Bwaahahhaahaahaa.... loser

On Topic.. I am now, consistently, in Free Run, doing sub 1.04s with a best of 1.03.5 something.. Still need to find another second or so to play with the big boys :grumpy:

Well... I'm not too sure, and I really want to cut another .2 sec off my total time ( and I think it's possible to do, but wont be easy cause I have run seperate laps that were .1 faster on the first and second laps), but for now, after tonights 30 min session, I have the following improved times...

L1 T1: 27.633
L1 T2: 44.617

L2 T1: 20.537
L2 T2: 37.546
L2 T3: 1:02.863

Need to work on combining my best two laps together. But this is my fastest overall yet... Oh well.. Maybe tomorrow night... How is everyone else doing on improving?

Yay, I have cracked the 1.03 barraier. (spelling)

just thought i would bring this up next to your times so i can compare :P

Well improve my times, I did :P

L1 T1: 27.368
L1 T2: 44.496

L2 T1: 20.558
L2 T2: 37.486
L2 T3: 1.02.574

I improved my overall time by about .5 seconds and IF I can get my fastests 1st lap with my 1.02.504 2nd lap I would be able to shave another .4 seconds off my overall time agian. But thats a big IF as i cant seem to get my second lap together. Im consitently running very fast first laps T2 with 44.2-3 but can get a desent 2nd lap.

I have a question for you people (as the 1'03 I ran was a complete miracle); how are you taking the first corner? I mean that whole little chicane thingy. I have been braking into 5th gear (automatic; I still have to figure out how todo the manual), and coasting until just before the apex on the second part. Is this how it is done?

For Boombexus
BULLETIN:
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has determined that the maximum size load capacity on my butt is two persons at one time, unless I install handrails or safety straps. As you have arrived sixth in line to ride my ass today, please take a number and wait your turn.
Thank You,
Boombexus.

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

But seriously, I managed to get back in to this yesterday and iI like what's happened. ;) 20.873, 38.192, 1'03.586. Nearly 2 seconds faster than my best to date. Most of the progress was when I figured out to take the Hairpin in 3rd and the big Esses in 4th with careful throttle control 👍 My next session tomorrow morning is working on that last corner.

My settings
15.4/15.4
59/65
6/8 8/9
1.9/2.1
0.0/0.0
4/4

17/19

10/12/15
FD: 3.239 (Tranny Trick)
0.95/1.10
ASM = 0; TCS = 1.

For Jpec07

i enter the first corner in 6th flat and at the apex I brake a little and change into 5th (manual) then because the weight shifting and line im able to just about floor it throught the second corner in 5th.

But its easier said then done.

I'm with small_fryz here, only I brake a little earlier I think, and down change, and then try to hold it flat in 5th through the second corner, with the inside wheels as close to the grass as possible. I think that most of the time however is to be made at the hairpin, and the long right hand sweeper before the second tunnel. That's my feelings..

Well, had another go, and while I'm sure I'm still not better overall than small_fryz, at least my time has improved.. Think I might have to accept defeat, cause I'm struggling to find places to increase my times. Two things that have helped me decrease this time... 1 - Starting in 2nd gear. 2 - Giving my car an oil service (it was black after the first few sessions, but the light had not come on yet)... So no wonder I was in awe at the last time posted by small_fryz... At least I'm a little closer now, and not debilitatingly slow...

New fastest time...
L1 T1: 27.694
L1 T2: 44.933
L2 T1: 20.487
L2 T2: 37.437
L2 : 1:02.559

My settings are as follows:
16.4 / 16.4
60mm / 60mm
5/5
9/9
1.0/0.0
1.0/-0.5
6/6
Brakes: 21/21
Diffs: 30-15-25
Gears: Auto 21 + 3.400
DF: 1.00/1.01
ASM: 0
TC: 1

Still struggling to get this **** down. My best LT is a 1.03.1xx (have two of those, but times are getting more consistent)

Anyway - Have a feeling there won't be much diff between the fastest and the slowest in W34...

Edit: Turned off TCS btw. Seems to give the car a little more "go" :odd:

Man, those are annoying (but a very intriguing concept). It's like there's too much power in the rear wheels - it's making me spin out and lose my nerve (I'll tweak it a bit and post my response...)

I think that I'm almost done for this week. I might get another hour or two tomorrow but it's not likely. :(

After looking at DSMAZDA's times I'm pretty happy with my time. 👍 I did try DS's transmission settings, but they are really weird. Is it really 3.600? or did you typo and and it should be 2.600? I tried the 3.600 and it really bogged down at high speeds (When I could get there ;) ).

This looks like my time submittal for this week.
L1-T1: 27.359 👍
L1-T2: 44.521 👍
L2-T1: 20.446 👍
L2-T2: 37.464 👍
L2: 1'02.756
👍

 My Fastest lap was just 2/10ths slower than DS's. :D

I have a feeling that I need to get a sharkport soon. ;)

Lap 1:
T1: 0'28.471
T2: 0'45.704
Lap 2: 1'03.695
T1: 0'21.066
T2: 0'38.156

Here's my fastest to date. I fixed up DSMAZ's settings a little bit, and will probably wind up posting tomorrow. The fastest lap I ran in free run was a 1'02.998, but it wasn't exactly clean...

i dont think i will be running another session so i will end up posting my times today sometime

Well, You are right.. It is a typo... But I didn't type 3.600. I typed 3.400 on the post.. But after checking it again, it actually was 3.300 final. Nice time. Esp considering that my previous times were in the 1'02.863, and I had to push really really hard to break through that.

Well, I must say that I have always liked a little bit of tail steer in my cars. Helps when you can get it to pull the arse round on entry to the turn, and get on the throttle as early as possible I believe. But it's a catch 22 cause you can't just flatten it, but you need to feed it in. Esp on the exit of that hairpin, and midwaythrough the long sweeping right hander. The trick is to brake as hard as possible, and turn into the corner, getting off the brakes, and trying to hold it steady with a little oppy lock, and good throttle control. Sometimes you stuff it up, other times it's just perfect. But when it's right, it's all good. My largest issue has been too much drift into the sweeping right, and the final double left. And of course, drift = speed loss... But If you can get the grip levels just right with the throttle, then you can make up a decent amount of time. Just takes some practice.

If you are having trouble, perhaps try upping the rear downforce a little, and adding in some negative rear toe. I did try this at one stage, but for me, the car became too understeery, and I was loosing too much speed through the high speed corners for my liking.

Well, I'm usually to busy chasing you, Dodge the Viper and SandStorm around the forums to keep up with my own threads.
I'm actually quite flattered... :embarrassed:

1. There is no "S" in the name (don't worry, all the newer people do it...)
2. Yeah, I have been told that I drive "too hard" for my own good (not good for setups with alot of oversteering problems). Here's what I've done to stabilize the car slightly (still needs to be fed, but is a little more managable IMO):
  • Rear stabilizer to 5 imstead of 6
  • Limited slip to 30-18-22
  • TCS to 2
The car is pretty stable right now; maybe in the future I will be able to appreciate the lack of grip you have in the rear end...

I'm done. :) I tried again this morning in vain to go faster, but couldn't managed. :( I am happy that I was able to come within a 1/10 of my bext time on a number of occasions, but couldn't break it. :irked:

Anyways, Time in shortly and off to work. :D This was fun! can we do another similar race again soon?

was that with a fast first lap as well?
Was your overall time improved?
