I'm trying to locate a battery for the UPS at work, this is proving to be a real pain in the ass to find one that will work.

I'm trying to make a container appear to hold liquid in Photoshop... so I can use it in an ad that I'm making in Illustrator... and currently working on the 17th layer of said psd.

Of course, I could make it in 3 minutes, bus as there is little to do at work, I'm overdoing everything...

Oh, and I'm also applying HDR filters

I just received new backgrounds for the Dayton hotel so I'm cleaning them up (removing dimensions, notes, etc.) and inserting them into our drawings.

Here is what goes on behind the scenes so all of your lights, coffee maker and especially TV works properly:

By the looks of your highlighted text in your bubble you might be using the sheet set manager. Nice

oh look, there's a plug right between the john and the bath... perfect for radios and/or hair dryers

Sheet.

Sets.

Kick.

Ass.

Do I want to open 7060 - E1.3.dwg or Back of House - Power & Systems? Like I can want to keep track of what's on E1.3!

That would be a light. :D

The receptacle is out by the sink, so you can off yourself out there instead.

Since we're sorta sharing shots of cad work and whatnot, I attached a few views of the rotor design I'm working on displaying the computed factors of safety for anticipated loading scenarios from SolidWorks with CosmosWorks.

Design is at about 90% completion. Theres a few more thermal tests I want to do and I just have to verify that the place where I want to get them watercut can handle the geometry. Should be no problem, imo.

I constantly get emails and phone calls from SolidWorks about buying it or watching a webcast but we have no use for it here. How is it to work with? I've read articles about it and have always been interested in dabbling. There's just that pesky little problem called not enough time.

On the learning to use a new product topic, there are rumors floating around that we'll be getting AutoCAD Revit MEP. Does anyone have any experience with Revit?

Personally, I really enjoy it. For solid modelling and analysis, and creating mechanical assemblies complete with fasteners, I've not found anything better. It's fairly intuitive to use if you're the least bit acquainted with CAD programs, and it actually comes with good tutorials and help files.
It's leaps and bounds ahead of Pro/E, and I believe it to be a little more full featured than SolidEdge. I haven't tried a new version of AutoCAD for doing solids since 2003, but at that time it was a very cumbersome process and I expect it still is. I can't compare it with CATIA because I have not been able to get my hands on that software yet.

It'd probably make a mess of the electrical work you're doing though. It (or at least the student version I have) has no electrical modules and is really not intended for creating detailed 2D sketches. AutoCAD, since it is first and foremost a 2D cad program, is superior for that sorta thing.

I'll be updating it when I get a chance to work on it again, but I did this in AutoCAD 2006. It's not all that difficult to work with and I've read that newer version are even easier.

Agreed. We have absolutely no intentions of buying it as it would be a horrendous waste for us. The only reason I get calls and emails is because I registered to win something from them a few years ago.

Word of advice, kiddies - if you don't want to be hassled* by a company, don't register for a free iPod**

*It hasn't been all that bad. Emails are easy to delete and they only call about every 9 months.

**or whatever the offer was at the time.

I was just working on a list about vitamins and minerals etc. I'm going to use this list to see if I don't take in too much of these things a day (I take foodsupplements => natural ones)

:)

Been using ProEngineer Wildfire 4.0 today to CAD design some components, then going to render them in Alias Imagestudio 3.

Plus been modeling stuff by hand in blue foam..

Oh the joy...:ill:

Funny, I'm studying for my Environmental Science exam for tomorrow. One hopes the professor focuses most on population and water, two things I know far better than soil composition and the like. We'll see...

Look at this little hot number that showed up on my desk. For the first time in the history of our company, we will be taking a 3D model and using it to create 2D production sheets. This should be fun!

The original model is so large (file size) that they had to piece it together with Xrefs so you could view the whole thing at once.

Coursework, its fun.

talking of colleges as Loon mentioned, I got offered a place at the national college for motorsport the other day :)

I just cleaned my living room carpet. Ain't that a B[issell]

Is it this Solaris?

And thanks for making my hotel look like an adobe hut. :grumpy:

We'll be going to Revit sooner than we thought. We've got 2 more projects that are requiring it. Looks like I might be getting some more training. I hope it's out of town so I can go on a road trip...

:P

I'm working on this here research paper on biofuels that is due in 26 hours.

I'm thinking I could have a very long night (or lack thereof) tonight.

Yes...that is THE Solaris.

Ok....so you shocked me by saying that you have been cableless for a longtime. Now its my turn to shock you. That model was done with bare bones autocad! No Revit or anyother program to help things along. They did it the old fashion way! Our consultant had 16 people working on this project at one point.

We don't usually mess with 3D stuff but it was required by the owner that all the subs submit 3D renderings.

Put on heavy trance music and start typing, I've busted out 20 page papers in a fairly short amount of time by doing that. If you know your subject decently well good music with out words helps you become really focused on the task at hand.

About to check if I'm able to run Autodesk Inventor (the educational version) on my laptop or my dad's desktop. I need a better computer.

(Probably going to check prices on NewEgg...)
