Were people complaining about the difficulty of the Seasonal Events?

I actually liked the easy money and experience. it felt as if the game was finally giving me a break from all the grinding. I'm sorry for you guys who love an Über-difficult game, but for once us average players caught a break, and I couldn't be happier about it.

I don't mind the easy races, I just find it odd.

Ironically, the Prius race should be the hardest because coupled with the track and no gears, you need to know what speed to enter the corner with, not the gear. I almost lost that race.

I'm thankful I didn't sell my Prius. I tend to sell off cars if I don't think I will ever use them.

PD can't win can they...

People complain about lack of money... PD introduce new events with high payout

People complain new events are too hard... PD reduce difficulty of new events

People complain new events are too easy

Yep, lil' whiney bit***s.

Edit: I WILL FOLLOW THE AUP UNDER ALL CIRCUMSTANCES. I AM AN IDIOT. I MUST SPELL CORRECT ALL THE TIME. WORSHIP THE AUP.

Yeah, I guess... It was kinda ridiculous - I sat down and Gold-ed all but the Prius race, which I Silver-ed.

The Prius race was the hardest of the 5 I think, because once you maxed out the Prius, it STILL wasn't really any faster than anyone else.

Must be something wrong...I was in 1st after 3rd lap with minor mods and sports soft tires...
could it be level-dependent? (I'm at 24)

Its not that hard, just compared to the others, it is somewhat more difficult due to the lack of a transmission adjustment and no gears.

It is about driving for me not winning.

Start with a standard car:

1) Too fast, get worse tires on it or take a lower car.
2) Too slow, tune it till it is interesting
If you can not make it, go out to find info how others did it, use the Practice to improve yourself. Finally see you can improve, or that this level is too much for you at this moment.

I completely agree with this. I was excited to see they removed all the restrictions except for car type. I wish A Spec had more car restricted events or Branded events, hopefully season ones will. BUT the point of this game is for people to enjoy it at all levels, most people out there are average drivers in the game and just like to play for fun, fun of driving different cars on different tracks, but I want to be able to win. Let me use my 892 HP Nascar with Racing Soft tires and I can, if its too easy for you, then don't adjust it, or try Sports Hard tires on a nascar for a challange... Why should you care if a worse driver can also gold the event, its not like you are competing for real life prizes against them. They made this game so all levels could play it and win on it, who cares how they do it, point of games is to relax and have fun, especially for those of us with stressful jobs and families, we don't want Nascar at the Ring to add to our stress, hahaha.

Some might consider me a cheat but I maxed out the Prius and finished like 40 seconds ahead. Same goes for all the other races.

The Audi TTS was even boring, I hate the circuit and had to do 3 laps in 1st place. Finished like a minute ahead.

If they make me buy a new car then I´ll just max it and crush the AI.

But did you enjoy the races or were you just doing them for XP and credits? okay let me re-phrase, do you enjoy the races except for the Prius one? LOL Why in the world would anyone enjoy racing a Prius? But if you max out your car and crush the comp. but enjoy doing it, then whats wrong with that? If you like it to be a close race, don't upgrade the TTS at all and put some comfort tires on it.

Gold on second try, no frustration at all, must be you and not the game as i am not the greatest driver

and you know what i hated even more than that race? all the people in every thread who thought to pop up and give their 2 cents about how easy it was and they couldn't understand why anybody would have a problem.

I actually laughed so hard when I was doing almost 190Km/h in the Prius, it sounded like it was going to explode :dopey:

yeah I think anyone saying that is either lying or spends WAY too much time playing the game. I am a decent driver and couldn't get better than 9th on that race. Anyone who "easily" got Gold might want to look into professional driving... In real life I am a pretty damn good driver and have tracked my C63 a few times with very good results, I know how to drive, but Nascar on the Ring is just stupid.

Wow there are like 5 of these threads going at once. To me, the past seasonal events were a cool concept but a pain in the *** to the point where I didn't really enjoy any of them. To place first I had to use skid control which really killed the game to me more than no restrictions. I consider myself a pretty decent player and run a G27.

You really have to make these games for the average gamer and to an extent they've done that (unlimited mods make your own difficulty), but I don't think most folks have the patience to sit there with a controller for hours trying to beat one seasonal event (nevermind the rediculous endurance). Prizes and experience were awesome though.

I think the reason is because people assume that everyone should know the 'Ring like the back of their hand and thus the challenge would be "easier" (not easy, as the 'Ring is never easy). The challenges reminded me of the 1 lap and 3 lap magic races of GT4, which, although none were that easy most were doable with effort (exception being 26 and 34 being very difficult and the latter was on the 'Ring, go figure). With the HP and weight restriction, it made setup all the more pivotal to win the race and it actually meant for some people to look into what a fully customized transmission can do for your car, or what a flywheel can improve. It made the game more of a strategy than a flat out max HP race where the skill level to complete it is lower.

You see I just totally disagree with this. Why does a game have to be made so everyone is a winner? If the game is that difficult then there is no shame in not coming first. Be proud you managed to get 2nd or 3rd place on that insanely difficult challenge. Playing any game, sport, etc is about your skill and ability to play that game well. I'd love to be able to play guitar but I can't, I've tried and I'm crap. I don't expect someone to come along and make playing the guitar easier just so I can play play just like Hendrix ;)

Also remember these are not online races, these are meant for the offline single player game, so they should remove the restrictions just like A Spec, if they were online setups, then I would totally understand having them, or even B Spec because B Spec focuses more on proper setups than flat out power (since your driver is a moron). Having said that, how about adding the same races for B Spec with restrictions, come on PD, we know you read these threads!

wait, you are comparing a video game to a real life thing... We aren't comparing real race car driving here, its a video game, ever hear of guitar hero? LOL

Games are meant to be fun for everyone, most games have difficulty sliders for a reason, so just view the no restrictions as that, choose your own difficulty.

Perfect Example is the original "Crysis" for the PC, I bought it to see what my gpu could handle and it was amazing, but I SUCK at FPS games, so I played on an easier level (second from bottom I think), I beat the game without too much trouble and loved playing it, if I had it set to the hardest I would have hated it. But people who are really good at FPS would set it to that and enjoy it. Because I suck at FPS but still like to play them, why shouldn't I be able to enjoy it?

To compare it to real life, how about golf? the clubs are just insane now and really help average players appear better and even bad golfers look okay, and because of that they enjoy the game more. Now I am a good golfer, so should I complain that they have aids like that to help them?

Don't see why there is complaining, regardless if you finish first or not, you still make a good sum of cash.

How is playing with a musical instrument any different to playing a video game? Both are done for pleasure ;)

A perfect analogy I think.

Just because very little people can FC through the fire and flames on expert, doesn't mean they should dumb it down and let you decide when the the streak breaks. Difficulty should be universal so you know how good exactly you are doing, and know what is humanly possible - I think that's a great factor which pushes people to improve, knowing there are people out there who can do it in the same circumstances, you will push that little harder rather than just drop it and say "it's impossible".

I like guitar hero just as much as I like driving games, probably because both demand actual skill. (I am nowhere good in guitar hero though, doesn't stop me enjoying the game.)

Nascar is so easy in this game it isn't even funny. I am from Nascar 09 on PS3 where the cars will slide out if you hit the accelerater over 50%. I was ranked #3 Overall on that game. It makes this nascar feel like NFS.

Go online, put only sports tyrs on your cars (the nascars) and race online.
It suddenly is like the ARCA sim, cars spin out, bumpdrafting becomes dangerous and exciting now, like it should,etc...

Just test around. Alot of cars, maybe even all are unrealistic and "too easy" with race tyres. That's how it's always has been with GT's in the past. They offer the easy sticky's for noobs and starters.

Do we have to repeat these sentences every week?
So many new guys do'nt know this it seems.

Maybe we need a guide that stickies that on top with the differences etc..

Try it!

because if you are going to compare a video game to something compare it to another video game.

If you are good at guitar hero you might not be good in real life on a guitar, same goes with Tiger woods or shooting games, same goes with racing games! its a game, can't compare it to doing something not on a TV screen!

But if you want to compare yourself to others than use the Time Trials...

There're too many variables in time trials, even with the same hp/weight you have all sorts of cars with different tire width, track width and downforce. And I don't think one lap pace is the ultimate representation of racing skill, the ability to adapt to traffic, pick your spot and rake in quick laps one after another is a much more important asset imo.

I still think being to gold the focus and RX7 challenge without aids was the greatest thing I've done in this game, even beyond golding the Vettel challenges.

i don't know you, but i hate you. seriously. see above posts.
Oh well. What can I say. I like the Nurburgring and I like FR cars so this was the perfect challenge for me. I jumped right in and won it easily on the first try.

The GTR in the 1st bonus race was much much harder imo. Also the RX7 On Tsukuba and the Focus events were much harder.

It's odd though that they unrestriced the nascar bonus race now as well

i just took my 900hp ford and it let me enter.

Figures...another 1/2 million in wasted credits. However, this is the first time it was because I changed my oil :dopey:

Agreed 100%. Yeah instrument is a bad example considering I can rip a solo on a real guitar and suck entirely at guitar hero. In the same sense I have autocrossed my real car and post mediocre times which would probably be 99% inaccurate from what I am capable of on GT5. I bet the same is true for all of these guys posting rediculous times on the GT challenge. Top gear did a segment on GT4 back in the day where Jeremy raced the laguna seca in an nsx... In the same car and same track (but in reality) he was something like 20 seconds off his original video game times. Granted it's a different physics engine but I think you would find similar results with GT5.

At the end of the day the difference for me is when I play a video game I don't necessarily enjoy or accept sucking as much as I do in reality. Where as I willingly sucked at guitar for years to get where I am not I am not willing to do it on guitar here... Where as I STILL suck at driving my actual car, I don't so much enjoy sucking at it behind a TV screen (nevermind sitting behind a GD screen doing a rediculous 24hr race just to get 100% completion). Really the point I am trying to make is that I also enjoy difficulty levels tailored to my experience you mentioned.

I could go on all day.

Subject over debated for something that's going to disappear on the 12th and 19th. =P

All the events were easy to Wheel users, DS3 users had issues. So the wheel users got it first, DS3 users got it last. A lot of people on these forums been playing these games forever, can't expect the rest of the world to have wheel and be good at the game. So it changed half way threw so maybe some DS3 users other then people that are good at the game have a chance to win. Nothing much to debate. To many people putting there opinions above reason. Thread should be closed.
