That also sounds ridiculous, but I guess it's less wrong. It is higher power than a .22 long rifle, or handguns.

High power, what a joke, rim fire can kill, even at distance although win mag 22 might be a bit better. Can't stand the way the media says that, like a nurf gun is considered a weapon lol.

Anyway, even though I don't like the damn things(has nothing to do with rights, just have no use for them) What brothersuperior said in the other thread is correct.

Paraphrase "2nd amendment says we have the right to arm ourselves as the gov does"

Let who ever call these weapons any name they chose, it reminds me of how suv's kill many but it's never the driver of the suv.

True, but what is the arbitrary high power tag? There is a reason I mention rim fire but tbh, how about anything smaller then a bgm 50 not be high power? Or maybe the limit should be a belted round? that kinda makes sense, still a silly label spoken to fire up the ignorant.

Well, unlike "assault rifle", at least the high power reference is not technical(as far as I know). Generally, I think .30 calibers & up are considered big-boy rounds.

I don't know if it's ignorant, but it's certainly up for discussion.

I myself am ignorant on some parts of this whole "national gun debate" this country is having at the moment, but at least I'm learning something new everyday about it.👍

Cal is the same

22_penny_223-tfb.jpg

heavier grain, much more powder, center fire, still same cal

EDIT: here from wiki

.22 cal = 5.56 mm 0.223-0.224 in .22 Long Rifle, .222 Remington, .223 Remington, 5.56×45mm NATO, 5.7 x 28 mm, .22-250 Remington, .22 Airgun

22-250 is my fav btw, and I would not use it on anything larger then a coyote.

Why the outcry from some calling for a ban on AR-15, M16 style guns? The lethality of that shotgun is 10 times anything else he was carrying. Learn about guns before you make yourself look foolish, and don't just fall into the bandwagon of banning certain guns. Second Amendment people.

More on topic;

Just heard from media that the shooter had left notes at home about liking 'to kill people'. Wonder what would be his favourite choice of weapon when this fiery thirst to kill made him want to drop the hammer. Gasoline?

It all depends on circumstance I suppose, take the horrid school shooting. Fairly close range I'm guessing, semi auto large clip, 26 dead. I'd bet a 10/22 would have done the same thing, he was not fighting combatants. Could have been too lazy to work the pump on a 12 gauge and reload?

Anyway, they all kill, that is the point imo. If I was in combat I'd rather have a full auto 223 then my usual large game gun of choice, being a lever action 30/30 that holds 5 plus one.

.223 might be similar caliber, but obviously, it packs quite more punch than the .22 long rifle. *edit - just look at the size difference in casing! lol

On shotguns, it's a different animal depending on the load. With slugs, you get hit with one of those, you are 🤬 Birdshot, you are likely to survive those, given range.

On topic - I have heard about the note, something like in regards to he's going to do what he enjoys the most, killing, something like that. What an absolute loser.

Edit: Here's a pic of a birdshot(left, small bb's), all the way up to a slug(right. one, BIG, bullet :nervous:)

I talked about that a few pages ago. That is not was the note said. It didn't say he liked to kill people, it said what his intentions were. That was to hold off as long as he could before surrendering.

I don't really think the Associated Press and Chief Pickering want to contradict a SWAT team, Slash - they may have guns.

As for me . . . just don't shoot the messenger, okay? :scared:

I have family that is part of the SWAT unit that was actually there. It did not say that.

But you'll all beleive what you want.

SWAT is not a forensic or investigative team. Evidence was collected, which probably took hours, and a better picture of motive would be formulated. While a hand written note tucked in his shirt pocket would be something a SWAT member might see, accessing recent text messaging or emails is something they don't do.

Hell, maybe this 'note' was a controlled leak to see who a snitch was.

In a nutshell, try not to jump to conclusions until everything has been discovered; e.g. there was no M16. And no, an M16 is not an Ar-15. I can buy the latter for <$1000 new while the former would cost 15x as much and be used. Slight difference don't you think?

I don't really give a hoot what they are, I know what I saw. But whatever, I'm not going to argue over this. It's silly.
