What are Gr. X cars used for?

Hey guys, so I've gotten a couple of Group X cars in my first few hours on the game and it made me wonder, what use are these cars in the game? Are there any daily races that involve them, and if not then why should I care about them? I understand that they are appealing aesthetically and whatnot, but if I can't race them then I don't really care about that. The only time I can remember enjoying such cars in GT was the X2010 challenge event in GT5.

I’ve not seen anything outside of lobby races. The group x are a hodgepodge of crap. So you won’t get a legit class from it, rather, it would have to be spec racing like “everyone use the shifter kart” or “safety vehicles only”. It’s just more useless bloat that PD put in because the bean counters started coming down on them about when the investors could expect a return on their 10yrs (or more!) of investment.

PD probably buckled down when that initial release date got pushed back and Kaz just said “screw it, add some junk and ship it out. I’ll start planning the next GT...)

Yeah so I'm wondering what they are used for given that you can't race them against anything AFAIK.

That's the point, you really can't race them against anything within an FIA class. It would be up to individual players to BoP them properly for online play.

You can in lobbies, arcade, and certain campaign missions. It’s just Sport mode that you can’t.

I don't know, but if a race allows the GR.X Tomahawk, then nothing else would compete with it. That thing is absolutely bonkers. Anyone who has that car, do a time trial with it anywhere. It's insane.

You can race them in the open lobby rooms. Otherwise they are not really called on for anything but they are entertaining to drive They aren't (yet) part of the daily races or any other series.

I might be able to beat the Tomahawk X, but only if the driver has no idea what they are doing...

You mean, so the manufacturers can pat them on the back?

They've been used for a couple of one make races in sport mode, that's about all they could be used for.

Monotype racing serie. The RS 01 is handle very well. NSX is very technical , Honda project too.... I did not test the rest but there is some very good cars in this Group.

One more GR.X perfectly tuned by the master tuner from PD. Mini Clubman VGT , a great job , perfectly balanced 4WD car . Just take out the traction control and go on track . In my opinion some cars in GTS have been setted by the same man. Perfect job.

I'd imagine they have some contractual obligations in play with some of those cars.
