I don't usually take the time to photograph food but I'm supremely happy with these scratch made cheese burgers.
Pork 20% fat, whole grain toasted buns and Monterey Jack cheese with a sprinkle of chilli flakes and oregano.

Every single time when I open this thread, I see your post and photo of what you ate (which is normal :P) and always think that these cheese burgers are oysters. :D
It only last for about a second before I realize that these oysters are actually cheese burgers.

A couple of days ago I read some information about olives. Tuesday I bought for the very first time green olives with herbs and garlic inside. These green things are delicious.

I had to take another look at the photo to see what you mean but I would agree, they do look like oysters.

Imagine sitting on a couch while watching a movie and munching on this huge slab of fried pork skin:

Strangely I did that last night, except the skin was fried in strips so they were more like curly balls of crispy deliciousness.
I had some last night too. They were smaller like Shem's and spicy.

Here we call them pork rinds. I have never seen them sold like that. I guess a giant one like that, we would just call a pork rind.

I've never seen a sheet of it like that ether. Here they come in small pieces that usually go in noodle dishes or are eaten as a snack while having a beer.

I can't help thinking there's some subliminal product placement going on there. :)
The guys I race with have a forum. There has been a long running conspiracy joke about the existence of CPB Bugles. I'm using the room as a backdrop, it is kind of like my can of beans.

I'm chewing on a few cashew nuts at the moment.

I mixed:

* blue berries

* strawberries

* raspberries

* sunflower seeds

* pumpking seeds

* wild raw chestnut honey

* ceylon cinnamon

* raisins

* almond milk

Going to eat that mixture right now. Tasted it and it is very sweet but ooohhhh so good and delicious. I can taste the cinnamon just a little bit. It's perfect.

I made some gumbo not long age. It was ok, but not great.

I wanted to make red beans and rice next. The only version I know really comes from Popeyes. Though I did order some with sausage years ago from The Ragin' Cajun restaurant here in houston Popeyes was better. I watched lots of YouTube videos of people making red beans and rice, and it took hours, like all day. I noticed though many YouTube videos of people using Blue Runner red beans to make red beans and rice.

I thought I would give them a try. I added half of a one pound smoked sausage which I cut up and browned in the pot, one whole jalapeno thinly sliced, a small amount of frozen diced peppers and onions, a bay leaf, and some creole seasoning. I added about a half can of water from the one 16 oz. can of beans. I let is simmer for about 20 minutes. The Jalapeno was totally mush by this point. It makes two big meals, but I think it could feed three.

This was very good, much better than Popeye's. The next time I make this I think I will add two jalapenos.
