I know the animated gifs you’re talking about Kent ;) . . It was Hyundai’s personality that I found attractive. . the avatar is cute too.

I’m done with one I thinks. . me SVT is burnt! I’m satisfied with my lap :)

Race car? Strange,I use the same car every day when I go to work

Kent,I read it about the racing series now and i don't want to brake the rules.
I shall choose an other car.

Finally I found a decent car, a Mazda RX7 RZ ;)
T1 15.144
T2 43.644
T3 1'04.774

Last on the leaderboard does hurt but then again someone has to be.

I'm going with the TVR Griffith 500 this week :dopey:

66.jpg

(in Moonraker Black though).

Best T-times so far:

15.357
43.910
1'05.143

Costs:

Car: 62410
Suspension: 18000
Sports Brakes: 4800
Transmission: 10500
Driveshaft/Carbon: 3250
Flywheel Semi Racing: 650

Total: 99610

352bhp with a power to weight ratio of 3.011.

Although I won't be competitive this week I thought I would have fun! 👍

I just pm'ed my final time for this race (my very first WRS :) ) because I won't have time to race again, 'till wednesday I think.

T1: 15.697
T2: 44.320
T3: 1:05.388

It was fun racing with you guys 👍

C ya next week :)

@Touge ... looks like it'll be close for the top RX-7 spot :mischievous:

RX-7 RS @ 395hp / 3.012 PWR
T1: 15.1
T2: 43.1
T3: 1'03.6

This week is the most fun I've had with GT3 in ages. I'd be interested to run the same race again, but without the RX-7, Z06, Gransport, Mustang, and Camaro as options (banned, I suppose). There were quite a few cars that could make it into the high 1'04's or low 1'05's ... My favourite car this week was the R33 Skyline. It looks so badass, and it's fun to drive :D

I dunno if I'll be racing any more on this one or not ... good luck to everyone who's still running 👍

Racy,
The griffith was awesome. 👍
I ran it and thought it was top notch but still no Z06. ;)

On that note...
I did some minor changes to the Z06.
At first I ran with only 1 power modifier: the racing exhaust (4,800cr).
However, I got tired of reloading since the race exhaust pushed my Z06 to 438hp at full break-in.
The max I can use is 436hp so I changed the equipped parts. :D

Went from a racing exhaust (4,800cr) to a sports muffler (1,800) and a racing chip (1,500).
This changed everything about the car.

The hp now topped out at 434, which is only 2 under the max. 👍
Even more important though, the feel of the car changed and it seemed like I could get better power out of the engine even with less hp. The sound of the engine was also changed and sounds much better now!

All of this must have been worth it though since I started putting down new times.
No real progress yet...
However, right now I have a clean save. :D
Unfortunately, the save runs a T1 of 14.9__ , yet with my new car setup I am running 14.7__ without much trouble.

Not sure if I will get around to putting in a "good" lap based on the possible T times, but even if nothing else happens I will be comfortable with the racing I did this week.

Plus, this race worked out well since we managed to avoid a one car race.

Yep, it's even more awesome in Moonraker black. Not tried the Z06 since it's faster and American which isn't bad at all but ...

... I'll keep it British this week though, just like the last. :sly:

Fidding about with the settings and I have these times now:

15.357
43.786
1'04.638

Saved the game with the car at 352bhp and power to weight ratio of 3.011. That run was on 353bhp/3.002. I'm at my limit!!!! :scared:

Broke my Opel in... PWR of 2.996 :indiff: Dropped to a stage 1 exhaust... now at 3.081. I love this car too much now! Thank you week 97 👍

If the "super" cars for this week were banned, would make for some amazing variety, considering how many cars I've pushed to 1'05.xxx with just messing around.

And Kent, of course the ZO6 feels more responsive now. The stage 3 exhaust is setup for high RPM power, while the stage 1 is for a broader powerband and more mid range. And I imagine the chip configures for whatever else the car is running with, to make the power band more friendly to the car. But thats just my two cents.

Now to break in the MR-S and get its PWR below 3.111 :dopey:

Your right the race for top RX-7 time is close :scared:
Just wondering Luxy, why didn't you use the type RZ I found it to be much faster than the RS.

Been in the RX7 rz all week. No improvement in a couple of days though.
15.178
43.328
1.03.816

...and I wish Hyundai racer would post more often. Hypnotizing, isn't it?

I never though I could improve on what i had posted before, but the only reason I was still racing was because after my T3 I had a nasty overshoot coming out of the tunnel that not only destroyed my final Trap but took that run out of the running as well. After trying to repeat that performance and stick a nice T4 on the end I managed to improve both my T2 and T3.

CAR: S2000 HP: 342 PWR: 3.081

T1: 15.686
T2: 45.356
T3: 1'06.867

I'm putting this car in my permanent garage.

my Corvette GS is run in with a p/w of 3.004 :) now to see if i can improve my T3 and maybe clinch the Div 2 win :P

Nyu... You can't go anyfaster... with that uber car... :D

I shoudl try some more in the RX-7.. might shave a little off now :D

I guess you shouldn't reduce your car's weight. I've been running yesterday in a S2000 type V (the only S2000 available from the car dealer), and I have :
HP : 420
PWR : 3.000

T1 : 15.535
T2 : 44.645
T3 : 1'06.281 (clean)
after 4 laps.

i dont think i can go any faster than my T3 of 1:03.7xx

time submitted :)

Yes. Judjing from the cars that are doing well this week, this track favors horsepower over cornering. I knew my car was a bad choice anyway. Oh yeah, and their are two S2000 available from the dealer. The type V and the regular S2000. I'm using (yep you guessed it) the lighter, regular S2000. As a variable ratio steering gear dosent seem like it would help much in this situation and definately isn't worth the weight. My tuning sucks as well so thats not helping me any.

Cornering is a good tool though. I ran a T3 of 1'05.3xx with my MR-S, and 1'04.6xx with an Opel Speedster...

Still haven't broken in that MR-S yet either :P

I have 2 S2000 at the car dealer, but the regular one says "This car cannot be purchase from the car dealer, you have to win it."
Then there is only one that can be bought.

As a general rule you can consider that power is more effective on the car's performance than power to weight ratio.
So, if you have a minimum PWR you'd better take a heavy car so that you can max the power. (see week 84 as well).

That was the logic I relied on. I searched for the heaviest cheapest car with the most stock horse power. The Mustang fit the bill.
It handled to my liking. . It sounded great. . and looks pretty cool too :)

Didn't get a chance to run any more, so I'm submitting my previous time :)

RX-7 RS: 37,780cr
Light-weight Stage 1: 1,200cr

It was a highly scientific process, etc, etc ..... actually, I just like the purty blue one :dunce: :) I really wish I could have used the yellow RX-7 RZ, but it's a prize car only.

Here's hoping I didn't blow the last sector *crosses fingers*

Hi!

Brand new to the WRS so here's hoping I dont totally suck! :)

Bought a RX-7 RZ and spent a total of 98730 Cr. PWR 3.020

T1 15.144
T2 43.705
T3 1'04.806

Time submitted.. Great race, great fun.

Cheers!

So, if you have a minimum PWR you'd better take a heavy car so that you can max the power. (see week 84 as well).

It's not only about the PWR, but also about the TWR (torque). The American cars have big engines with a lot of torque at low revs and thus accelerate fast out of the corners. You need a very agile car with a lot of traction to be able to keep up with the American big engined cars.
By sticking supersoft tyres and fitting adjustable suspension, you kind of solve the problem of those cars (they hardly turn...).
A car like the S2000 handles nice, but T8's and rac. suspension improve little on the handling. Then take in mind that the engine peaks out at high revs, and delivers only little power in the mid-rev range and has little torque. So it may have a total PWR of around 3.000, it's PWR at the mid-rev range is worse than those of the American cars and so will be slower...

Conclusion: You'll need a NA tuned big engined car, or a lighter turbocharged car (FR or MR)

Good explanation, but I was meaning something more specific :
Inferno uses a S2000 with only 342 hp and 3.081 PWR, from what I infered that he had removed all the weight he could remove.
With a S2000 too, I reach 420 hp (and 3.000 PWR but that was not the point) and I was stating that for a given car (here the S2000) and a given PWR (here 3.000 minimum), it's always better (as far as my experience can tell) to have as much power as possible.
So I think 420hp @3.000 is better than 342hp @3.081. But if the car could be weightened, 600hp @3.0xx would be even better.

I agree that the S2000 is certainly not the best choice for this week but :
1) I'm deep into GTA San Andreas and don't have much time for racing
2) I don't wanna use everybody else's car and still be 3 secs behind. I'd rather be 3 secs behind with a car I like to drive.

I had the idea that it really was a case of the course. let me explain. In general on a tight twisty course a lighter car is going to be faster than a high hp car. However on a course with more sweeping, faster turns and long straits, the high hp car will be able to make up for what it loses in the corners. as a general rule i always go for light weight so the S2000 is the one I went for first. but after running this course it seems to me that this is one of those faster courses. it has two great speed building sections, (one strait and one long series of easy corners) and with the exception of turns three and four (or two and three if you consider the chicane one corner) most of the other corners are fast sweepers. Including the afore mentioned chicane. ( I was taking it at 100 or so. I cant remember exactly.) As can be seen by the cars that are doing well this week. [usless sidenote]However if this was cote de azure it would be a different story I think.[useless sidenote]

I know, I should have just changed my setup, or my car alltogether, but... Meh

[EDIT]
Oh yeah, I forgot a part. You see not only do you have to look at the power to weight ratio but also the power to traction ratio. you see, two cars with identical pwr's (light weight low power, heavy weight high power) should accelerate at the same rate. however one thing youi have to consider is that the heavyer car requires more power to accelerate at the same rate. It makes the power, but can it put it down? Thats the main reason why I defalt to light weight. I run without aids, and I like to avoid building a car that will swap ends everytime I get on the gas.

Hugo, Flat-out,
Awesome post. 👍

Azuremen,
Point known and taken...
I just didn't take the time to find and set up the sport&chip combo when we started the race.
Plus, the race exhaust matched up to the pwr early on.
Had it nearly perfect :ouch:
Just 2 hp off in my final hp estimates.

Regarding the all of the pwr, twr, hp...
Hugo has it right, but so did flat out.

But there is still more to be said.

If you ask me, you can go too heavy in the pursuit of power for a pwr race.
Just depends on the course and the car.
With a car that is too heavy on trial mtn it is easy to lose time on the sections after t2.

For that matter though, after t3 we see another spot where the overall power gets the job done.

So like I said earlier in this thread... I think there can be an ideal weight in these races.

Unlike earlier though, I do not feel 1100kg is enough to keep up in this race (not without a pro like hugo driving).

Now I feel like 1300 is just about perfect.
Gives me the chance to run a heavy car's braking power on a semi light weight car.
None the less, a semi light weight vette with the stance and proportions of an awesome street racer. 👍

Also, that vette comes with the american v8 that hugo mentioned.

Gotta run,

I have 2 S2000 at the car dealer, but the regular one says "This car cannot be purchase from the car dealer, you have to win it."
Then there is only one that can be bought.

thats odd. in my (NTSC U/C) version the regular S2000 is purchasable. I payed 33,800 for it. And it can be and is turbocharged.

Well I screwed up my chances of improving, the car's p/w goes below 3 at about 167 miles and I saved the game at 166:grumpy:

I'll submit my time later on

Time submitted :)

T1: 14.888

No I didn't use the Vette :D
