OK boys and girls im back ;)
We had race on Laguna last week (JGTC series) so i have sth like my line for this track in very similiar car. I took Oreca Viper @ 599hp & 1035kg (1.727pwr) for the start (cos i could buy only that one and C5R - i couldnt find the others :P - probably i will have to win them..). I play PAL version Kent and i was able to get those settings that u proposed in 1 post.(of course replay shows 600HP not 599..)
My first splits:

T1: 18.332
T2: 35.879
T3: 54.892

Div2 DS2

Im sorry i was out for a moment and i dont know how to write those splits so that "program" could use it.

Hot's beat me too it. Try every car and turn in the best time :sly:
Just raced this track in the JGTC Series and have it down pretty good, except for the car i will be using. :scared:

Well here are some splits after about a half hour.

Team Oreca Viper GTS-R - 599hp @1035kg
(Kent, it shows up as 600hp in replays. I assume this is fine??)

T1: 18.529
T2: 35.687
T3: 53.832

I had a killer T2 - T3 as well as a T3 - Finish. But there's still plenty of time to be had. The trickiest corners on this track remain what I call Turn 2 and Turn 3, the two right-handers after the first hairpin.

I will try all other cars, but in my experiences with the C5-R and the GTS-R, the Viper handles better out of the two.

Seems everyone is choosing the Viper, Why?

I would think the Ford GT LM Spec II would be the fastest because

A) Ford GTs in this game are based on rocketships.
B) It's the only MR car.

But I might have a quick run after breakfast. And post some times

I only chose it because it's the one that I like the best, before driving it. I love Vipers, always have, that's all.

Hey guys,

Good spread of cars/handling this week, eh?

The Ford GT is this weeks oversteering handful of fun!
The C5R wins the understeering crown!
The Viper is this weeks GT3-GT4's 'most improved handling' winner for it's VASTLY reduced understeer on the brakes and it's right-foot friendly diff!

But the Camaro is the most balanced for re-learning the track at speed so it's the overall winner of 'The car that us meer mortals will use for the start of the week to build our confidence up' trophy for this week!

LOL

Nice one Kent

Neil

Great work kent you took many suggestions into play for this one, my suggestion about having some equal cars, that require you to test them, and other suggestions about these fast boys and other suggestions about laguna. 👍 👍

I will find some time to race this one, these cars are fast but they dont seem over the limit, ~600hp is not to much and not to little 👍.

:mischievous:

You better learn it, brother! Inside and out. Every bump. Every grain of sand. Every stone in the tarmac. Every ridge of the rumble strips. Every corner radius. Everything! Because that's what it's going to take for you to beat me hahahahahahahaha :mischievous:

Not to sound conceited or arrogant or anything...just razzing you because you and I both know I'm better at this track. So yeah, I guess I'm being arrogant. 👍

If I remember correctly...on my specialty tracks that we've run in the past, I either beat you (@ Monaco) or got very very close to you (@ Suzuka). Expect the same this time. I own this track just like I own Monaco and Suzuka  And you know it's true!

HEHEHEHEHE

IT'S ON LIKE DONKEY KONG!!!! YEEEEHAAAAA!!

Ya damn right its ON! And I will learn all of it, except for every grain of sand that is :sly: . By all means though, I'm sure you'll be seeing plenty of that when I drop 2 seconds off your time! J/K, I know you'll give me, and probably most of D1 a good run this week. I'll probably run everything BUT the Viper, as I hate them with a passion. Besides, I think I only have money for either the C5R or the Viper, and when it comes down to it, C5 it is. I think I already have the other two in the garage. Well, time to get crackin at it, see which car I like the best...:)

Oh, and apologies to anyone who I didn't give credit to for this week's idea.

This week's gonna screw with the automatic programme.....

I'm gonna spend this week doing laps in all 4 cars and post splits for each one!

So far done...

Camaro
T1 19.004
T2 37.348
T3 57.121

Ford GT
T1 19.171 seen 18.500 many times
T2 36.719 seen 36.2xx
T3 55.716 best so far!

Gonna run the other two tomoz.

BTW
@KENT

What is the ruling on the pit lane exit?

Nice combo, struggled with last weeks. This will be my second week, love the cars and the track, hopefully can place higher in standings. Mostly just posting so that I can get recognized a little, been hanging around here for about 2 years but don't post much, having fun so far and hope I can put some serious time in this week and try and compete for a podium. 👍 but it's just cool finally being involved in the WRS. Alright, that's enough hi I'm new here speeches, see you boys on the track 👍

Ford GT LM Race Car Spec II @ Laguna Seca

Hey Jerome,

Nice to see someone else not automatically jumping into the bleeding Viper!

Now i appreciate why Jeremy Clarkson off 'Topgear' ordered one of the road cars and waited for over a year to get one! Plus why, even tho he's having problems with the alarm/immobiliser/lo-jack system he is still going to use it to go to work in! IT'S FUN!

Nat will be proud of us! LOL

I might try out the Viper and the C5 next....hehe.

T1 - :18.454
T2 - :35.596
T3 - :54.436

Well after 5 laps in this car and 10 in the GT, I am .6 ahead of my GT time, so far this is the car to beat, 2 more to go ;). Ya know Neil, I am thinking that the exit lines should be part of the track just because if we were doing a 5 lap race for the wrs this week we'd have to drive in it, but its just a thought and I'm not a moderator...yet...lol. But the GT takes more skill that is for sure!

Well, I've run about 5 laps in each car. The Camaro is my least favorite. The C5R and GT are really close, and the Viper is probably .25-.5 faster. I think I could get all the cars w/in .5 of each other. My times so far, in the Viper, are:

T1: 18.289
T2: 35.647
T3: 54.231

I actually just race this track and this class of cars last week on another board, so it really helped me find the braking points and turns in a few laps. Not to mention this is probably my favorite track behind Monaco!!!

Fantastic race, Kent 👍 👍 👍

Ford GT:
18.6
35.7
54.3

Oreca Viper:
18.2
35.5
53.8

For me, the Viper's gearing was better (it revs higher than the GT), and it was easier to drive. I beat my Ford GT time in two laps :P

I think people driving with the wheel are going to have an advantage this week, as turns 2, 3 and 4 respond *really* well to trail-braking.

T1 - :18.328
T2 - :35.741
T3 - :54.425 (Losing MOST of my time in the chicane and the turn after, everything else feels fine for day 1)

Done for da nite guyz,.... Androos great splits guy! Got me by a .6 already...

What really sux is I beat my old time by .3 and I'm .2 slower at T2.....*CHICANE WORK NEEDED*

T1: 18.455
T2: 35.712
T3: 54.316

Excellent combo Kent! 👍 👍

Luxy, it's good to see that you've been able to put some laps in. :)

I put in a few more laps in the Viper and I have improved my overall time by a few hundredths:

T1: 18.095
T2: 35.553
T3: 54.182

Does anyone have any word on the pit lane exit? On my fast lap I didn't cross the white line, but it definitely gives you a slight advantage if you use it.

Ran everything except the Viper, wasn't gonna buy it and the C5R unless I have to. And so far it doesn't look like I HAVE to. I love having cars that are SO CLOSE to each other, even though they handle differently.

Vette:
T1 - 18.214
T2 - 35.614
T3 - 54.216

Camaro:
T1 - 18.305
T2 - 35.763
T3 - 54.229

Ford GT:
T1 - 18.182
T2 - 35.467
T3 - 53.943

Oddly enough, the fastest lap of the three is the Camaro :sly: . I blew the last sector in the GT and ended up off by about 0.050. The Camaro and the C5R feel alot alike, and it feels as though you can brake alot deeper into the turns with them than in the GT. The fastest T1 i saw was a 18.150 in the C5R, while the fastest T2 and T3 came in the GT as shown. I'll work on getting the C5R down to the 53's tomorrow. I still made plenty of mistakes, so I should be able to knock a good 0.5 off all three times.

And I would say no on the pit lane exit, i was using it too in the beginning, but I don't think it would be in the spirit of the rules to use it.

Awesome combo for this week 👍
The title got me at first - my first thought was: "Oh no, Mazdas again..." (note that this is the clean edition of what I really said :D)

But then, when I read the rest of the post, I immediately felt better.

It's so much the will of trying out this combo that, despite the fact that I have 26 hours worth of trip from Italy to the States, I am going to set up my PS2 right now just for the occasion.

If I had to go with looks, the GT would be my first choice...
But, unfortunately, if I want to be competitive I might have to end up in the Viper 👎:yuck:

Oh well... maybe, hopefully, the GT is not as bad as it seems.

Later.

The Wizard.

Well, first off, regarding "pit lane"...
Don't go 4 wheels into it please.
2 wheels in is cool but any more is basically the same as short cutting. :(

Now regarding what really caught my attention...
ballstothewall
The Viper is this weeks GT3-GT4's 'most improved handling' winner for it's VASTLY reduced understeer on the brakes
The Oreca Viper was easily one of the best cars in GT3.
Always great in sim mode and still fun to drive in arcade mode (not to mention the fastest car of its class by a long shot in either mode).

i'd like to add that the oreca viper was outstanding in gt2 as well.
as far as FR cars go, it was only a wee bit behind the cerby lm in handling and the speed12 in raw speed.
always has been a great car.

So, I ask you, what's up with that?
Really, did you play GT3 much?

No biggie either way... I'm just saying, there are dozens and dozens of us who totally disagree with this statement (and I just can't iterate how much we disagree).

I agree with you Kent, the the Vipers were some of the most fun/best cars in GT3... the whole week I played it. Although I prefered the regular GTS over the Oreca.

As for disagreements... majority hates the Viper. Could someone please PM me or post a reason for this?! True, they lack the sleek style of the 'Vette, and they aren't cheap and three in every driveway like the Mustang :yuck: .

I like the car because I like most all of the cars Carroll Shelby had a hand in designing(yes, even the Mustang GT350 and GT500), that and the original Vipers, not the new... things they're calling the viper, were built with a racecar design in mind.

:sly: Just remember, the Oreca Viper is just a normal Dodge Viper with a wing, some engine tuning, and a French flag decal.

As for my T times... After seeing some of the times posted, I way need to do a lot of work, to ashamed to post current times.. I need to gain about, oh... 5 seconds to be competetive
