We're a Volvo family. And I've always learned that Volvo's are sweet, any other cars suck.

I guess I already grew past that. But I do feel diffirent about Volvo's than the regular John Doe.
Because I grew up around them. (God, I sound stupid! :))

But what I want to know is what your opinion is of the brand.

Fresh input: I suffer towards Volvo's what MazKid suffers towards (them damn) Mazda's.

Only my case isn't chronical. And it can be treated. Heh.

Well, I always thought of Volvo as being upscale yet still priced well. Like inbetween a Mazda and a Mercedes. But Volvo doesn't have much variation...they all look alike. They onlyhave coupes, sedans, wagons, convertables, and now an SUV, where as say Mazda has an economy sedan, a midsize sedan, a luxery sedan, a roadster/convertable/sports car, soon to be 4 seater rotary sports car, SUV, truck, van, 5 door economy hatch, soon to be 5 door midsize hatch and midsize wagon, and others to come in the future. Volvo is like a one track car company, they focus on one thing and do it really well, but that's all they do. Where as Mazda has a wide variety of veihicles, most really good quality for the price.

But sadly, both companies are partly controlled by Ford.

What better brand to ford the river of the future than Ford? Ha, I thought of that myself. Thank you, thank you.

Stupid one track car company! The XC90 rules.

I've liked Volvo's since the late 70's, but really appreciated them with the 1984 240DL that saved my life. Going uphill on a left bend, some rainy, greasy residential street. An old couple in a Cadillac DeVille started sliding (going down towards us), panicked and hit the gas. Flew right into us broadside. Smashed the entire driver's side, but mostly the driver's side passenger door. Luckily, the boat-sized Caddy was wide enough to be held by the B-pillar, which I remember as not having moved much. I also remember the passenger window as having bent, rather than broke or shattered. So, I like Volvo's for that reason alone.

I also like their new styling, if a bit consistent and difficult to tell a S60 from a S80, but you could do a lot worse than copy and already good design. The S60-R looks sweet enough to me. If it handles as well as the original S60 T5, then it may really be a viable alternative to what Audi and BMW can dish out at that price. I also like the fact that -- like Mazda -- Volvo has kept their [tweed-jacket-with-leather-elbow-patches] character despite being owned by the Ford conglomerate. I only wish Jaguar could have done the same.

Volvo's good stuff. Better Swedish than Saab by far. Singular and fluid exterior, Workbench (rather than Ikea crap) interior, rapidly-improving performance (that 240DL had, what, 94HP?), and a true sleeper when it comes to being a real joy to drive (whod'a thunk it?).

I think volvo's are nice, but I'd never pay for one.. (unless I were to get one of the older ones, that you can throw MASSIVE boost to, and build a real sleeper :) -but that would just be a toy..)

Hey, snoop, I've got a story for you, and it happened tonight!

It all began a few hours ago when my doorbell rang (at about (9:30 on a fackin' Sunday night during the World Series). I went to the door and no one was there... the ML was in the garage and the car was in the driveway, and I was a little wary that someone would steal it or something. Rather than move the car, I wanted to watch the World Series since Tim Salmon had just homered to put the Angels in the lead.

Anyway, I went back inside and watched. When it ended, I went outside again and the driveway had some eggs on it - as did the Audi, but just one actually hit the Audi and barely. I got a baseball bat and a flashlight and told Danielle I was going to go drive around for a bit to see if I could find whoever did it.

So I go outside and get in the Audi and begin driving around. I drive over through my area and to the houses around me, and I'm heading back for home, disillusioned, when I notice an older silver Volvo coming toward me. Before it gets to me, it turns off, and so commences the chase.

I turn down the street they went down. Evidently, they didn't see me because he turned right at the end of the street (going towards the river where there is no way out except back through other mino streets). I'm about a block back at this point, and gaining fast. When I turned off that street, I got behind them by about half a block and they noticed me and blasted through the stop sign at the end of that street. They then turned left and proceeded to go (I, at least, went) upwards of 60 MPH. At the end of this long street, they ran another stop sign, then ran a red light at the top of the hill and got on to 96th Avenue, where I didn't bother to chase them any farther since it's crowded at all hours of the night.

Vroom.

Great story :m:5Power  I bet that got the adrenaline pumping abit? They used a get away car, for egging your motor?

Well the 4WD/AWD cars are great, but the more powerful FF do suffer some torque steer (Though there's ample gadgets), but then :volvo: Drivers aren't usually racers..:burnout:

My Uncle loves them but spends a lot on repairs..

They are also abit of a con because there's a flashing light and annoying bleep :note: that comes on when a service is due and it can only be turned off at the dealer (high prices).
Naturally a car really shouldn't be judged for this..just thought I'd point it out..

Of course if you want to crash in any car, make it a Volvo :D
