So as you guys saw with my Guide:

European Clubman Cup 400: BAC Mono, mostly to demonstrate how open that race is above 400 PP in terms of car choice

Lightweight K-Cup: Honda S660. That was more brutal then I expected, could absolutely fly around the other cars in the first section as well as out of the chicane (Carefully of course, otherwise you will flip) but the Cappacinos destroy me on the straights.

Ferrari Circuit Challenge: Ferrari 458, First time I've used it since I replaced for the Hypercar parade with the FXX-K (Seriously, any race with that car is cakewalk now) and as it is my Challenge build, unsurprisingly it was hardly a contest, even if my tunign could use work with the backend (which might require a look at the GR.4 car for a more stable setup).

Nissan GT-R Cup: Nissan GT-R Nismo, Slight power buff and Racing hards and outside some close calls in passing cars, it was easy.

World Group C Championship: Porsche 962C, absolute blast for the race. Feel like if you know the track enough then ANY of the cars would be ideal, but I personally HAD to go with an IMSA theme for it so it was the Porsche and appropreately, the Momo livery of the 1992 Watkins Glen race Winner. There's very easy passing you can do in Turn 1, the bus stop (Basically Daytona but in the opposite direction and bigger curbs), the Carousel and the final two corners and all on stock setup and Racing Softs.

Is this all cash rewards again because of Christmas, bcs it's second week in row?



Race 1 - DB5 '64 - if I'm not wrong, it is a Bond car so I took it for this race. Won easily, got 100k ticket.

Race 2 - Cappuccino '91 - great fight on one of myws favorite Tokyo layouts.

Race 3 - 430 Scuderia '07 - first wanted to pick Tributo, but it would be too easy. Now I had big fight with Tributo and I managed to win! Got the 200k ticket.

Looks like I'll have to do some kind of a cheater setup for the Group C race - on lap five I was already 15 seconds ahead of the 4th place, but the two leading Porsches were still eight seconds up the road doing mid 1'34s on racing mediums. There's no way I'll be able to hit a high 1'32 on mediums or without a Death Star sized turbo to even catch them in time, let alone pass them.
 
If anyone needs any help getting into the spirit of Group C at The Glen, this should help.



I feel like this race is a Christmas present just for me. I used to go to some of the IMSA races at Watkins Glen back in the early 90s (when I was a wee lad). Saw a few of these race cars in person, and it's something you never forget.

They used all their imagination power to choose holiday special gifts, no juice left to think about weekly rewards, so all credits 😁 (which is better than the holiday not so special prizes)
I sorta like the surprise, especially for the six-star car tickets which can include invite-only cars. Plus if it's a car that's also in a color I'm not a fan of, I can always sell it, basically turning it into a credits ticket. But 800k in credits is also splendid, especially since that's on top of the rewards for each race. Not to mention that I'm likely gonna skip this next week's daily races, as I hear Race A is gonna be at SSRX. As such, I may as well complete the three challenges that I have left.

I do wonder what sort of Special Event could be next? I know we've had them for DTM, Tourist Trophy, Group C, the JGTC, and others. Maybe instead of seeing a one-make race for the Honda Civic (EK), it could be a Type R Meeting event, featuring all the various Honda Type R models. However, before we get that, I think we could use at least another Integra Type R model or two, like the USDM Acura Integra Type R from the very early 00s - the one that also came in yellow - or the DC5 model that was sold here as the Acura RSX Type-S.

Similarly, we could get an event for the Mazda Roadster in general instead of just the NA model, though we'd definitely need the NB and NC models first.

But I suppose there are still more venues to explore for stuff like the DTM and Group C events, too. The Group C event could definitely end up having a race at the Daytona Road Course, as well as Suzuka, Fuji, Autopolis, Brands Hatch, Monza, Nurburgring GP, Road Atlanta, Laguna Seca, and Spa-Francorchamps - all venues that hosted Group C racers between 1988 and 1992. Plus, if we got Lime Rock Park, Silverstone, and Sonoma, then those would also be appropriate venues.

I won using a stock 962 C with RS tyres on, hitting a 1'34.8xx as my PB lap. I won by over 5s, and the AI never set a fastest lap throughout the race. That said, in other races, the AI has hit 1.33s, and I've not been able to keep up with that.

There's certainly a ton of variation. In the end I went with a stock R92CP on softs, began doing 1'33s myself and won comfortably. That one could have been won with mediums too but softs gave enough of an edge to do it with the CRB against the Jaguars that are all over the place and Nissans that do not care one bit if you're alongside. Some extra manoeuvrability helps a lot when doing panic evasive moves.

I don't know how you're getting that sort of lap time out of the R92! I've just rerun it on Normal mode and couldn't manage better than a 1:37.7XX. I've had to reduce the difficulty just to get a win. Previously couldn't do better than 4th, some 18s adrift of the front pack of 962s.

I also managed a win in a stock R92CP on softs, with a 1'34.4xx being my FL.

I had tried the R92CP before and was getting nowhere until I realised I had dialed it down to 799PP 😅

Well, driving it like a total madman certainly helps... and while it's not strictly stock there's no big turbo, only an adjustable H pattern gearbox and naturally a suspension and LSD setup of my own. My public tuning days are behind but the work never stopped.

Dancing past everyone... the 6th place Jaguar and 3rd place Mazda certainly gave some new grey hair.



And the fastest lap of the race, fittingly on the last one.

 
Any one got a Copen tune for the Kei race? I’m getting killed in this one.

I used to drive my Copen at the Key races using this tune right here, I even beat the 1hr Human Comedy race with it.

Sure, it may need some tweaks here and there because of the PP system changing through the updates but still worth checking I guess.

I come bearing a Christmas gift of a new feature for the randomiser: There is now a "randomness" toggle alongside the difficulty and LCD/Invitation toggles. By default this is set to the previous behaviour, but you can now set this to "Prioritise cars I have not used as much", which will do as it says - it will try to give you cars you haven't used as much so that over the weeks it will go over as much of the car roster as possible. Useful if you want to try and use as many cars as possible! While doing this I've also made it so that the site remembers your difficulty, LCD/Invitation, and randomness preferences between visits.

Happy holidays all, and hopefully we get more fun events in the new year! (I want something for the '60s cars, myself)

This is absolute fire! Thanks, once again, this tool is really improving my GT7 enjoyment by a lot!

Anyways, here we go with the usual recap of the weeklies, which I finally managed to complete since today is my first day off work. And it's been quite stressful over there recently.

1) Euro Sunday Cup 400 @ Alsace Test Reverse

I had completely forgotten that this layout even existed, and it's a shame because if a fun one! The Merak SS given to me by the randomizer, fully stock on CM tires, drove like a charm over these ups and downs through France. Overtook the leader on the last lap for a CRB victory and the first ticket.

2) Kei Car Challenge @ Tokyo South

Always loving the fun Tokyo layout and the fun Kei car racing. So the tool sent me here with a Copen, which means it was time to bring out of retirement my Weebpen! It was still on an old pre-1.49 Praiano setup which was around 390pp nowadays, and it wasn't enough to win since the Cappuccino up ahead was destroying me in the straights. Only managed a P2, but it wasn't enough, so I checked the updated Praiano tune and noticed I was basically just missing the racing exhaust manifold, for that extra 5-6 Hp. This changed the game completely together with a few touch ups on the front downforce and suspensions, since I dominated this time. Wow. CRB again.

3) Ferrari Circuit Challenge @ Catalunya GP

Meh, a track I really don't like driving on that much, mostly because of that final sector. The provided car was a stock 430 Scuderia, super super fun car to drive, first time for me. Completely stock on SH tires it was a bit tail happy, but there's nothing I wouldn't forgive to this beauty. Only managed a P2 sadly, since the 458 up ahead was two seconds too fast, but it's Catalunya so I'll take it and just get away from here with the second ticket.

4) GT-R Challenge @ Tokyo East

The given Nismo 400R wasn't enough in her stock form here to take on the army of R35s, this layout is too much about power compared to the rest and 400HP wasn't enough. Since I don't feel like touching the 400R at all given how unique of a car it is, I opted for the R35 T-Spec and oh how things changed! Fight fire with fire, they say.

5) The World Group C @ Watkins Glen

Hands down the most fun event of the week, group C cars feel so much at home here at the Glen it's unreal, it was just amazing driving the Jaguar through here. The 900pp Praiano tune with RS tires proved to be an overkill but the driving pleasure was too much, I just kept on driving even though the race was done by lap 5. Simply beautiful.

Daily marathon ticket was the average 4* which was weirdly enough a full car ticket. Obviously I had to win the most useless one, the i3.
 
Any one got a Copen tune for the Kei race? I’m getting killed in this one.
I could tell you the exact part you need to install to win easily, but that would just be a Copen mechanism.

I absolutely love the Group C event at Watkins Glen. It's very close to being my favourite circuit in the game, which considering how much I love Spa, Nürburgring, Le Mans and Suzuka, is really saying something. The Group C event is ideal for this track as well. Now for a similar event with tyre wear and fuel usage :drool:
 
If anyone is still struggling to get P1 for the Lightweight K Cup round at Tokyo South, I wonder if it may be worth specifically using Comfort Hards, as it'll allow the car to have more power before it hits the 400 PP limit.

That's not possible. Comfort soft compound is mandatory.
 
Why do you just "wonder", why don't you try yourself ? ...
Because I've already cleared it for this week, albeit by coming in third with a Honda Beat. But even before that, I had gotten first, though I can't recall how. At any rate, I'd imagine that you'd want settings that are better-suited to the long straights and higher-speed corners of Tokyo Expressway South.

I’m in a similar boat. I previously got first with the Beat. But then later I tuned the Beat beyond what I can do for 400 PP on my old tune and so my tune for the 400 PP no longer works. I can’t remember what the car combo was to get there now.

I may do the Cappuccino route
 
It looks like The Silvia Sisters will become the second World Circuits series to also be a Special Event as every car eligible for the series is now in stock in the UCD, either as a freshly-minted Special Pick or as part of the regular rotation. This includes the 2002 Nissan Silvia spec-R Aero (S15)...at a discount despite having less than 2,000 miles on the odometer and being a Special Pick. Hopefully, it won't be as hard as the World Circuits version, where one needs a Silvia tuned to around 600 PP to win despite the "recommended" PP being only 500 PP.

On a related note, it looks like the Lightweight K-Cup Special Event (the first World Circuits series to be a Special Event) is going to be a one-off much like the Fiat 500 F was back near the start of the Weekly Challenges. That would explain why the All-Japan GT Car and DTM series had 4 Special Events each rather than the customary 3, and why an existing Lightweight K-Cup event is among this week's Challenges.
