VCRC Vintage Sprint Tournament - complete...

After trying these cars, I have come to the realization that I have no interest in driving the Alpine on the Eiger short track. Its not fun imo.

:)

Yeah, you go to community. Click on the VCRC icon... as you would other friends.
Then you click on the coffee cup.

NO YELLOW PEOPLE ICON WILL SHOW.
You have to click on the coffee cup, and it'll show you if people are in there.

The yellow people icon doesn't show because the VCRC acct won't be in there... if that makes any sense. It won't even be online.

Agreed... Between the unpredictable handling and the gear ratios, it's not enjoyable.

๐Ÿ‘ :)

Just a note: I don't think any of these cars are "enjoyable" on any of these tracks in the sense of a joy to drive.
I chose them deliberately that way. :odd: :guilty: :mischievous:
They're all the complete opposite of say... the RX-7 Asparadrink GT300.

But I think it will be entertaining.

That said, I'm the person who gets excited & happy when I get the Stratos, Vanquish, or Yellow Bird in a shuffle race. :guilty:

"Others mileage may vary." heehee :mischievous:

I'm really enjoying the Alpine. Definitely not laser precise like today's sports cars. Can't imagine driving one of these on the limit on icy roads.

The Bimmer from last week had unpredictable handling and was definitely a hand full, but it was a blast to drive... This car is just no fun at all on Eiger... Not so bad on the other tracks.

Yet... what I think is interesting is that, I do think it's fun at Eiger... and yet my prediction is that you'll beat me all the same.

I wish people would be more specific about this...
(Especially when the planning starts out. Ahem.  )

He is however terrified of the lancia

Any right thinking racer would be.

I reckon we have all been sucked into a hole in the fabric of the space-time continuum.
Okay, this I have to see. Let me get some popcorn.
And... gravity is just a theory. Go!

I happen to like the gravity part. Things coming together... I stick to the planet. ๐Ÿ‘ All good.
It's the time dilation issue that ticks me off.
But I find solace in the fact that even Einstein would've preferred a steady state theory. ;)
I know 2 + 2 = 4. I just don't like it. ;)

If I have this much problem with converting time zones, and being ill-prepared for differences in changes around the world for Daylight Savings Time...
Could you ever imagine what would happen if I was put in charge of calibrating the satellites for GPS systems??? :scared:
You think your nav system is unreliable now... :nervous: :ill:

If you think of those "time issues" let's call them... It really is a wonder they work at all.

I sure wouldn't want the job of figuring that out. :dopey:

I haven't driven any of these cars on these tracks, yet. I haven't even seen the custom track at all. I'll be at a huge disadvantage, I'm sure.

Not that it will affect the outcome.

I happen to like the gravity part. Things coming together... I stick to the planet. ๐Ÿ‘ All good.
It's the time dilation issue that ticks me off.

Gravity affects time. Just like speed does.

So, the two synchronized atomic clocks, on high above the Earth and one at the surface, will tick at different rates. The one on the surface will tick slower.

Put one of these clocks on a bullet train and leave the other at the station. The one on the train will tick slower.

Gravity and time are related. The question is, how exactly. Particularly since we still can't prove gravity. We can't tell what causes it. Perhaps mass bends space. That creates the effect of gravity, because we slide down the slope of bent space toward the mass. Perhaps it is bending time, too.

I could ramble on about it forever. There is an cost prohibitive experiment that scientist want to do that involves bending spacetime with a powerful laser. The idea being, they could create a small time loop. The could build a computer around this. One that answers the question immediately after you ask it, regardless of the fact that it may take hours or days to compute.

great racing tonight

thought this format really worked - allowed me to beat people who would normally be lapping me :)

just wish we could avoid the connection/visibility issues.

What did the rest of you think? worth repeating?

p.s. a big well done to watermelon for dealing with the timeshift thing & getting the show on the road ๐Ÿ‘:cheers:๐Ÿ‘:P:D

I enjoyed the "class" format, it was fun running a lowered powered car against a higher powered car... Definitely made for a challenge!

I wouldn't mind seeing this again, and I'll make sure all of my cars are bone stock before I try to use them for a race... :dunce:

Well done to melon for setting it up and dealing with the ever popular network issues that seem to like causing problems in this series.

Hi guys! Great fun races!! Couldn't get a chance to say so during the races, or much because there was quite a bit to deal with... and I was pressed for time.
(Had to leave directly afterward.)
TIME!!!! :grumpy: (Don't start garris!!! Don't you get me started!)
Wish PSN issues would go away please! :boggled: Thanks everyone for being patient & helpful.
And sorry cc570 had some problems during race #1... he sent me a note. Which I didn't get a chance to reply until now.

But even with the bad luck, and the Race #1 kind of being mucked up a bit... It was mainly just to sort out the dividing up of people into the separate cars, so that things would work out... so it worked out okay, I think.

Will post results & maybe some photomodes in a little bit. :)

All & all, I think it was a successful venture.
I enjoyed it. And I think most had a pretty good time with the races. (I hope!)
Definitely a challenge with different models on the track together behaving quite differently. I knew that was going to be fun, because the WSCC "Racing School" races were fun - that was a 2-class with maxed out RM Capps vs. GT300s, and everyone switched halfway through.
The 2-speed thing, but with closer cars, is, I think, interesting in different ways too.
As well as an informative experience.

And definitely an interesting twist with the RGO and divisioning... I think it worked to be as fun as I hoped... Plus, I was able to see if what I imagined would happen... and it did to some extent... Plus some surprises.
So thanks to all for being test subjects for the 1st run of this. ;)

And any thoughts are welcomed, as to make for ideas, & betterment in future race schemes. ๐Ÿ‘

Thanks again, watermelonpunch, for hosting and keeping your cool with all the glitches. Also feel I should apologize for accidentally starting the first race and throwing a wrench in the works. Not a great way to start my first race. My inexperience with online racing showed and I completely ham-fisted the menu options while in the pits. Sorry to all for gumming things up!

Despite the rocky start, everyone was great on track and it was a good challenge for me. You guys are some amazing drivers! Looking forward to the next time.

Great photos Watermelon!
These shots capture the highlight of my day: holding off and battling the Elans with my Blue Mini. Really good fun. Everyone was really good on track today. I hope I wasn't too rough out there, I try to be ruthless but fair. :)

On another note, my Monday night is suddenly open and I don't know what to do with myself. Would you mind If I tried it all again?

Can't wait for tonight, folks - looks like a lot of fun.

Anyone out there have an extra Mini they could spare for tonight's festivities?
