Hi guys

Since Saison 9 it feels like i cant have a single fair Race anymore witch was totaly possible in 90% of Cases from Saison 1-8.
Do others have the same experience?
It feels like the Casual Gamers arrived in S Ranks and the Trolls too. My DR keeps falling because i get bumped off Track all the time. It is Rank A/S. How the Hell did all those Drivers become S Ranked?
Until last Week i was fine with the Penalty System. But i think they need harder Penaltys now.
Drivers like the Honda Guy must fall to E asap when this Kind of Things happens.
Also the Driver in the End is unacceptable. And the Yama guy in the first lap ... They intentionally bump others off Track.

Thanks for watching and what is your experience and opinions?

best regards
Phoenix

Edit: Most Players are still very fair. But if 3-5 of 20 are unfair Drivers ist ruined...

It would be good to understand how many FIA races there are run in total over an evening. Then it may be possible to understand the workload associated with races being reviewed and whether it would even be practical.

The NSX driver is clearly a dick and should be black flagged/banned and demoted several SR levels. His antics are inexcusable.

In any given race there are idiots. It's just luck as to whether or not you meet up with them.

It was the first time a opponent did it without any shame.
Before it was more like stealthbumping. opponents try to shadow their bad behavior as if they only did a small mistake. but now they start to bump on straights and multible cars at same race didit.
I see a huge increase of bad behavior in FIA races with S Ranks and it must be stopped somehow. Or the great fun i had in the first Saisons will be gone.
It is so frustrating if i practice 30 mins or more before a race to drive clean and constant and then some idiot ruins it all in few seconds.
Some call it just a game. But that is what professional football is too and there it is a problem when players show bad behavior.
And i feel the same in a competitiv game as in real live competitions. Otherwise we wouldnt need the Sportmode.

It's not that difficult to get to SR-S with a little bit of unclean driving. Some people will get bumped in a race (even unintentionally!) and that'll set them off and start making them drive dirty, which in turn results in other players driving dirty until half the lobby is playing Mario Kart while everybody else is enjoying a spot of Gran Turismo.

Weird thing is, a lot of these people are actually usually clean drivers, but they still sometimes get 'hot' and tend to bounce around the SR ranks a bit.

On a related note: the douchehammer in the NSX is the reason why we can't have nice things

A while ago I decided to race only only on Nurb GP, Suzuka, Maggiore and Alsace. I mostly stick to Gr.3 unless it's a one-make. Since then I have had a much better experience, tight circuits are hell for clean drivers and heaven for dirty bumholes.

In SR-S I've had some really good races/racing;

This is the dirtiest I've had it since getting to SR(99).. and it's not exactly even really dirty, just one too desperate driver in a sprint race...

Just the three I've uploaded

It is unbeliveable. Just got flipped again by full Intention. I was on the straight in interlagos on 1 side of the road and a megane just flipps me be full Intention. Rubs my until i turn. he had 4/5 of the track for himself but had to flipp me. I rage now for a hour or more since this behavior makes me really angry. After i ruined my own bathurst race in manufacturers today. Ist getting worse and worse and worse... i cant belive whats Happening.

Edit: I fell to SR A now wtf i would have laughed if someone told me that would happen today... Since i am always very clean.

The game doesn't do a good job of recognizing when contact is made by cars on side panels, or rubbing players off track etc.
Unfortunately, I think this will be something very hard to program an AI to learn to read as most of these incidents involve respect.

One of the major downsides to online SIM racing is a fundamental aspect of motorsports is missing - safety.

I agree with the OP - there are bad drivers out there, however, if you think about your races, the nasty drivers are in the minority. Most people racing are clean - at least by the time they get to AS or SS level. So IMO, there are a couple of options:

Join a Racing League
If you really want to race with people who are out to improve their race skill, try to find a race league. On GT6 I serendipitously found a Tues/Sat league called Car Of The Week (COTW) with great drivers, all looking to improve their driving skill. We'd pick a car to race that week and everyone would drive that car with the only modification allowed: an oil change ...and paint. The field equalized through the 2hrs of racing since the winner of a race was required to take on the next lower tire compound - and winners learned to run with the downgraded tires as a badge of honor :)

On GT Sport, I joined SNAIL Spec Racing - they have 4 divisions depending on your level of skill, and well outlined rules on what is and is not allowed, with moderators running each race (they race as well). I've only done one race night with SNAIL and so far it is great, epic, gloriously clean racing! Sure there are incidents, but from what I've seen people take responsibility for their errors and apologize when appropriate.

Race Steward System

I was on iracing for about a year, and the racing enjoyment was dramatically better. In addition iracing has an "incident report" type of mechanism where you can submit vid/pics of an incident and they can take some action. When I heard about FIA sanctioned races on GT-Sport, I really thought things were gonna be different, that people would take these races and treat them as FIA level events. But obviously FIA means nothing to these folks, and IMO frankly GT Sport is ruining the FIA image by allowing reckless racers to take part in those events. The FIA races really should have some reporting mechanism where a "race steward" is able to look at race footage, and take some action - eg. disqualify them from the race, suspend for some number of FIA events, drop in DR, etc. Is this a labor intensive job? yes - initially it would be a lot of work, but over time people would learn that these events are not for them, and the number of incidents should drop over time.

Hey GT Sport - implement a "race steward" system for FIA races!! it is badly needed!

Hi guys

After a horrible horrible Bathurst Manufacturer Race where i failed myself (no crashing just driving slow and bad and getting almost 20-30 sec shortcutpenaltys) i tried to recover in the 4 laps Interlagos Gr.4 dayly Races. Interlagos is my absolute favorit Track and i drive super constant there. But i learned another Lesson. Never play sprint Races in sport Mode ever. It was mayhem and 50% of the Players were defending Positions like they just shut down need for speed and started GTS.
After 3 or 4 horrible horrible demolison derbys i went to Brands Hatch. Absolutely not my most stably Track in laptimes. I find that Track unforgiving.
Somehow i managed to win 2 of 3 Races there. It was all very very clean (exept 1 troll in the second race i didnt win, who drove like the NSX in the startpostvideo) Finally some Fun Races where even the overlapped Guys were perfectly playing like there was blue Flags for the leading Cars. In Race 1 we crossed finish line 1 sec from each other and went true several lapped Cars. (Race 1 was against DR D Cars exept one other DR A Car... strange) The rest was againt other B to S drivers. I was so frustrated after the Manufacturer Race and Interlagos, i was raging. But now its all fine again.

Best regards

How many different threads are you going to copy and paste this very same message in?

Interlagos is an amazing track by itself, but it's not a good track to race online with. I frequently see people complain about narrow tracks and the constant crashing, but in Interlagos it's the opposite. Copious amounts of runoff, no walls to stop you, and forgiving curbs and grass means that players always find "overtaking" spots to divebomb in, even if it's impossible. The track gives you a sense of security, and because of that people are more aggressive. Even I fall prey to this. But sometimes it's just so hard to judge when is right on that track, so I just veer away from that place.

The last right-hander at Interlagos is an absolute certainty for an accident every lap. The closer the speed of the field, the more likely the accident as overtaking is so hard.

The Nighmare continues. I am between crying and raging right now.
Was 4th to 6th, then in lap 8 had to avoid the 5th Place since he braked earlier than usual and as the idiot i am avoid to the outside instead of bumping him slightly and it wouldnt even happen something and go off track. Back in 10th Position i try to get the 2 slower Guys in front of me. Nope didnt happen. I was so much faster it makes me so angry. I knew the Risk and didnt safe my 10th Position. I am so naiv. F........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He was parallel and then suddenly stops turning to bump me off and in this Corner you cant safe the slightest bump. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!
At the end he writes HahAhahahaha in the Chat. WTF.
Edit: Result was the last place for me. I .... dont know what to do to get the fun out of this Game again...It is just no more Fun like this. There is no Honor , there is no Fairplay, there is no Luck. I had a perfect Run with 1:17 times. Only this 2 Errors destroyed everything again and it was caused by others mainly.

I've had very similar experiences lately. Just go have fun, improve driving and if you want clean competition, join a "monitored" team - such as SNAIL - you'll have a lot more fun, and really improve your race craft as opposed to improving your driving paranoia.

...and hey Polyphony, if you're listening: Hey GT Sport - implement a "race steward" system for FIA races!! it is badly needed!

Nature of racing, plan for the worst, hope for the best. Sometimes you think you can trust someone (car ahead of you) then suddenly they screw you over or become childish because they made a mistake, you go to pass and they try to push you off. Can be seen as a self-entitlement or dominant mindset issue. "I led the race for the past 9 laps, I slip once and you pass me? I won't let that happen!" and last place you go. **** happens, you learn, now you'll be more careful next time lol.

You're mad trying to overtake there IMO. Better off waiting until the end of the start finish straight where you could be on the inside.

My Nation's race was destroyed tonight. Rammed three times in one lap.

now you'll be more careful next time lol.
No i will not be more carefull because then i have to let pass all the divebombers but cant take ever back a Position since i would have to fear this **** everytime. On the Straight was no Way to catch the others. Ok maybe the lancer but that Chance i never got. I dont know if it was a accident or intential. In this case. It seemed intential because of the Hahahaha at the end.

This. I honestly think you're taking it too seriously. Yeah it's frustrating but not letting it go right away sends you down the spiral to P20. Ask me how I know. Had plenty of races where I've had people hit me intentionally and not or where I have made the stupid mistake. I guarantee you will not win let alone finish well if you're worried about the divebomber from lap 1 turn 1.

Whether it's an honest mistake or an intentional hit you need to push it out of your mind by the next corner and focus on the position in front of you. That's the "short term memory" they talk about in all sports. What happened doesn't matter, only how you deal with and move on from it.

If you need specific advice, as @NommyNom said, don't trust the guy in front. If you are within a few tenths, do not be directly behind. Move to the inside or outside and establish yourself there instead of trying to run up his bumper and slingshot around. Brake early and setup an over-under with a better exit instead of trying to outbrake. You'll have way more success and fewer unforced errors because you pushed past the limits.

PD could do any number of things to improve Sport mode. I’m sure they’re working on something but I sure wish something was communicated because I’m losing patience:ouch:

In Europe they seem to be very dirty, in America the imbecile is very good, I recommend pushing them subtly, keep the composure and keep running. be dirty but elegant with pigs

in America the imbecile is very good,

I realize that it seems english is not your first language but could you please clarify the statement in the quote? According to the dictionary the definition of imbecile is;
im·be·cile
ˈimbəsəl/
noun
informal
noun: imbecile; plural noun: imbeciles
  1. 1.
    a stupid person.
adjective
adjective: imbecile
  1. 1.
    stupid; idiotic.
"try not to make imbecile remarks"
Not very flattering to your own intelligence if it is your intention to refer to the entire gaming community in America playing GTS as stupid.

You're mad trying to overtake there IMO. Better off waiting until the end of the start finish straight where you could be on the inside.

This, you shouldn't of gone for the overtake on the outside. You were doomed as soon as you made that decision. You also tap him attempting the move which probably led to him correcting and accidentally tapping you.

In retrospect;
I would of lifted early and coasted in their draft. Make the turn with more ease allowing you to get on the throttle earlier and have a run on the straight taking the inside line to turn 1.
OR
Lifted and taking the inside line but most likely the result would of been the same but roles reversed. The other guy would of had more of a chance to adjust his line to make space for you.

No i will not be more carefull because then i have to let pass all the divebombers but cant take ever back a Position since i would have to fear this **** everytime.
That’s exactly what you do until you learn defensive lines. They may not be the fastest lines but you keep them from passing easy (and in terrible places that only lose time for both of you) it’s a gamble you must learn to consider; allow the pass and run faster times (hoping they keep up the pace) or defend your position using slower lines but allowing more attackers to catch up? The divebombers will screw thenselves over. Some refer to them as “the tryhards” and they almost always will crash themselves out. Have patience, be consistent, know when/where to defend and where to allow a dive bomb, you’ll learn with time. The few times I’ve gambled with defending a tryhard in a bad turn has almost always come with bad results (but I catch up later because they screw up from trying too hard). On the other side, I’ve gambled by being a try hard and it proves fruitless almost always. I am sticking to my racing style: clean, consistent, and pressure till they make a mistake.

edit: example; you get better exit speed on somebody at brands hatch final turn, catching up to them but you know you're going to be door to door at turn 1, probably a good idea to let off and get behind them. switch roles, if someones running up on you and they look like they're going for it, let them. If they're good enough, they won't late brake and go wide. If they do, undercut them, accident avoided.

Hi guys

Yesterday finally after 2 painful Saisons full of unrespectful driving in the Sportmode Races and Cup, i felt like the real Racers are back. The once that drive for the good Feeling and not for Victory at any Costs.
Manufacturer Race on the Speedway went well. Drivers were very respectful. The only bumps i seen were lovetouches from behind on the straights.
However those lovetaps reduced my SR from 99 to SR A somehow... I dont even know why. The Race felt really clean and safe. I have not seen any Wallcontacts or Crashes in 20 laps. Except one Guy who made a agressive Line Change in Front of me at the Corner Exit and basically flipped himself off Track.
However i decided to do the Gr.4 Maggiaro daily Race to push back up to SR S after another Speedway SR freefall.
And what can i say, it was great again. I enyoied this Race so much. Everyone in this race was totally respectful and giving room to eachother while still battling. To show you what i mean i will attach this Replay. My Favorit Part starts at 5:00. I wish more Races would be like this. But maybe they will, after the next Call of Duty or Need for Speed is released ;).

They need to change the SR detection on Ovals. Bump drafting is part of racing and the probability of an accidental clash as someone bounces off a wall is massively higher than on a normal circuit. People also need to learn that you don't win the race at the first corner or indeed at all until the last lap. Oval racing is very tactical. You need to know when to push and when to sit. When to try to make a break and when to work with other racers. The majority of GT Sport racers go for any gap at any time and it's a nightmare.

I don't want to encourage a free for all on ovals but I ran as clean as I could the other week and lost 40+ SR points. I'd have been better off quitting the game. I just won't do oval races, FIA or Dailies, which is a shame because I'm consistently near the front at the end and they can be really enjoyable. Just not worth the SR penalty.
