You can buy a " tube " to connect two threaded rods together. I brlieve you are looking for a turnbuckle. Something like what you would find on a wooden fence gate to keep it from sagging/ fixing a sagging issue.

Cheers mate, i knew something existed but didnt know the name of it. I will do a bit of googling and get one ordered. I have also emailed Gamepod to see if they could supply an extra storage case to mount below the existing one. If they have I can reverse mount my pedals and im thinking of replacing the chequer plating with a carbon fibre floor along the whole length of the frame. The pedals will look neat fixed to the storage case and it will give me somewhere to store the surround sound. Anyone got any ideas about the speaker mounts?

Bit of an update for you guys and gals. I have ordered a turn-buckle and some M8 threaded bar to pull the seat and frame into alignment.

I have also ordered some carbon fibre wrap and a 5mm acrylic sheet to replace the floor along the full length of the frame, but getting the frame square with the turn-buckle will have to be done before fitting the floor. I will have to cut the sheet to fit around the bucket mounts and will mount the surround sound receiver underneath the floor.

I have had loads of headaches trying to make everything fit to the frame to keep it neat and portable and one problem I still have is making the sub woofer fit under my seat base. I think I will end up having to build an enclosure and will need some advice on how to try and keep the same amount of space in a different shaped enclosure to maintain airflow(?)

The surround front speakers have yet to be fitted to the GTX storage locker underneath the monitor but I have already run the wiring through the frame ready.

And finally I have some pics of the surround sound rear speakers being fitted to the bucket:

More soon!

Nice going...

For the subs I went for Sonys slim models, decent quality but affordable. Now discontinued but see here

You could build a small enclosure and use some sound material like "Fat Mat" or alternative. Has worked quite well for me. Alternatively go for dual Aura Pro and have them on the sides of the seat and perhaps a 3rd one unde the seat for LFE. That will be much better than a subwoofer.

I was wanting to keep the sub that came with the surround sound, being in a terraced house I think I would be upsetting the neighbours if I went for an aftermarket sub!

Now the supplied sub obviously comes in a prebuilt, sealed box with a port in it. If I were to calculate the volume of the box and build another one in a different shape would the bass result be pretty much the same?

Im really starting to struggle for room so cant really be adding anything else to the system, not to mention the weight of it all!

Nice to see you on Mr Latte, I read briefly that you have had a bit of trouble so good to have you back posting :)

Hi all, so had my rig for a while now and will be making some changes in the near future. Ive added a new surround sound and will be ordering some tactile units very soon. Im looking to get it updated in time for this years GT Academy, I finished 126th in the UK in 2012 and want to improve on this and maybe make the top 32. So keep an eye out for updates to the thread.

Sick cyclinder has been kind enough to advise on a starter tactile system and Im also looking for links to where I can get an aluminium H pattern surround to fit to my G27 gear lever for when I start my mods. Any ideas please share, looking for Ferrari style round or square to compliment the rig.

Hey guys I think its time for a bit of an update.

Had a redesign of the Gamepod and had to remove some of the original components to fit everything I had in mind to my rig.

So spec list now goes like this:

Gamepod Custom GTX
Logitech G27, pedals removed from casing
Viewsonic 24" Full HD Monitor
Sony HTSS1100 5.1 Surround Sound System
2x Sinus Bass Pump 3
Conrad 150W Power Amplifier
Autostyle Reclining Bucket Seat with intergrated rear surround

PS3 is connected via optical to surround sound and I use the multi out for the bass shaker amp.

As you can imagine there is alot of wiring and the rig is still not finished with some trim still to be done and really needs a hoover.

I can highly recommend the Sinus Bass Pumps, brilliant kit. Thanks to Sick and everyone who helped me chosing these for my rig. Mounted them both under the seat and will maybe add another to the pedals in the future.

Im a bit gutted with the way it turned out, but with the amount of space I have and the amount of kit that I have, its the best I could come up with. But hey, it works and the sound and tactile are great.

Sorry for the poor pictures, my DSLR needs charging.

Enjoy

Looks good Kris!

I like how you have integrated the amp - you have made a very neat setup.

If you add more bass pump shakers, add a pair so that you can wire series parallel to create a 4 ohm load from 4 shakers. Maybe add one to the pedal area and a third to the seat or one to the shifter.

Thanks Sick, im not 100% happy with it, could be tidier tbh. I would add the next shaker to pedals and another under the wheel, I dont use the stick too much and prefer the paddles. Also keep thinking about a T500rs but from what i have read its not worth it to replace a G27.

Looking good mate. Much niced that the original Gamepod.

It's very similar to what I've been considering trying to fabricate myself once I move house.
Would look to incorporate some sort of pivoted keyboard/mouse mount so I could use it for PC gaming as well as consoles.

Cheers mate, I got lucky when I was looking for a frame, having said that the offers on the GT2 at the moments are great:

Im sure you could find a keyboard pivot to attach and fabricate the uprights for a monitor. £249 including a bucket its a bargain!

Get my bonus the day I move into my new place so that might be an idea. Will give it some proper thought once I can look at it properly. GamePod site is blocked at work but GTP isn't for some reason.

Only issue now is what space I have. If I can mount a workable keyboard/mouse table to it then I can lose the PC desk and I'd be sorted.

Cheers for the heads up.

So after you move and get sorted will you be looking for a race league based in the uk? (hint hint see sig)!

Yup more than likely. Something I've been meaning to get into for a while. Will need to sort some pedals out as well as the DFGT ones just aren't cutting it at the moment. Trying to source some G25/G27 standalone pedals has been difficult so think I might just bite the bullet and upgrade the whole kit whilst I'm at it.

Whats the adjustability/weight limit on the GamePod? I'm nearly 6'4 and 19st/266lb (although thats dropping off now my American Football season is getting going again), so I'm worried about issues with seat mounting/strength. Would rather it worked out the box than having to bolster the brackets.

The GamePod weight limit is not an issue. They are very strong. The length issue is however a problem. I'm 6'1 and weight 215. I had to attach the seat supports a bolt hole back using only two bolts per side rather than three. It is still rock solid. I still had to fabricate a pedal extension plate. That gave me an additional 6" of leg room. So with the seat mount slid back a hole and the extension plate. I can now move my seat back and not be able to reach the pedals comfortably. Slide the seat forward to get it perfect.

Ah brilliant cheers. Looks like it should just about seat me then.

I'm still going to shop around a bit for the time being. I won't know for certain what to get until I know the exact space constraints I'll have.

There is your answer rich! Great kit vince, id buy another tomorrow if i needed one!

Thanks kris. I'm waiting on the rest of my components for my triple monitor set up. Also new pc tower and internals. Just about have everything, starting to get excited!

Kris

Did you find a shifter gate? I have a friend who wants one for his G25.

Whether a T500 is worth it depends on the person - I am very happy with mine, but wish the fan wasn't so noisy. I think a T500 won't make you any faster and if that is important, better to spend extra cash on the rest of your rig - maybe pedal upgrades if you haven't done that already.

Didnt find one mate but it turned out the shifter didnt get stripped and integrated into the side where the surround unit is anyway.

I keep reading clubsport pedals are the best so may have to splash out. Im trying to convince my other half i need a man cave and we have a little cupboard under the stairs that would be ideal rather than having my rig in the dining room taking up space!

Hey everyone,
