I saw somewhere, probably in this thread, not long ago someone had sloppy joes. I hadn't had it since I was a kid so I thought I would make some.

Do any of you guys eat this? I thought this Manwich was sickeningly sweet, and syrupy sticky. YUCK!

It was so bad I had to call my mother. I asked if she fed me sloppy joes as a kid. She said she had. I told her I just made some with Manwich sauce, and it was awful. She said "On, no, I never used that, my sister's boyfriend taught me how to make them from scratch." I remember them being messy but really good.

Well at least the fries were good.
It was I. :D

And yes, they are very sickly sweet. But, I grew up on them as a kid. I have them for every Halloween. It's a tradition since I was a tiny Lifters. :)

Brought home some sandwiches from the Upland German Delicatessen for lunch.

Dinner was a Screamin' Sicilian Spicy Clucker pizza.

It was pretty amazing. Real jalapenos (not the weak pickled kind), real strips of bacon (not crumbled bacon bits like other frozen pizzas), big chunks of real chicken, loads of cheese, and ranch sauce instead of tomato sauce.

Jalapenos provided good amount of heat, but the ranch, cheese and bacon balanced it out nicely. Probably the best frozen pizza I ever had.

@Ken Koios - We've never been there but my wife decided she wanted to go to Sickies Garage for her birthday. Their slogan is "50 burgers, 50 brews". Now the brews part I couldn't care less about and no, you aren't getting my man card. The 50 burgers, however... that I can, nay, MUST do.

So I started by swinging for the fences with their Twin Cam - a bacon cheeseburger between two grilled cheese sandwiches. Oh. Dear. Lord. That is easily the most calories I've eaten in a single meal in a very, very long time. But it was damn tasty.

Also marked off the list was a bite of my son's Triple Decker Club (ham, bacon, lettuce, mayo and cheese on three slices of toast) and my other son's Glazed Donut Burger (bacon cheeseburger with a donut cut in half for the bun).

Only 47 to go...

I just got a new slow cooker. This was my first attempt at a pot roast.

I used eye of round, and cooked it with nearly a whole package of sliced baby portabella mushrooms, for 8 hours on low. There are some very tender parts, but I have had better. I wasn't really sure what cut of meat to use.

I froze a handful of the mushrooms. They are going on my next Screaming Sicilian pizza.

I was pretty shocked that Wishbone won America's Test Kitchen's review test:

I was entrenched in the Marzetti camp, which came in 2nd. Here's the full review: http://www.cookscountry.com/taste_tests/595-blue-cheese-dressing

So I went out and bought two bottles of the Wishbone, and I was SHOCKED at how good it was! It wasn't as chunky, but the flavor is outstanding. It's got a nice bite. Marzetti is nice and rich and creamy with big chunks of blue cheese, so you get this heterogeneity of mild dressing with pungent cheese. The Wishbone has much more blue cheese flavor throughout. I don't know if it's from vinegar or culture, but it really is nice. It found it worked much better than the Marzetti on salad because the salad itself provides enough textural and gustatory variety. I bit into a sweet cherry tomato covered in the Wishbone blue cheese, and, let me tell you, I was in heaven. It was like a perfect marriage of all the different flavors an individual can perceive. Outstanding.

I applaud your sensors. Lucky guy.
I hear there are people out there that can't feel anything.

Chinese Food, Pizza, and Barbequed Chicken, followed by watermelon and blueberries for dinner.
Chocolates for the chocoholics. (That's me - I'm all of them.)

After the giant fiasco last week, we finally got to have chicken and dumplings Monday night.

Then tonight my wife was busy so my daughter and I went to Longhorn, where I got the 1/2lb Steakhouse Burger cooked medium with a baked potato.

And then a trip to frozen yogurt, where I gave vanilla the respect it deserves and just added some fresh strawberries and strawberry boba.

My daughter had watermelon with graham cracker crumbs, vanilla wafers, Oreo cookies, gummy frogs, gummy worms, Apple boba, and chocolate sauce.

I had two Zinger Tacos from KFC yesterday and HOLY CRAP it tasted soo good. Pity it's only available for a limited time

Doesn't look the pack shot but it's equally tasty

I had 2 lbs of hamburger to cook so I divided into 4 meals. 1/2 lb each seasoned with Mrs Dash. Cooked medium rare in the George for 5 minutes. Also had some left over fresh mushrooms. Topped off with thin sliced tomatoes and a slice of cheese. Then threw in a few tater tots that were nuked in the microwave. Added a little "Stubbs" bbq sauce.

My grandma gave me a pretty killer life hack to clean the george really fast. As soon as your food is done cooking, removed, and it is unplugged, place a wet paper towel or wet wash cloth inside the george and close the lid while you eat. When you are finished eating, you can just wipe it clean. Worked VERY well. :)

@CAMAROBOY69 I found something you might like to add to burgers to give them a proper grilled flavor:

Gourmet Grilled Burger Seasoning

It isn't low sodium, but I plan to sprinkle it on the outside, rather than mix it into the meat.

That said, my other thought is that the main ingredient that gives that seasoning its grilled flavor is Grill Flavor Powder. The nutritional value gives it's sodium value of 409.66mg, but that is for .85 cups. That actually breaks down to about 10mg per teaspoon (and their suggested recipe uses 1.5 teaspoons for 2lbs of beef). I haven't tried this yet, so I can't recommend it based on that.

I have only tasted the burger seasoning because I got a free sample in a recent order.

@FoolKiller

I will keep that in mind.

How about the Mrs Dash hamburger seasoning? Is that something you would recommend? Or should I keep looking for something that has a "grilled" seasoning to it? Always open for suggestions.

The Mrs. Dash is good, but I'm always looking for something different. Since the salt-free market is fairly limited I am always willing to try something new. There is plenty of room for improvement and satisfying different tastes.

Plus, when you can buy ingredients in bulk there is a good chance that it will be cheaper.

I liked the Mrs Dash chicken seasoning a lot that you suggested. So tonight I will pick up some Mrs Dash hamburger seasoning. 👍
