Hamburg steak and homemade mac & cheese with baby carrots.

Drinking this...

cherry7updiet.jpg

I wasn't at all happy that the regular Diet Cherry 7-Up is no longer available. This is our family's 'go to' drink, along with Diet A&W Root Beer, for sugar free flavored beverages. (We also drink "To Go Packs'" mixed in bottled water) 'Go to'; "To Go" Get it?

Stuck, I bought it anyway and just tried it. NOT BAD! 👍

It has a lighter, crisper taste with better tasting cherry flavor. The extra Vitamin E is not a big deal to me. I guess this product is a knee-jerk response to consumers wanting 'Vitamin Water' products, which the concept eludes me. You get more than enough vitamins with food and if you need more of a certain vitamin, there are supplements.

But, IT TASTES GOOD! So, who cares?

I have to say, there were a slew of tasty looking items on that site.

One I used to cook (before I decided I'd abused my body long enough) was 75% ground burger mashed into a patty, grilled over an open flame. I would put a healthy dollup of bacon Grease on top of it to really saturate the meat as I cooked it.

Nowadays, I'm more in the veggies and chicken routine.

Homemade burritos. Appetizers where crackers with homemade jalapeño & cheddar cheese spread.

Recipe time...

Jalapeño & Cheddar Cheese Spread

8 oz. Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese (the sharper, the better)
1.5 Tbls. Butter
1-2 oz. White Wine
2-3 Roasted and Skinned Jalapeño Chilies
Salt to taste

Preparing

Cut the cheese (he-he-he) into one inch sized cubes. Place in food processor. Add butter and 1 oz wine.

Prepare the jalapeño chiles by boiling them in water for 1 minute. Drain and chill with cold water. Once chilled and dry, roast them over open flame until the skin is lightly charred. Immediately place them on a plate with tightly wrapped plastic wrap or plastic bag. (The chiles need to 'sweat' for easy skin removal) After about 20 minutes, use a sharp knife to 'shave' the charred skin off. Cut chiles in half, removing only the seeds and inner large, bitter white membrane at the top. (Note: Do not remove all the white membrane if you want 'hot' cheese spread. Only the thick, white membrane at the top.) Dice chiles and add to food processor.

Pulse processor about 6-10 times, and scrape down bowl. Then, run for about two minutes or until the spread becomes smooth. Sample and add salt to taste. If mixture is too thick and chalky, add more liquid (wine or half and half). Adding half and half will make the the spread more 'creamy' so be cautious. Good alternative is vegetable oil, but could make the spread 'oily.' Too much wine will overpower the subtle cheddar cheese flavor, so use sparingly.

You can also add any other ingredients you like. Chopper herbs, black pepper, garlic glove, prepared mustard, paprika, etc.

Pour into plastic storage bowls with a lid, seal tightly and place in fridge for several hours before serving. Makes about 10-12 ounces.

Why do you always have to do that on a Friday night when I'm hungry, my wife is at work and my kids are sleeping so I can't go shopping to make *insert Solid's famous random recipe here*? :grumpy:

You need to start posting that stuff on Thursday so I have time to prepare!

Ha-ha!

I try to post before Saturdays, because that's when most people go shopping.

We go Tuesdays and Saturdays, but if not Saturday then Sunday morning. We try to go only once a week, but we tend to need stuff sometime during the week after our shopping trip.

So, Thursday is 'recipe day' from now on! :P

Is ground beef still good after 2+ years?

Oh, and damn you again!

*stomach rumbles*

My kids are big into bread and meatballs, so that just might have to go into the rotation! 👍

I'm currently in the process of consuming a fair portion of a loaf of homemade garlic bread.

Jury's still out on whether that's a good idea or not...

I had some bbq ribs with cornbread... my god that is such a perfect combo... Also had a huge glass of milk to wash it down. Now I feel like need some water so I guess thats the next think I'm going to have.

Snacking on chicken nuggets with friends, until the Tombstone in the oven is finished.

Lyonnaise potatoes go best with ribs with a side of coleslaw. I like cornbread with chili best, but there's a lot of times I'll eat it with whatever.

I asked what to have for dinner tonight and the boys screamed out for pizza. Nobody objected, so we had my favorite; Round Table King Arthur's Supreme.

I just ate some Manwich for lunch and drank some bottled water to go with it.

oh, and I had Cinnamon Toast Crunch this morning for breakfast, so......

Just had some yogurt. I'm not on a fast or anything like that, though. (Like I'm skinny enough anyway...)

So...... what?

Sew buttons!

Had fillet mignon with Lyonnaise potatoes and bacon fat pan fried green beans for dinner yesterday.

Today, we are having Salisbury steak with whipped potatoes and broccoli with cheese sauce which is about to be served!

Drinking Deerfield Trading Company soda.

can't find anything decent on it.

They sell it at walgreen's. The flavors they have are:

  • Root Beer
  • Diet Root Beer
  • Vanilla Cream Soda
  • Orange Cream Soda
  • Strawberry Cream Soda
  • Black Cherry Soda

and one more I can't quite exactly remember right now.

Also tonight, I'm going to be having a rice dish, but it's not your ordinary rice dish. Here's the background on that:

I started out eating Ground Beef & Rice with tomatoes and onions, but switched to eating Chicken & Rice. (mainly because I hate tomatoes :yuck:) eventually I started eating the C & R with Hot Sauce. but one day, the person who went shopping for me brought Taptio (I'm probably not spelling this right) Hot Sauce, and I didn't like it, I thought it was way too hot. So, one day, I hit my breaking point with it and tried to find an emulsifier to help quell the hotness caused by the Hot Sauce. Well, to make a long story short, I decided to try Ranch Dressing and Sour Cream. I tried it, and quite frankly, it was the best tasting ANYTHING I have ever had (but it may be disgusting to some people:indiff:👎:yuck:) so, I'd had it like that ever since, even when the provider stopped buying the Taptio.
I since tried it with beans, steak, pork, shrimp, and even just the rice by itself (which I have been doing lately and will do so tonight), and it's good every single time!:)

It spelled Tapatio. That is currently my hot sauce of choice. I go through that stuff like water. As for you thinking it's too hot, give it time. Eventually you'll be able to take more and more. 👍

I used to love that hot sauce, because of the heat. However, once the heat was getting a bit weak for me, the actual flavor of it became a big turn off.

I'm having some...
