Wohooooooooooooooo!!! :D Let's rock and roll, baby!!! I'd say "guilty as charged" ;)

You guys couldn't be any more right about this one! Bring it on!

Coooool! Can't wait to get started! I'll have to look through the prize lists and stuff to see what kind of cars I can get to pop up. What about concept versions?

Ugh. Yet another track I've avoided - until now. Never liked it in GT3 (for the whole 2 months I played that game) and I still don't like it.

RX-7's should be interesting...well, at least trying to find a fast one. There are as many RX-7's in the game as there are Skylines.

Oh well, I'll give it a try when I get home.

What about concept versions?

They are allowed.

Any sort of Race Car or Tuner Car is not allowed.

However, any of the "others" are just fine.

This includes the "RX8 Concept '01" as well as all of those awesome RX7s.

I'm pretty sure this week can have a diverse list of cars participating.
Atleast 2 RX7s will be competitive and atleast 1 RX8 will be competitive. 👍

Good luck everyone. :D

This seems like an interesting race: back in Arcade Mode - just as I like it :D

I will give it a try tonight, after I figured out how many RX7's and RX8's there are in the game :sly:

Later.

The Wizard.

COOL , got me a blue bathhurst rx-7 last night, will give it a try. Hope it shows up in my choices in my garage. Trail mountain, like that track and even better reverse.

Oh my god.
I just had a conversation with small_fryz yesterday night and we both agreed that Trial Mountain would be great choice for week 17. And then i mentioned how some of the past rounds where multiple cars were allowed didn't quite turn out how i think they should have, being 1 car was clearly the favourite. So i suggested a JDM sports car race, where only cars like the NSX, RX-7, RX-8, 350z, R34 GTR, EVO8, STI, and Supra were allowed. I thought with those choices people would chose with more variety and my choice would definitely have been the RX-7.

And then i wake up today, check out week 17, and what do i get :) :) :)
That's just freaky!

Acutually, if you think about it, no- it is not that freaky.

Go look at the suggestions thread.
Key notes of that thread over the past week:
No FF
Trial Mountain
Things we haven't done yet

Mazda has been left out up till now.
Trial mountain was the over-whelming choice by racers
This is not a FF battle :D

All in all this week, if nothing else, is an example of why the suggestions thread should be one of the most active threads in this forum.

I listen to you and almost always have.
This is my 57th week as the race admin (not including what CFM did)... Look through the history of my races and I am sure you will see dozens of races where I did a race the racers wanted. 👍

Democracy or not, I take the racers' opinions into account every time I set up a race. :sly:

As stated earlier, I hope you all enjoy this one.
Also, to all those it may concern... Thanks for the kind words regarding this week's race selection.

Well I have big expectations for this one, I hope the RX-8 will be able to 'compete' because it handles so well. Only about 5 hours til I can race again. But I did just buy a new TV last night because dear old mom begged me to let her buy mine, so now I have a 27" flat screen TV with all the bells and whistles except HD. It rocks, I can now see the pixel textures at Trial Mtn (where I first ran a race using my new TV..how strange....only I ran it normal). I used the very sleek M3 GTR. Well anyway I'll do some testing tonite and see which car(s) may work well.

Way to burst my bubble Kent
Anyways, I digress. Point of this thread is week 17!

My T splits so far:
T1: 0'17.272
T2: 0'47.350
T3: 1'10.191 (Seen a 1'09.6 once, but then fudged it up in the final mountain combo)
Mazda RX-7 Spirit R Type A.

The Bratwurst has 347hp/1134kg tuned while the Spirit R Type A has 351hp/1143kg tuned. Those are the only 2 cars i looked at as i'm just gonna stick with the good ol FD :) .

The most important sections of this track is the opening chicane and the final hilly section. Those are definitely the most difficult part of the tracks to get through smoothly with maximum speed. I can't count how many times i've restarted just to get through that first chicane quick enough without nudging the wall at the exit.

I finally have time to do one..and I got a new CPU with a capture card..(no more half quality videos) I'll race this immediately.

Flat screens are the best..I have a 32 inch flat screen...although I'm hoping to get a plasma...a flat screen with S-video hookup is still 2nd best. :)

Hi guys,

Just signed up for the WRS last Sunday, so I didn't have a lot of time to submit a decent time for week 16.
This will be my first race, so I am really looking forward to it! The splits I've seen in this thread are comparable to mine so far, but of course it's early days.
Best of luck to everyone!

Yah u know what really sux is that I can't use the S-Video input to my tv from my ps2 because I have one of those switch boxes for those yellow red and white cords. So I have one from my ps2, one from my Game Cube (Zelda will be out on 11-1-05!!!!!) and one from my DVD player and I use the output from my ps2 to capture with so I"m kinda stuck. But its still awesome! I just wish I bought a bigger entertainment center so I could fit a 32" ;)

EDIT: Apologiez for the off topik.

Wow this combo has me really appreciating my days off of work :)
Feels really great to get a good start on a new week of racing.

I tested the RX-8 type-S and the RX-8 Concept for a couple laps each. The RX-8 type-S just doesn't have the horsepower to keep up. The concept has a very favourable weight advantage over the RX-7's (I think it was about 100kg's lighter) with only a ~20hp disadvantage. However, my initial feeling with the concept is that the gear ratio does not match up with Trial Mountain otherwise it might be faster.

New Splits:
T1: 0'17.129 (0'16.9 might be achievable from what i've seen)
T2: 0'47.143 (0'46's are definitely possible here)
T3: 1'09.790

I feel that i'm already nearing my limit with the Spirit R and this track. On my replay i can see only a few tenths that i might be able to take off, but i'm sure our Double H's and veilside will easily surpass my limit like it was a casual sunday drive. :)

I am correct in thinking that a car is not a race car if it does not use race tires and does not have an adjustable top speed. Or is a race car considered one that is not stock?

Yes i think this was the general concensus when a similar question came up in one of the previous weeks. Looking through the archive it was week 15 where similar questions were raised about what defines a race car.

Looking at the GTP car list, I think the only rx-7 and rx-8 models that are excluded from this week are the:
Mazda BP Falken RX-7 (D1GP) ('03)
Mazda RX-7 LM Edition ('01)
Mazda RX-8 LM Edition ('01)
Edit:
and the
R.E. Amemiya RX-7 (Aspara Drink JGTC) ('04)
(Thanks misterweary for pointing out my glaring omission! Can't believe i forgot that car.. i love the bodykit and it's also my favourite JGTC300 car!)

Any other RX-7/8 model looks like fair game!

Time to bring out the Asparadrink!!! Just kidding :) Can't wait to have a crack at this one, I love trial mountain, but my reverse tactic has always been to cut that first chicane, guess that won't be happening this week.
