Yes, but I love the red dot there so I just updated the font on that icon.

I must also agree with a lot of the negative comments on the now-old "red dot" logo. The text looked fat, slow, staunch, and heavy - the exact opposite of this website (hopefully!). With that said, I have decided to return back to the original planet with slightly brighter and bolder text. I think the fact that it looks as brilliant as ever with this new style is a good indication of the logo's strength and aesthetics, and I'm sure that many of you will certainly agree. :)

(Click refresh if you still see the old "red dot" logo.)

The old logo is back 👍

Thank you Jordan, you made the right decision.

Spot on for the logo! Thank you Jordan, now everything is perfect!

EDIT - Just noticed this: where has that neat feature "insert hyperlink" gone to?

Wow I like the new look, is gtp lite changed as well?

Edit: WHOA the post totally appeared by itself!

That's pretty damn cool.

The new (now old) logo wasn't bad at all, but i agree that the old (now new) one seems more 'GTPlanety' with the globe thingy in it.

Thinking a little more,

My perfect GTPlanet logo would be keeping the globe/dot graphic and slightly updating the text/colouring - keeping it racey with energy but perhaps cleaner and more modern if possible. Then, if it doesn't look obviously better - just leave the old one. In a phase of the site update I actually did see the old logo worked into the new site and I thought it looked perfect... hence my reaction when the red dot logo appeared.

For some reason I can't see what Jordan's done with the 'old' logo yet (I refreshed many times - I still get the red dot logo - (are you just working on updating the old logo Jordan?)), but I am very chuffed that (most) people seemed to agree with me, the GTPlanet 'globe' really is an important part of the community IMO. Its not something that can just be thrown away like some old socks!

Anyway, I am absolutely wowed that I could have any kind of influence (with others) on such a big aspect of GTPlanet... so thank you very much for listening to me Jordan - regardless of how the logo eventually evolves.

EDIT: I can see it now! Thanks TheWizard (I had to empty my cache)!

The "new" old logo should appear at the top left of the page. As soon as I hit Refresh, it worked for me.

The only thing I could think of is: try clearing your cookies and/or deleting your temporary Internet files.

By the way, thank you for what you wrote about the old logo, it brought it back 👍

The regular logo gives GTP more identity, but I never really liked its favicom version. The logo is too detailed for an image this small, it actually took me a long time to realise what it was. I do agree that this was the right decision, though.

I have one minor concern.

With the old version, when I clicked on New Posts, there used to be 4 pages of posts, regardless of how many of them were actually new. Now I only get enough pages to cover only the new ones, therefore hiding the old ones from view.

How do I get it to display the new/old posts like it used to? Or is it something that cannot be changed?

I tried changing, in the Edit Options, the Default Thread Age Cut Off to a higher value than the default, but it did not make any difference.

Just wondering...

It shows 4 pages when there's more than 4 pages of new posts (100 threads). If it has less than 100 new posts since the last time you visited GTP it won't show 4 pages. Here it was always like this.

I could have sworn that it always showed 4 pages = 100 threads.

Maybe I was smoking crack...

Or, most likely, I was just visiting with a long enough time interval between consecutive visits that I would always find that many.

Oh well... My mistake.

Actually, it was same way with me as well. Last night, I got only one page of "new posts", but I thought it was some sort of a glitch. I've always gotten 4 full pages of new posts.

I was going to try something similar but I couldn’t find an awesome enough font on my system and I couldn’t be bothered searching through dafont.com!

Though, yours actually looks fairly decent James!

James2097, I REALLY like what you've suggesting for a new logo! If the same thing could be done to "sharpen" the look of the globe to match the text, I think you may have something...

I'm still mad at you for killing the Red Dot logo though.

I had a fiddle, couldn't help myself.
Damn you! Now I have to do the same… :P

I’ll stop now.
