Brinsley Schwarz on the Old Grey Whistle Test in 1973. The Band influenced sound features Nick Lowe on vocals brazenly chewing gum while singing ... and sporting a Bay City Rollers hairdo. 😎

I should add that "Whispering" Bob Harris was my entree to the alternative rock scene in the early '70's. I would listen to his late night (10-12pm) broadcast Sounds of the Seventies on my transistor radio in bed under the covers. He introduced me to up-and-coming artists like Elton John, Rod Stewart and David Bowie as well as many others who never really "came". And hardly any rock music on the radio in the UK at the time. Saving up to buy an LP took weeks of pocket money. No streaming. No youtube. No Apple music. No Spotify. You try and tell the young people of today that ... and they won't believe you!

This really is something quite unique and special IMHO...

Pauline Black and Gaps both have so much energy in the above video considering she was 64 when they shot it.

Here's another British ska survivor who's roughly the same age.

Bad Manners - Walking In The Sunshine (Electric Brixton, 17/12/22)

More ska... of the old school variety, although I think this is classed as rocksteady. In my opinion, it's a crime that this album appears to have disappeared between the folds of reggae history.

Cables - What Kind Of World

Bring Me The Horizon - Dear Diary

They have changed their style so many times over the years, but this song reminds me of the old days of BMTH and I love it.

Currently listening to Cannibal Ox - The Cold Vein. Excellent East Coast Hip Hop.

I liked that album but that was one of the few tracks I was disappointed with. No pun intended but it just didn't gel with me.

I'm going to try out Soundcloud links where possible instead of YouTube. You can actually listen to them while changing tabs on a mobile browser which is great for long tracks. Just click the "listen in browser" tab before pressing play.

Cavern Of Anti-Matter - melody in high feedback tones
