My quickest lap of the day, not that it matters any

21.030 / 42.053 / 1'16.781

not saved, not clean :irked: no clean save yet :banghead:

Well, if it's any comfort, this 'pro' is stuck at 1'17.2 - I have particularly much trouble hitting T1 consistently. Maybe it has something to do with that I put the wheel assist back on Simulation Mode. If that's keeping me back for too long, I might have to switch back to Amateur mode. :embarrassed:

What wheel are you using Arwin? I use my momo on pro mode all the time, I find it easier than sim mode .

I'm using the Wingman FF (GT Force Clone) ... Amateur mode is a lot better than Pro mode I find, as Pro is the loss of feeling of Amateur mode combined with the loss of grip of Simulation mode. :D

I like Simulation mode because the feeling is much more realistic, so you feel much better how the conditions (track, speed, grip, etc) affect your driving. However, as it is a lot more realistic, it's also a lot more difficult. But also a lot more fun. :D (well, sometimes ... not during iLink sessions especially when your opponents use a DS2 :D - same btw if you want to beat a record on certain car/track combos)

EDIT: After a pause for some entertainment I wasn't ready for sleep yet so I went at it some more. 20.9/42.0/1'17.1 ... Still a long way to go. :irked: This was without sound though. :D

EDIT: finally got some decent T1 times (20.6) and am getting *slightly* more consistent at them. However everything I win there I lose to my best lap in the second hairpin. :banghead: I guess tomorrow I'll just have to watch the replay and learn. :irked:

You can really tell it's the first time I'm doing this track in a serious challenge. :irked:

Well... with time on this car and time on all the other cars of the past weeks, it has become obvious that I am limited in my abilities.

Although I made the recent move into the pro class, it seems that my skills with cars in the prototype class are limited.

If I was to look back on my performances during this weekly racing series, it would be proven to all of us that this is true...

Take for example the R390GT1 from a few weeks back.

My performance was horrible, but then compare that to the races of other weeks... it is clear that there is a gap between the speed of my races when using other cars compared to the speed of my racing when using these "super lemans cars."

Um, I would have thought that illegal.

Well, even if it isn't, if I run this I'll skip the short cut. Seems to me staying within the confines of the track design and route is more ethical. The leaving the track part bothers me. And the hitting the wall part.
Hopefully someone can explain it to me.

T, it's just a joke ;) he don't take a short cut really  :P

im finally startin to pull down some times i feel good about, tho theres still room for improvement. this car is so touchy, i hate not being able to tune a car. my best tonight so far is a 20.8/42.0/1'16.8 ...hopefully more to come off yet, i was runnin pretty hard on that one, but also kind of light on some spots cuz i didnt wanna mess up. I still dont know the track/car well enough to run balls to the wall w/ it. cuz if i try, i usually DO end up in the wall..hehe

i think next week we should do a buyable car, and Mr. P shouldnt be allowed to do any weight reduction. hehe. like they do in the real races...the faster you go, the more weight you get

Im not running too well this week ..I can run Smooth clean laps but im way off the pace..Does it help to have TCS off..? allthough this would probably kill me if it was off ..Im braking heavy for the corners..Could this be my downfall ..?

That's exactly what they do in the Danish Touring Car championship. But looking at Mr. P's times I highly doubt it would change anything :grumpy:

This car/track combo means a lot of hard work for me and frustration levels are up pretty high now. Thank god that after a good 30 minutes I first got a 1'17.1, but with a T1 21.3 that didn't look to bad. And sure enough I got a 1'16.9 and then a 1'16.8 shortly afterwards. Both of these with a bad T1, so I'm finally getting close to Max at least.

Max will be a lot faster by now , i expect he'll be running mid 1.15 T3's:banghead: thats if he's not chickened out :P

Talentless  jeez man ??? you playing mr gullible this week eh ?:D i never cheat ! u should know me by now :mischievous:

Whoa didn't mean for a little joking too go this far  oh well. . . A little drama is never that bad.

Me too :( Just can't piece a whole lap together that's fast, I can do all the corners right just not on the same lap as each other :irked:

Keep the tcs on Pedro, and try slide into the corners early straightening up as soon as you can making for a quick exit . Easier said than done though

I am not finding the sliding issue the hard part, the lining up without having to counter-steer is what is getting difficult to me. I would be getting through the first 6 turns perfect, Guarantee I either spin out or hit a wall on the next turn. . . darn it

Yeah, you cant finesse this thing around turns, youve gotta FORCE it...haha, its got a little too much grip for its own good

Ok, how is this course taken, full detail is needed? And why does the car repeatedly lock up in the first turn?

I have. 90-95% I'll hit the wall or be about to. I've no idea how to take the corners.

You just love to question everything don't ya T :irked: Here's some tips I picked up from watching Ron's replay ;)

Ok ... I'll try keep this short

Turn 1 stay to the left and brake as soon as you get underneath the little concrete flyover ... 3rd gear

That little chicane that comes next is a pain, just pray you get through that without slamming either side of the fence, brake, turn and drop to 2nd early for the next corner , stay in 2nd right round to the T1 going up to 3rd just before T1.

The next 2 hairpins, all I can say is wide in , 2nd gear, line up early for exit, and power as soon as you can .

After T2 ... 3rd gear , light on the throttle , keep off the rumble on the inside .

Next is the tunnel and the right hander ... brake on entrance to the tunnel drop to 2nd then go in wide on the turn up to 3rd as soon as possible ....
...then there's a double left, turn for that early, 2nd gear upping it to 3rd half way through staying in 3rd till next right hairpin ... same again wide in, 2nd gear .
And the last chicane brake at 100m marker drop to 3rd and hold it up the hill, for the home straight .

I'm not too good at lap descriptions T so that'll have to do you :P

Well as I had mentioned before... I am not doing very well with this sucker.

Oddly, I tried a little experiment, and even with my sim mode prize car 787 tuned up, with the same hp, I couldnt get a lap better than my current best.

Fortunatly I am seeing signs that there could be light at the end of the tunnel...

I am making a little progress here and there, but it is all on bad laps that cant be used for this comp. (unclean)

So for now Im just gonna keep with it, but if there are any other members looking to give up advice like lotus... please bring it on.

Oh yea...

Thanks for the advice lotus, although I didnt ask for it, it helps us all.

(gotta say though, for the newest pro, I sure sound like an amatuer in this. lol)

had another try w/ this tonight, and i wouldnt be surprised if i cant do any better than the time i pulled the other night. while this a great car to be driving considering some of the other cards we've been dealt in the past, hehe, it still makes it no less frustrating when it wont do what you want it to. especially when you have to adjust your driving style to fit the car, and not adjust the car to fit your driving style. im still havin fun w/ this tho and think it was a great car/track combo 👍 it certainly is a true test of skill for this one. But just hearing that thing scream past 9k rpms makes it all worth while :D
