Were people complaining about the difficulty of the Seasonal Events?

wait, you are comparing a video game to a real life thing... We aren't comparing real race car driving here, its a video game, ever hear of guitar hero? LOL

Games are meant to be fun for everyone, most games have difficulty sliders for a reason, so just view the no restrictions as that, choose your own difficulty.

Yes I agree 100%! It's a video game. If you want realistic go buy a real racing car and then you can complain about all the regulations and rules they have.

I never thought I'd see the day where I load up a Prius with a 'Racing Exhaust'. Shame it can't take a turbo.

I agree 100%

too bad you can't put in bigger batteries :)

Edit: you know what else is odd. In the elise race, even though it's unrestricted, i can't enter my rm model.

Subject over debated for something that's going to disappear on the 12th and 19th. =P

All the events were easy to Wheel users, DS3 users had issues. So the wheel users got it first, DS3 users got it last. A lot of people on these forums been playing these games forever, can't expect the rest of the world to have wheel and be good at the game. So it changed half way threw so maybe some DS3 users other then people that are good at the game have a chance to win. Nothing much to debate. To many people putting there opinions above reason. Thread should be closed.

I am using a DS3 in the 1st set I got all golds except in the skyline I got a silver. In the second set All golds except for the RX-7 and NASCAR. I consider my self a TERRIBLE driver. Those events just took practice. learn the car and the course and you would get it. They were a challange and they were fun. Now they just seem like a chore to get the exp and credits. I finished them all with gold in a few hours. Wheres the fun in that?

Gold on second try, no frustration at all, must be you and not the game as i am not the greatest driver

Yeah well I'm not that great either but.

I've gold-ed all the top gear test track challenges... the first time I completed them. (except the last one, that was on the second try. And by first time completed, I mean I got DQ'd like five or so times on the first two...) And supposedly, these were really difficult.

Even got gold on all the Nascar challenges.

But the Nascar seasonal challenge at Nurburgring... damn. I only ever saw the guy in 11th one time after about two hours of trying. I never once passed him or even came close to him. Even with all the most helpful aids on (which I almost never use) I couldn't get close. I couldn't even keep up, no matter how fast I went, my time behind the leader just kept getting longer. Nothing I tried worked.

There was no fun to be had, at first I was like "Sweet, a real challenge." Then I realized it was impossible for me so I gave up in frustration.

you think you aren't that good, but golded all the top gear events? I struggled to get bronze in them all, and they were boring as hell. My biggest complaint is being disqualified for hitting other cars, I can deal with going out of bounds, but for hitting other cars? especially when the AI is so bad and pretends like you aren't even there... I could have easily golded them if not for trying not to hit them the whole race (except the bus race, that was just stupid).

My point being is apparently I'm not a terrible driver, I can do plenty of things just fine. I just don't see myself as really good or anything. And even with all that, I can't get close to the guys on the Nascar Nurburgring seasonal challenge.

I guess I'm just trying to say that I don't suck horribly and I think that event was way to hard. Nothing else I've tried in the game has left me so far behind... Yet another reason I tend to despise Nascar. If it had been FGT cars instead, I'd probably hate those instead. :P

On a side note, the top gear challenges are about being very precise and going as quick as you can the whole time. The bus and kubelwagen challenges are easy because you really don't have to worry about the car outperforming the tires and corners. The Elise challenge was quite difficult and whenever I manage to get my replay in youtube form, y'all guys can see how I managed to win in the dumbest way possible. lol

If you don't like it, don't play it. I didn't like most of the seasonals so far so I didn't play them. I beleive if I had a wheel I would play them since it's much more precise, and the older seasonal events required some amount of precision which I can't get iwth my six axis.

I just noticed six axis is a palendrom.

PD can't win can they...

People complain about lack of money... PD introduce new events with high payout

People complain new events are too hard... PD reduce difficulty of new events

People complain new events are too easy

Yep. Personally I found Races #1 just right in terms of difficultly. Races #2 were too hard, I needed SRF and still can't win some of them (RX-7 & Focus). I've yet to touch Races #3 but everyone is reporting they are easy since the limits have been removed. To me that's GREAT, this way I can modify the cars as needed for MY skill level. I prefer this system.

I had no intention of doing the second set of Seasonal Races until I found the restrictions had been lifted, so I was pleased to earn some more money and Exp in game. I never fully upgraded any car for them though, even the new set. The most I think I used for any was much better tyres, ECU, Racing Intake and Sports Cat. Some I could manage with just decent tyres. The Elise race had its moments as with the tyres the car occasionally went up on two wheels when cornering and I wondered if it was going to flip.

They are really picky about the names, right?

I dont think the new form of seasonal events are a problem at all. Why shouldnt players that cant seem to meet the rigorous tuning/driving demands of some of the other seasonals have a chance to get the "free" XP & Cr from the seasonals? Thats why PD put them there in the first place. I think the last thing this community needs is 90% of the people getting frustrated with the system and totally giving up on the game altogether. I like coming on this board and seeing a new page of posts every half a day. it would suck to see 2 new posts a day from the "hardcore" GT fans.

I use a DS3 and was able to Gold all of the first two seasonal events. Some were frustrating but I did get a great sense of accomplishment from them. You can make the current seasonal events just as challenging if you wish. Took me about 4 complete tries this morning to beat the Prius challenge with a totally stock car. Was it hard to resist the urge to max out the hp and drop several hundred lbs from that pig? You bet it was! But I knew that I could beat it with a stock car on stock tires so I kept trying. Got within 2.8 seconds of the Lotus in the Audi challenge as well. Should be able to finish that tonight.

Point is, you can make them as hard or easy as you want at this point, why care how anyone else wins? I just want as many people as possible to play the game and enjoy it.

I know im in the complaining page but im complaining on the stupidity of the 2nd race i came second and first place was 30 seconds in the lead how does that happen, i prefer it this way over the older seasonal events. It's way more fun than grinding the same race over and over again and plus you get to race cars that would probably just sit in your garage gathering dust. Thanks pd for taking the boring out of levelling up, but whats with the glitch in race 2

It seems as if in these new seasonal events you're really only trying to catch that 1st car. In the Audi race I was in 2nd by Lap 2, but it took me the rest to catch up to the Lotus. It seemed as if in that Prius race the Honda CR-Z was way out front as well.

Heh, not to terrible if you golded/silvered most of them. That's the issue tho, its about everyone. You did it and you didn't think it was hard, gratz. But what about the ton of people out there that where having issues. I'm a DS3 user also and I'll admit if it wasn't for the fact that I knew the game, those challenges would be very difficult. I don't see why this such a big deal... Why people are so up in arms about it being changed.

Players new to the game would have either, A: never finished those or, B: lost interest in those events long before they played enough to do them. So they go back to there Flashy God of War button mashing fest and tell there friends that they didn't like it. Thus lowering the chance of there being updates and sequels.

Changes are fine =) Doesn't bother me I did most of them before, if you didn't do them before bummer. No use complaining. Wait for the next seasonal events to pop-up and try again. Even if I didnt do them it wouldnt bother me, after all it is just a game. =)

Started up GT5 today with the intent to do my first Indy500 and noticed the new seasonal events. Actually until I came here I thought the new setup was a bug not a feature and felt myself lucky to get the money and xp for little effort. But honestly I am quite disappointed with the new batch. I loved the first and second ones as they realy gave me a challenge - this time around I was able to gold the damn events in one try each (and I am using the standard PS3 pad, no wheel no nothing and I realy dont consider myself as beeing a good driver in this game). I even lapped some of the competition in 2 events and if I hadnt spun off in the Ford GT one I would have caught up to the leading car in every race by half time. It took me another half lap in the Ford to do that, so I had 2 1/2 boring laps to finish, leading the field by I dont know how many seconds each time. And thats while actually driving quite badly on some of the tracks, with plenty of room for better lap times.

Haven't seen these new events yet but I'll stick to my way. First of all I try stock, no aids bar ABS 1. Then I'll tune, then out comes the tcs. Gold in 'most' of the seasonals by this time, but I then used 'the force' to nail gold on nascar, rx-7, focus and the skyline challenges. Hardest one for me was the focus challenge, gave up real quick with Nascar tho and used 'the force' pronto instead of putting the time in.
My philosophy, is that there is no shame in using the aids, most 'real-life' cars come with, or can be equipped with, all but 'the force'. If you want the gold and need the Cr + XP, you have the options to help attain it.
Looking forward to a healthy XP boost again. Grinding makes me sad...

NASCAR event really is not hard if you know your way around the nurburgring. If you dont well you arn't going to do very well.

Woah. That's arguably the coolest thing ever!

Oh and I hate to seem like a troll but it's palindrome.:)
