Volvo’s been making jacked-up, off-road-oriented versions of its estate cars for years. But it’s never applied the big wheels ’n’ skidplates formula to a saloon before. (And nor has anyone else, for that matter.) Until now: say hello to the Volvo S60 Cross Country.

Yep, it's a cross country version of the S60. A great success or just a slightly less practical car than the XC70?

That would make a pretty good looking donk. It's already lifted.

Kind of unwieldy next to an S60. Although compared to what BMW filled their compact crossover* slot with, this is a pageant-winner.

*They must be reeling after Volvo managed to fill a not-so-new niche before they could.

It looks like a lifted S60, which is great, if you want lifted S60, but not so great, if you want a standard height V70.

Seriously though, it's the first time, a car like this has been on sale in Nordic countries, and I'm excited to see how it'll sell here.

Despite how close it treads to the X6/ZDX line visually, I like it massively more than any of those. Being more honest about what it is - a jacked-up sedan, not trying to hide behind the butched-up SUV styling draping the same mechanicals - does it wonders.
