR accepted as soon as possible on PSN: VCRC

And this event is no experience necessary.
As long as you can read the GTP OLR rules and ask any questions if you have any, and then drive the cars around the tracks in a reasonably sane manner, that's all that's needed.

And I can almost guarantee everyone who participates in these races will come out wiser & more experienced than from the average racing situation. :sly: And probably well entertained as well.

Just sent FR to VCRC.

I can commit tentatively to the Monday evening event as well, but it depends on how crippling my commute "race" turns out to be after work!

 :ouch: I see your location as LA... so I understand. :sly:
And this was years ago... but I once took an airline flight from Ontario CA to San Fran, lift off was about 5am or something ridiculously early. And there we were at 5am, and the guy next to me, California native, said he was able to "sleep in" that morning, as he usually had to get up earlier to commute to work. :scared: I asked him how long his daily commute was, and he told me 3+ hours (one way). So that was over 6hrs per day of commuting time.
To me, that's an endurance race. I would have to plan a pit stop for that commute.

I'll pencil you in there for Monday all the same, and if you can you can, and if you can't, you can't.

Just FYI, I've got a fair number of Minis, including a few with less than 15K. If anyone needs one, you can point them to me.

Thanks!

So if anyone needs a car, the following people have offered that they can help out:
watermelonpunch (all except mini)
SagarisGTB (mini)
jackargent (all)

Hi!

I want to join!
GTP Name / PSN Name / Event(s)? (Sunday, GMT, EST)
jammy21 / GTP_Jammy / Monday March 12th

Welcome jammy21... I'm assuming you want the 1st event on Monday (GMT schedule)... since you're in Helsinki. :)

We've also got 2 more people interested who are searching for the cars.

I've offered to send a Stratos to one today.

The other wants to participate in the Monday EST event, and needs Alpine, Elan, & Stratos.
I can send the Alpine or Elan Sunday & Monday...
So I need someone to send him the Stratos today.
