@ TrackBound7, I agree with all your points, I used to drive and race from bumper cam, for years in GT4.
But although it is an additional challenge, so is ABS off and shifing with the clutch, but to me I rather be slower and drive from cockpit. the experience is too nice, bumper cam does not do it for me anymore.
I use the track map to help me locate where every one is, and yesterday I knew Juju was on my rear bumper, just did not expect him passing me inside that curve, as I was too concentrated trying to get as close to the rail as I could.

I have always been a supporter of bumper cam. You have a much better range of vision with it, as you said. I haven't gotten rid of the HUD stuff yet, but maybe I should try it.

It probably wouldn't have made a difference if you were in bumper cam. You and I were side by side, with you maybe leading by a few feet. It was pretty obvious to me it wasn't a malicious move, so I am not going to get bent out of shape about it (although from the look of those pics, my MR2 did,)

Besides I managed to come back and beat you in the race anyways :tup

EDIT (update for VCRC London)

Well gents, I was inspired to tackle the 24 hours of Le Mans by this past weekend's events. I may be finished by next Monday or Tuesday, or I may not. Because of that, I am going to race next week on another GT5 account and PSN. Same ole Juju, new PSN.

Just realized we did rather well last night in London....:sly:

I love driving premiums from the cockpit cam, but even on a 52" plasma in HD I can't see jack. Thus I use bumper cam because it gives me better perception when combined with track scale at 2.

I found race 1 frustrating after getting binned into a barrier and losing out, but I guess my disconnect and subsequent pole and win in race 2 evened it out.

London is very awkward for clean racing, but was still a blast. So thank you all for a giggle over the races.

Really enjoyed race 2 because I was riding freaky's bumper (apart from the straights) and really had no idea how I was gonna get by him. Then he gifted me first and I ran something like 5 laps all within 0.05s they were all .9xx which just cemented my lead.

Guess my MR2 was lacking some guts as the start and the straight made it difficult. Not to mention the last corner, I had sag on my bumper and there was no way I could brake late because I just locked up or ended wide when trying to make up time there.

Tough at times driving against ABS but have to say I was content with my performance on the comfort mediums without it. Driving with ABS has become so mundane and boring!

Maybe because of the lower speeds or maybe I'm just getting used to it, but the no-ABS seemed to really suit these cars at London. I know no-ABS works really well with FF's so I'm sure that's part of it, but the car seemed rather well behaved on the brakes.

All corners bar the last were fine. That was the one I struggled with because I had to break early or I lost it. I guess that's the natural tendency of the MR layout working against me. I was running a 2/1 brake balance - have the same on the vintage MR2 although that one is a lot harder to control!

I also got wobbly into the first corner when I was forced side by side and the kerbs made me lock up. But over the three races I only had two lock ups - one my fault the second a result of side by side fun over the bumps of the kerb.

Now contemplating how to set up my new room when I move on July 1st - do I get a 32" TV and a wheel or do I get a 40+" and a wheel at next paycheque... Decisions decisions!

On that subject, I am curious on what you will find out on Brake Balance settings when driving in 100% rain, when we did the test the other day, I found the braking without ABS particularely challenging. so far less seems to me more efficient, I am thinking 2 front 0 back.

In the short practice session at Spa I was driving without ABS and a BB of 3/0 I think and it was fine. Obviously braking distances are longer but other than that it wasn't a big problem. Couple of the corners were downhill and they were the most challenging as the car just wanted to go straight if you locked it up. Finding braking markers on a cloudy day will be tough. I usually use shadows on the track or the curbs as braking markers at Spa, never run in the rain before.

I was at 3:14/400PP so I'm thinking maybe 375-385 PP to hit the target of around 3:20. I did try an older RX-8/4 speed and it was fun but the gearbox was terrible, so I think the premium with the 6 speed (if it is a 6 speed:crazy:) would work great around Spa.

And for Dit, if you only have to wait one paycheque, get the bigger TV and the wheel:)

As mentioned before the next two weeks are holidays in Canada, so with several of our racers being in Canada, How many people are able to do Tuesday's just for the two weeks in question.

I found it awkward too, especially coming out of the sweeping left at Trafalgar square, you have the run down to the left right flat out corners, you have to be online there or you have to life or tag the wall, so it was awkward when you know if you turn in the guy behind will PIT you, get squeezed into the wall or have to back out. I'll have to check the replay but I think in the two races I was at the back, it was because I tried not to squeeze them and ran wide into the walls.

Race 2 was great, there were a few incidents early on that I got through, then I just had to lap my way to victory, but you kept the pressure on and eventually I cracked. A great example of how being patient can pay off. After you took the lead I couldn't make anything back. Well played win.

Race 3 we were at it again. I noticed you were having issues with the final turn so I got a run on you down the straight, I saw you lock up going into turn 1, got excited, then turned in too early and put in into the inside wall :(

tl;dr version awesome not keen on the track, very keen on the people who raced it with me.

RE TUESDAYS - I can do them, I might have to skip race 1, as my wife goes out so I'll have to put my daughter to bed and get her settled. If I get lucky she will skip her nap and I'll be fine.

That's no problem at this point. I may or may not be here next Monday or Tuesday but can't say which one at this point.

Man, I was really looking forward to racing that Corolla:ouch: Just found out yesterday that for the first time in my 17 years in Windsor the Freedom Festival Fireworks is on a Monday, tomorrow, not the usual Wednesday.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windsor–Detroit_International_Freedom_Festival

It's one of the largest fireworks displays in the world and I've never missed it so I have to go. Over 1 million people on both sides of the river attend!!!

EDIT: Of course if it's raining and storming it'll be put back to Tuesday so let's hope for inclement weather!

Due to some people not being able to make the Monday races tomorrow and next week, I will host both Monday and Tuesday night. The night with the greatest turnout will be published as the official results.

Round #4 VCRC

menown / Freakyweakywoo / Toyota MR2 86 / 355pp / 1:10.598 / EST

I'll have to get back to you with the PP, turned the PS3 off and totally forgot the number and my daughter is watching netflix now, I know it is around 98% on the limiter. I'll edit this around 8/9 tonight.

EDIT 355PP, I thought it was lower lol.

I hope to make both nights this week. I was hoping to have my G27 rig all set for the Spa racing next week, but just not sure it will be 100% complete and ready to go. I have the inverted pedals just right, and I think the steering wheel plate will work out right (need to finish that first). Struggling a little with the shifter mount though. Had my brother bend up a nifty bracket at the shop, but he didn't use a thick enough piece...has a little more give than I want. I have braced up some of it which is better and think I have a good idea to complete it. Still need to come up with paint color for the roll cage (ummmm PVC ;) ). Probably just a black or grey of sorts...carbon fiber plating.

TomBrady / HugoStiglitz_420 / Toyota MR2 1600 G-Limited Super Charger ' 86 / 360pp / 1:10.762 / EDT

Sorry for the late submission. I missed the last 2 races because I was in florida, so I would like to race tomorrow night.

I should make it tonight (if we don't lose power...had some pretty good storms moving through). Planning on tomorrow still too.

I am crazy tired tonight, so I will not be racing tonight. If someone could send me the results in a pm I will post them after tomorrow's races.

Great evening again, thank you everyone for an other great evening of online racing.
Next track will be very interesting, Spa in the rain, did a few lap with Mike, we discovered that 100% wet track is not always 100% wet track and our times were improving when we dropped the PP, very strange, the mysteries of GT5.
Will post some pictures of tonite race tomorrow.

Boy I screwed up tonight. I qualified my Corolla on CS tires by mistake, at 333pp. Found that out when I went to enter the track tonight and couldn't because I had CS on and hadn't even bought CM's! I ran the first race at 340PP and was still off the pace. For the second and third race I turned on the ABS which helped and dialed it up to 342 and I was able to run mid-1:10's when under pressure to catch Cote' in race 2. Race three was pure luck, after Mike and Dit clipped the guardrail, I was 8 seconds clear and just cruised the rest of the way.

Looking forward to Spa. Hope everyone get's the DLC so we can run Motegi!!!

Bizarre night of racing for me. Race 1 started out good and then I just started giving up opportunities. Race 2 and 3 both started out terrible for me, but ended up surprisingly okay. Looking forward to the open spaces of Spa, but the wet track comment by Cote concerns me about TT lap times being skewed.
