If anyone has got a Sony S master STR KS1000 or similar up for grabs let me know, I have got the KS1000 in my front room and would love another for the rig.

Phil-t hope you get the frame home safely today!

I forgot your frame had the two uprights as well before going on about the PJ.

Regards your audio this is similar and uses the speakers I am using on mine.
See Here

I have a proper full 5.1 AV Sony 930 & 940 amplifiers that I need to sell. If your interested. They will work with 4ohm speakers as well.

Haha yeah il be only around 2.5ft from the screen so got to choose wisely so it doesnt give me a headache!

I had a look on ebay but most of the unit are collect in person which to be honest I cant be arsed to do. Im in no rush for one so il keep looking around.

I just had a quick look for the BKG2 on UK sites but most out of stock, even the auras you mentioned in a previous post are out of stock.

Im quite impressed with my KS1000, I bought it second hand from a mate of mine and it is great with optical from my PS3. I may be interested in one of yours, just got to be careful not to spend too much with my daughters birthday and Christmas coming up soon, so may have to hang on for now mate.

The missus has just picked it up, and since it's near the Bullring shopping centre in Birmingham, she's spookily decided to take a tiny detour on the way home to do some therapeutic shopping!

I'm just thinking how to rationalise everything in my Study, I currently have the PS3/360/PC all sharing a 28" Monitor (HDMI Switch) with a small Sony HTK25 surround setup (Optical/Coax)..

I will make the pod as self contained as poss, maybe a HDMI AV Receiver with small 5.1 speaker setup, then just actively split the existing 28" Monitor feed to this new receiver mounted on the frame, then it can feed it's monitor as well and give me 5.1/7.1/whatever.. I can then keep my existing setup as well, so will have two ways of gaming..

Well pleased for you mate you willl love it!

Sounds like a good plan, will have to get some pictures posted to show it all off! Once you get it home you will have a better idea of how much you you have to play with and what can go where.

I have cut some extra holes in my frame for routing wires through to where they are needed and it will still look tidy. The cupboard on the GTX is fine for public use of the frame but I would like my PS3 to be more accessible. So mounting it under the seat will not only make it more accesible but will help to keep the heat down too.

If all goes well my 5.1 reviever should fit into the cupboard keeping it all looking neat

Here some pics of mine so far, not alot to see but will be changing alot by the end of next week.

Stripped down a bit for now until I get wires through to the PS3 to where it will be located under the bucket.

IMG_8110.jpg

Started cutting holes for HDMI, USB, power cable etc to run through the frame. The hole will be hidden by the seat subframe and then come through a plate to the PS3.

to have the pS£
IMG_8111.jpg

After routing the cable from the pedals through the frame I reposistioned the cable to come from the pedals under the base plate so its all well hidden.

Not much to see in here just going to use for all the wiring and the 5.1 when I get one sorted. Me thinks its a little tight to have the PS3 and all the wiring in here, makes it difficult to swap games and gets quite warm too.

Cant wait to get this baby up and running. The Mrs has hinted at a TV for an early Xmas pressie WHOOOOHOOOO!

Looking great phil, the black tray should be easy enough to drill. I managed to cover the slits with my G27 pedals and redrilled the plate to bolt mine to it. I told you that you would love it! In my honest opinion and especially for the price I do not believe there is a more authentic rig available due to the spec, design, strength and build quality.

Nice one with the Civic seats, the mountings for the frame are 330x290mm so if you can get something fabbed up thats what you need to be aiming for fella. Hold fire with the second seat I might know someone who can help take that off your hands, he has got a Civic and one of his seats is ripped and he wants to replace it.

Im repositioning the gear lever to beside the bucket so after I get the seat mounted I will be able to get a bracket to bolt the side shelf to.

Oh you lucky git, £130 wow.

Seeing the blue chair etc made my morning, near spat my coffee over the screen so thanks for that. :)

I did notice your Mission sub, damn I was after one fo those for years to match my speakers in my loft cinema/room. If youd ever consider offloading it let me know.

Well done lads, enjoy. Will be neat looking rigs and its great to see members help each other out (ahhhhh so nice).

Hey Mr Latte, thanks for the kind words. Im really pleased for Phil-t he got a really good deal there, cant wait to see it come along.

Im currently waiting in for the postie, got some cables and castors coming today hopefully so can make a start on the wiring and the wheels will make it loads easier to move around. Going to strip my frame down this afternoon to make it easier to thread the cables through. I will need to get the drill out again to enlarge the holes for the HDMI and I hope the cables I ordered are long enough!

As I write this the postie arrives with nothing for me apart from bills! 👎

Maybe tomorrow.....

Thanks Mr L...

Good spot on the sub!!

Prices of monitors are really tumbling aint they. Im reading this on a 19" Samsung TFT (at work) that cost £550 back in the Forza 1 days.
I bought a 4th iiyama 2407 back in Feb which was £170 though so that offer from Dabs is a cracker. Not bad monitors, bit better blacks wouldnt go a mis but pretty good displays and Im sure the Viewsonic will be similar.

Oh trust me I know all about bills, when I think of what Ive had to pay out for my small business lately never mind home. Thats why Im doing 60+ hour weeks working late nights to rack in more business and cant get time to do more on my own cockpit.

Id love to see one of you add some nice red or white led lighting underneath the stems of these.
Just think it would look "bang-tidy" :sly:

"Project R" will use RGB lighting of some sort:

:) Some subtle mood lighting probably wouldn't go amiss!

I've just ordered a HDMI Splitter, and various HDMI/Toslink cables to allow me to build it all up this weekend..

Just in time for F1 2011!

I have been having a look at monitors this morning and found this over at ebuyer;

w0232455_newpage.jpg

ViewSonic VX2439WM LCD TFT 24" HDMI Monitor with VESA mounting, any thoughts guys?

EDIT: Cant believe when I looked up at phils post, its the same bloody model as he has ordered!

Ok phil this is getting a little weird now haha, will have to let me know what the monitor is like I was looking at the Viewsonic and an LG.

I do have plans for light I think you like it when its done, but thats for a later date need to get the Mrs to sort out Santa coming early first :)

Ha thats mental, same monitors too.
I think lighting if done right can add an element of bling but class.

Tell me about it, I knew Phil had ordered one but did not know what make/model until I posted about the Viewsonic and thought I would see what he had gone for!

Cannot believe its the same, but if it turns out Phil is happy with his I know what I will be ordering!

I was planning on LEDs running under the sides of the frame, in fact it was one of the first things I thought of when I laid my eyes on the GTX. Would be cool to have the ambient light change colour with accelaration and braking just to add more immersion to the setup.

:) Great minds must think alike!!!

On the lighting front..

How about this for an idea..

Use an RGB sensor pointed at the screen (or part of the screen), then use that to set the LED colour.. it would dynamically change according to the scenery (or whatever you are pointing it at)..

You used to be able to get i2C RGB sensors fairly cheap, even the Avago Analogue board is under £20.. then use a small hobby microcontroller board, bit of software, and get that controlling your RGB LED Strips!

Sounds like a great idea phil, I didnt know such a thing existed. I have a little wiring experience so maybe something I will have to look into. Bet you cant wait until 4.00pm to have a gander at your new seats mate!

Ahh you mean like a d.i.y Phillps ambilight idea?

Yeah, absolutely Mr Latte..

The Avago board seems ideal in that it outputs voltage levels for each colour, in theory you could buffer this and drive the LED's, but I suspect that it will need some logic thrown in to create specific RGB values from the LED's as they will be horrifically non-linear, but it might work OK enough as it won't require any complex logic

If I was doing it, I've used this kind of thing before for some applications in work..

couple with a small PIC/ARM hobby board, you could write some really cool features for it, and get it all calibrated nicely.. If I had some spare time, and could find some easily driven and cheap RGB LED Strips, I'd possibly have a look at some point (I'm a software engineer)..

I have had a brief look into PICs and writing stuff when I wanted to create something for my (sons) scalextric but it was way too much for me. Sounds like a good idea and since your into that sort of stuff should be quite simple for you to pull off.

I wanted to go for say a white static light and then blend it with blue on accelaration and red for braking, think it could be quite effective.

While we are talking lights has anyone seen a larger version of G27 RPM lights, I would like to have a stand alone RPM guage. You never get to appreciate them on the G27 unless you look down and while your sat there thinking "oh nice pretty lights" you end up in a wall for not paying attention.
