Nae bother Kelly ..May i suggest that when buying parts go for a well balanced setup ..:) i would post them up now but i cant remember everything off the top of my head ..
But try and get the transmission sorted but not all top end parts.. maybe some suspension
Im running t6's on mine (needed the extra cash for other mods) but try and avoid mods that cannot be changed..with exception of weight reduction stage 1..Hope this helps you out some

Yeah cheers for that :) I did notice that when adding the mods I kept forgetting about the transmission and leaving it til last when I had hardly any credits left :irked: :dunce:

I was doing the same i was going for engine tunings first ..The mere sight of power was too much to resist:irked: ..But not the way to go .

Be sure to let me know if you come up with a better combination of parts than i have :D :P if your gonna use this car :)

May i just add ..Anyone wishing not to disclose their setups etc Please don't feel pressured into doing so ..:) ;)

I just done it because it's the way i am ..Just don't beat me too badly when i give yoose my mods list :D

well....i WAS all happy to come to come on here and report a 24.6/46.0 w/ the car im using untill i saw a 22.x/44.x??? Good god thats insane....looks like i need to keep testing

The whole car equation seems to be sparking a lot of interest here. I can say the car I am currently running would probably pull a 23 and low 45 uppper 44 if I could drive it a tad better. I think I have solved the equation. I tested out 8 cars out, but basically I have a list of must do items. So right off the bat I have subtracted them from my total 125000. I have not tested that S2000 yet. I don't think it would be able to hold up to what I got now. I have not tested that Z06 and it looks to be in everyone's list. I might try that one, I also will go back to the car I started with and redo thje setup on it. I have a feeling thaT I put too much power into it and neglected tires. T4's. We will see.

I'm getting 24.8's and 47.3's after just 15mins in my new car.

Thats pretty good for a beginner like me and since I dont know this track to well, I'm guessing it's the car. :D

will be back with more posts later. ;)

I'm not planning on racing for several hours to get cash and don't want to restart 15 or more times in order to get the right car. i tried an rx7, it's not fast enough, i'm just going to skip this one. sorry.

Ok, just to give out a little hint, these are the cars that I've tested so far.

MR-S GT-S - Not a bad car.
Dodge Viper GTS - CRAP.
RUF 3400S - Not fast enough.
Audi S4 - Might revisit this one.
Elise 190 - Excellent car, just not enough power.
Supra RZ - Meh, had a decent go with it but I might need more time with her.
Lotus V8 SE - Crap.
RX-7 RS - Very nice. :mischievous:
Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R - Not a bad ride.

Since we are almost half way through the week, maybe we should start giving up a bit more information for those who are struggling with this, but that's entirely up to you if you want to disclose what cars you are using and what mods you have put on.

Hey Boom i've tried just about every car you have with exception of the MR2..

The Supra RZ is ok but i don't think it's a competitor :irked:
RX-7 RS tried a wee go with it but never really gave it a real chance..What do you reckon give it a go..?

SVT Mustang my current ride got a 46.0 with this beast ..A bit hard to drive though..Based on the balanced setup as mentioned earlier this time with T7's on..

Hey Pedro,

Well, I'm fond of the RX-7, she did well for me. Maybe with a different set up I could get her down to T2 or 44. She's close. Give her a good shot, a nice car indeed. Like the handling of it much more than the Mustang.

The Mustang is a beast, still tinkering with the set up, it's a car that could get you on the podium. The handling on it is a bit quirky though, but manageable.

My tire choices have either been T6's or T7's, not anything less and never T8's. Just too much cash for those.

Hey T,

Only put about 31 miles on her to get a T2 of 46.3, so I'm sure with more time, that will go down.

Cheers Rob i might just give it a shot :)

Anyways here's my setup as promised (it's for the Mustang) but basically the same as the Z06 with exception of tyres ..I was using T6's on the Vette..

Here goes i even done the math for yoose..

The car Mustang SVT 31.150

Mods installed
Semi racing suspension 7.400
Racing muffler 4.800
Sports Rom 1.500
N/A Tune Stage 2 12.500
Port Polish 5.500
Racing tranny 10.400
Twin Clutch 2.700
Racing flywheel 1.050
Driveshaft 3.000
T7's 35.000
Weight stage 1 .. 1.200
Weight stage 2 .. 5.500
Oil change twice 500

Total spent on car and mods 122.200 you could instal a triple clutch if needed theres still enough in the budget..

This setup got me a 46.0 @ T2

I may have blown my chances of getting a good result this week by giving my game plan away but i don't care :)

I hope someone will find some use for this and please let me know how you get on and advise of anychanges i could make..
Cheers..
Good luck ;)

Well following Boom here, a list of what I tried out

Lancer RS VI - good on paper, no LSD or VCD don't try it
Lancer Makenin edition - both - same as before but a little slower
Lancer VI GSR - Worst of the four
Viper - Ouch, how does insurance hike up sound to you?
Elise - not fast enough
ZZS - same fate.
Griffith 500 - too much for what you get.

I still want to know that car with a 2.00 power- weight ratio car. . . I might actually be driving it, but with a different setup. I will try that RX-7 RS and the Z06, but I don't think they will cut it.

oh yeah here are a few others

S13 1800cc - not worth a look
S13 2000cc - a better chance but needs better suspension
S14 - Good balance - competative ? probably not
S15 - don't bother

I do not believe you can get the Umph outta the trueno for this one. I was even toying with the idea of going FF, but that is nagonna happen.

I'd considered the speedster, but holland and others can attest to its amazing handling.

That was another idea I had running in my head, but I am unsure if it would be able to keep up. That long straight is what scares me with the good handling cars, such as the Elise, ZZS and Speedster. Light weight with a lot of get up and go, but no go- then go. I will toss it around tonight though, sounds like a plan.

Yeah I figured as much, you need to drop money on a LSD to get them anywhere near being a rival, and then the power turning issue. I figured as much though.

(I just repeated myself in the same manner -> D'oh)

Funny that the Mustang got mentioned and is performing well.
I said to Ron before even having a look at whats on offer that the Mustang is a cheap and fast car and worth a try but funnily enough I never even tried it :odd: I've used it before in a credit limit challenge a long time ago and instantly thought of it as a competitor .

I'll have to try it tomorrow now instead, already got a couple of beers down and there's no way I'm drivin :D

i tried the speedster out, and its nice and light...but i dont think you can get the power out of it. maybe i just didnt use my cash wisely enough, i dont know...but the thing only comes w/ what, 140hp stock? even thtas a little low to try and hike up enough to be a competitor, even w/ its light weight. but hell, im no expert, thats just my take on it, if you can get it to perform well then more power to ya :)

Miata, the speedster handles well? Huh?
Puuling from my memory it does with a little tuning, not too much. Handling in this trakc will only help you from the Chicane before T1 to the last turn before the tunnel to the straight. It might have a fighting chance.

I am so glad miata is back... we are actually talking about the cars now.

Its cool if you guys wanna keep your picks secrets, but I have some news...

2.0 hp to weight
.168 torque
fully custom suspension
brakes
medium slick tires

The only problem is the little bit of loss from the med slicks, but they seem to be holding up well and are managing to beat and meet the testing times from when I used less power and med-med tires.

Im gonna stick with the med slicks for now because with them, and the stats above, I also meet the 125 exactly.

So it looks like my choice is made.

also put down a few worthy times...

24.8
47.4

Those times are on laps that have been passed with worse t times, so those times will be matched and then actually come down.

Talk to you all with updates asap.

W/ the car im usin right now ive got enough money leftover for 4 oil changes if i need it. man, 250 bucks is kinda steep for an oil change dont you think?? im glad it doesnt cost that much to my oil changed in my REAL car! haha

I could have an awesome set up with a different set of tires and a few other changes... then use an oil change... it would work out perfectly, but the oil puts me exactly 150 over the limit...

That means its a no go... 150 is really close to nothing at all, but its still enough to obviously make a difference... hence, I woulnt do it.

Plus, I just got into testing a new car.

"soft" tires, (t7 I think it is) with an hp/w ratio of 2.3, yet I put down a 46.5 t2.

That was an awesome set up and it may be what I race from here out.

Just remember, unless boom says otherwise, do not go a dollar over the limit.

Edit:

46.1 and 24.5 just went down with my new car and set up... its sweet and its only got a 2.3 ratio :D

Dont know how that stacks up so far, but Im gonna search this thread for t times to see where I stand with that.

back soon

Ah thanks for that info Kent. I actually took the T7s off and put on T6s and man what a difference. A total, with my best run on both by .9 seconds. I still have cash too spend too because I didn't change anything else. hehe. I am psyched :D
