VW beetle cup

I'm having trouble with the VW cup. It seems nomatter how much I tune I still can't win. I've tuned every VW and still have came out with no success. :banghead: I just want the Split window beetle but it seems impossible to win. :grumpy:

I hate it!
I hate it! I hate it! I hate it!
Worst cup ever! In celebration of a totally idiotic car, a horrible bastardization of a perfectly good Golf chassis.
*ahem*
Don't use the RSi, even though it's more powerfull and can be modified to be lighter, it can't keep up. Just get the cup car (which is 40K cheaper, anyway), add stage 2 NA,
and kill it! Kill them all!

And it gave me a silver one. I wanted a black one. I have to go through it again. Bastards.
(Tune in next week, when I'll rant about the idiotic track choices in the Triumph manufacturer series!)

I think that about sums it up...

the RSi will never beat it, otherwise you will see RSi Cup Car. :D
Sorry un_peacekeeper...but I must disagree with you. After reading your statement I thought maybe PD had ruined the RSi like so many other of my "Favorites" from GT3. So I went & bought one, only HP upgrades were an Oil Change & Racing Muffler (I shift "By Ear" & the stock pipe is too quiet :indiff: ). I DID add Racing Suspension & Brakes plus R-4 tyres.

A-Spec points were only 26 per race so without my Mods many more points can be found. I did NOT qualify & started last at every race. The only "Close" race was Tsukuba where the rolling start puts you WAY behind & I won that one by about a second. The others ranged between 4 & 8 SECONDS per venue. So don't sell the RSi "Short" it's STILL a fun little ride! 👍 ...O.G. :D

I won with a stock RSi, all I did was racing tyres and oil change, it wasn't that hard to do at all, the stock RSi has more power than the stock Beetle cup cars but it's heavier and doesn'tproduce as much downforce, but the AI's so poor as long as you stay on track which isn'thard at these speeds, you can win.

:odd:
Well, that seems pretty impressive. When I tried with a stock RSi I got wasted. It could neither accelerate or corner as well as the cup cars. I guess I'm just not a very good driver.
(as it is now monday: The thing with the Triumph race track selection is that they're all high speed tracks, and the Triumph has a 4 speed transmission and 70 horsepower. Total insanity.)

Don't get me wrong, I like the RSi too, have lots of wallpapers and stuff of it. Just that I didn't think you can win with that, maybe I need to learn how to drive it better. Everytime, I can't corner with it (S2s) so I ended up buying the Cup Car. I will go try it out with racing tyres then? isn't it unsuitable for the car tho, seems like cheating to me. lol

Not at All!!! You don't REALLY think those "Cup Cars" are running "Sport Tyres" do you? ...O.G. :D

@Emohawk - same sentiments here... I absolutely loved the RSI since GT2 (even rallied with it) but now it drives like a brick. Tried to win the beetle cup with the RSI, wisened up after one race, bought the Beetle Cup Car and won the dang thing.

Why? It's a race against race cars wearing racing tyres. I could understand where our coming from if you were against cars with road tyres on, but your not.

I found the Lupo GTi Cup car to be a meaty, succulent and vivacious alternative route to the top step of the podium.

I am a bit puzzled, so I have to ask: Is there more than one VW Beetle cup?

I won the single-brand VW Beetle championship in both A and B spec using an RSi. All I got for it were two 1949 beetles (one silver and one black). Sure, an early 60s beetle was one of the first cars my parents owned and I used to sleep in the "back hole" when I was young, but at 25HP I don't see what I'd ever use these things for.

thats nice dear :)
but we are talking bout the beetle cup.

ran it this morning in a stock beetle cup car....
2 bits of advice:
1. dont let your b-spec at it
2. pay attention to which track you are on...

1. i let bob run race 2... he got 3rd
2. suzuka came up and after playing the east course heaps i tried to turn at the wrong point... i was first then last all in one instant!

although i came equal first on 35 point (i won the rest of the races) its still a loss. :ouch:

Dude you're supposed to drive it not eat it

EDIT @ ving: turned at the wrong point at Suzuka? Did you turn right after the uphill left at the end of the snaky section, and give yourself a face full of tyres?

I ask because I did exactly that in one of the license tests.... turned right when I should have continued left, saw a tyre wall, got confused enough to not really consider braking, as though I still thought I was going the right way and was just gonna kind of osmose through the wall like Casper or something. Unfortunately, instead of passing through the tyre wall and going on to a Gold time, my car stopped suddenly, which for some reason confused me even more. Then the word FAIL appeared on the screen in large letters, at which point I frowned for a little while. I woke up at some point soon after that, slapped my own forehead, quoted Homer Simpson, and hit "retry".

yeah thats the one alf. ran it again this morning... golded all races cept suzuka again!
I cant help it, I keep trying to turn right there like i am doing the short course! :ouch: and the one time that i did make it past that point the road was so crowded that someone hit my bum and sent me into last place...
cant believe i am gunna have to do this series again!

too right i would!
found the bet set up for my fiat now is stock, no aids and lsd 1. she runs like a dream i tells ya! :D
whoop these bugs i would! :)

I used a stock Beetle Cup Car for this event using R3 tires. It may seem tough because the AI uses R5 tires. Remeber, the "preview" button is your friend.

ving I am sure you know this already but just in case.... if you've won the series, you only need to single race the Suzuka race to get golds on everything for your 100%.

Sorry if that's old news!

Just ran it tonight with a Cup Car on R3s, Tune 1 and Oil. No problems except Tsukuba because I ran off into the grass on the 1st lap and couldn't catch up. The AI s faster on the corners because of the R5s, but with a tune 1 I was faster in the straights.

i dont have the time for 100% :(

i have equalled 1st twice now! i have yet to get an outright win!:ouch:

:yuck:

I did that b***c with the New beetle cup car. Tuned it almost to the maximum and still had trouble beating the opponents. Got the silver beetle as a prize, was hoping for a black one. But it's not that big of deal, just go through the pain again... :ouch:
