I just fried up some yak meat for a sandwich and, my God, is it delicious with a little salt, pepper and chilli.

I bought a pack of ten slices yesterday and had half then, half now, but I'm wishing I'd bought two packs.

Boys wanted nachos for dinner. Hot bean dip, jalapeno cheddar sauce and guacamole with tortilla chips. They had water polo practice so they burned it all off. I, on the other hand... Have a bad headache and I'm 'shootin' like a Howitzer!'

Dinner Tonight: Cheese burger and Tater Tots

Where be the veggies?

And is that just mayonnaise on the plate... for the tater tots? :nervous:

Made a tuna melt with a mix of peppers, green onions, salsa, topped with fresh tomatoes and toasted in the oven a bit. All on a sesame seed bagel. Had a side of fresh, raw tomatoes as well while making it all. Drinking some red tea with soy milk.

Mystery meat. 40p meatballs in tomato sauce.

It's actually really nice, but I'm not a food enthusiast.

I know it is unhealthy but I really fancy that burger.

I am quite hungry now yet can't get anything without waking my parents up.

Next year at university I will be free to eat. :) Huge bowl of rice, curry sauce. Perfect snack.

Same difference. I understand ketchup and mustard, and fry sauce, but just mayo or mayo equiv is... I dunno.

As for tomatoes being fruit, that may be the case but they are delicious on a burger.

Well, I'm Dutch. Therefore, I'm used to eating them that way.

Actually, factory farm produced meat is unhealthy. But regular farms that feed their cows grass is healthier.

I'm not sure what you are actually trying to say here, either because of the wording or because of the confusing use of the word regular and farm.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. But I was implying that certain farmers don't follow current food trends like the factory farms do.

Yeh just ignore the fat you can see leaking out of it.

There are both healthy and unhealthy saturated fats. Beef mostly contains the former, and can lower bad cholesterol while boosting good cholesterol (unless you pour a load of cooking oil over it). It also contains vital nutrients, such as iron and zinc.

The beef to avoid is the corn-fed, fat-filled, barn-raised, artificial hormone-pumped stuff. Luckily, in the U.K, most of our beef is grass-fed (and straw-fed over the winter), free to roam and graze out in the fields, and contains less artificial hormones, along with a life with much less stress than that of intensively farmed cows.

The things to avoid are heavily processed foods.

Out of interest haitch40, is the rice you mentioned white rice? If so it is more harmful to you than a fatty beef burger.

Yep. That's why we don't eat Nasi all that often anymore. White rice is just pure carbs and calories. Just think, it's healthier to eat a 12 oz steak over several cups of white rice.

Eveybody thinks sushi is good for you. Nope. It's the rice that screws it up for you. Just eat the sashimi and eat some seaweed vegetable salad.

BTW, as much saturated fat as some of you think I eat, my total cholesterol level this past week when I went to the doctor was 87. LDLs were low, HDL were OK and Tri's were extremely low.

Meh, I eat a lot of white rice. My people have eaten that in the past few thousand years when they aren't dying of starvation, and we're all still around.

Chinese diet is not as bad as in other countries. Especially the USA. Plus, they don't eat as much as we do, also. When you tell people watching their caloric intake, they're shocked when they're told a 12 oz steak is better for them than a few cups of white rice. It's not for everybody, though. Steak has a lot fat and cholesterol.

Works for me on my low carb lifestyle. My family love sushi - so do I - so when we go I tend to eat the soft shell crab, some tempura, beef chili ramen (without noodles), sashimi, etc and avoid the heavy rice and noodles. My only concession is the odd Sapporo but hey, translucent liquid carbs don't count, right? ;)

Like vodka? :dopey:

Spirits are good (high alcohol/low sugars), beer is bad (lower alcohol/more sugars). However, I counteract the effect of beer by eating very few starchy carbs. Works a treat pour moi! :D

And I counteract the goodness of the Vodka with pork scratching's.

Love them.
