R.I.P. Trugoy the Dove aka Dave of De La Soul.
So this is how I found out. :(

Hip hop pioneers. Sometimes I didn't understand their rhymes until 20 years later, but many other times, instant awesome just rhyming about things in ways nobody else was discussing and pushing the boundaries into all sorts of obscure and nerdy stuff.

Since @TB got me doing the 1,001 Albums to Listen to Before You Die list challenge thing, my music has been all over the place. Currently, I'm listening to Tito Puente, which is perfect for a dark, dreary, rainy/snowy Wednesday.

I can't see or hear his name mentioned that I don't think about the movie, Stripes.

Anita: "You come home and you order out food and then you play those stupid Tito Puente albums until two in the morning!"

Winger: "Tito Puente is going to be dead and you're going to say, "Oh, I've been listening to him for years and I think he's fabulous."

Tonight’s music comes from the always brilliant and very talented Simon Jeffes.

If you like this then you really should treat your ears and more importantly soul to the other Simon Jeffes projects.

You had me at Penguin Café Orchestra. I've been a big fan for decades.

I love these monthly BIRP! playlists.

Some Jazz Piano by the late great Ryo Fukui.

I have all his LPs on wax and it’s such a shame he’s gone. His legacy maybe small in numbers but it’s big in heart and skill.
