Ripping on YSSMAN in the movies forum. ;)

Looking forward to it...

...All while doing my American Foreign Policy exam, albeit, on a small break while here on GTP.

Ok....so you shocked me by saying that you have been cableless for a longtime. Now its my turn to shock you. That model was done with bare bones autocad! No Revit or anyother program to help things along. They did it the old fashion way! Our consultant had 16 people working on this project at one point.
That is mental. I've done a fair amount of 3D in AutoCad but never to that extent!

It's not the most detailed I've done, but this is probably the coolest. When you put in this many, you better make sure you have it set up right.

Point of interest: The round light fixtures in the mesh grid are $500 a pop.

Yes...that is THE Solaris.

We don't usually mess with 3D stuff but it was required by the owner that all the subs submit 3D renderings.

WOW!!

Was it all solid modelling? Can AutoCAD handle a solprof of that to make 2D profiles? How did you get it from 3D to 2D?

A couple guys at the high school I graduated from did a bar and grill as a 3D solid model, with tables, chairs, silverware, toilets, and kitchen equipment. It took 25 minutes for our teacher to load it.

And I thought my solid T-Bucket was cool.. :dopey:

What is your problem? I was only implying something, and in fact, I was disposing of my GT4 copy, because it died.

Yeah you know exactly what you were insinuating, you did that only so you have that post below mine, and to make me look like an arse.

You've got your occupation dead on.

If you guys are going to do this, spare the rest of us and PM it, please.

Yes...you can see in the pic the mind bending wire frame in the backround and I think my computer pulled a muscle doing the render of that section.

Each piece of concrete in the project is modeled as a single unit. All I have to do to make it 2D is pick it off the drawing and view it from the right axis to make it look 2D. I will not actually "transform" anything into a 2D flat drawing. Our laborers will have no idea that the paper they are looking at has a 3rd dimension.

Cool! So it's just a matter of plotting individual pieces of concrete in all the right elevations?

My feeble mind just exploded.

Good God! So.. many.. dimension.. lines! Is that what all of the orange lines are?

Reconciling my General Ledger for the Month of February. Not near as cool as the rest of your guy's stuff. I could show you guys examples but you might fall asleep.

It looks like column grid lines, but those are then used for dimensioning where the structural post are located, so correct, to a point.

That drawing doesn't have a single dimension line on it. I will be doing a cut and paste of the pieces to a different dwg. to dimension it.

I'm so glad we don't dimension any of our devices. I despise dimension lines.

Have fun! :D

Working on my final year dissertation... 9000 words :indiff:

Everyone seems to use solidworks and autocad... In our uni we only use ProEngineer Wildfire... apparently Airbus use it! :sly:

We use Pro/E here too. The FSAE team decided it was too ghetto and ordered us a bunch of copies of Solidworks.

Finally finished this 8 page paper. Now I'm just wondering what to do for the next few days before I leave now that everybody has left for break.

DIMENSIONING. SUCKS.

:dunce:

I'm still working on my Rhetorical Analysis paper.. I'm at seven pages. My professor told me it was at a level above English 120. :sly:

I'm not sure how to cite ten years of accumulated random knowledge and several visits to the Truman Library with my Dad in Independence, Missouri.

Digging a 2" deep trench around my house that I will fill with water and keep spies out with.

Really I'm just going to put in some plastic stuff to keep water form the foundation.

Posting the pic of the wine bottle rack I built. (was building it when I first posted on this thread).
Took a lot of time, as I did it all from scratch (mostly on my uncle's shop - he builds furniture) based on a model I saw. But I think it was worth it.

Just finished giving my graduation thesis presentation: "Thermal FEA and Optimization of Formula SAE Brake Rotors"

It went awesome :D My advisor was super impressed and there was a lot of good questions from the other students that attended it. I went way way over my time budget (25min presentation + Q&A period became 45mins) but they let me keep going rather than playing the 'award show music' because of the interest and discussion it was generating.

Nice one Beerz :) What type of wood is it?
Thanks, Robin. It's just standard pine wood (cheaper), but I took my time (and tricks) to 'age it' properly.
Looks better live than on that shot, actually.
