It could be, but what evidence have you seen that we haven't?
With Nissan seemingly becoming more and more involved with Polyphony Digital and the Gran Turismo franchise I'd say a new Nissan sports car is probably likeliest, but if not that then probably a new European addition to the game, as they're trying to get rid of their Japan-centric image.

Yamauchi has stated before that the concept car under the blue cover shown at the Silverstone demo will be the vehicle on the cover.
Also realize that the reason Yamauchi chose the SLS AMG for GT5 was because it was the "hottest car at the time of release".
The game will be releasing in the fall around the same time as the Tokyo Auto Show.
The car under the cover is obviously a Front-midship Rear wheel drive car that is longer than a Toyota 86. Also notice the scalloped convexed front bumper, similar to the Toyota 86.
Now what car has Toyota been hinting at for the past 3 years, has been developing hand in hand with BMW and everyone has been pestering Toyota about? What car will be the "hottest car" during the fall season of 2013?

I highly doubt it'll be the new Supra. No matter how nice that would be, I could still see the new Z over the Supra
We all know how much Polyphony has been barraged over their relationship with Nissan (by everyone in the press as well as Gran Turismo fansites). I highly doubt they would put a Nissan on the cover. It is a possibility though.
Whatever it is, it won't be a car we have already seen and the Tokyo Auto Show is in an EXTREMELY convenient position time wise. But it will be FR, that is for sure.

Seems legit. So again, I could see the new Z on the cover. The lines of the car line up well enough, but then again, so does the lines of the Supra. I'm still suspecting the new Z. Or whoever gave them the most money.

I would like to see more than one car on the cover. Give us an essence of speed or driving competition to look at. It is a driving simulator

Thats funny because I do know what it is. It's pretty easy to tell. Look at the shape under the cover. It's been said numerous times but it should be apparent.
Due to anger from others, I'd say that the distinct shape really has it looking like either an 86 GT or a very similar car from Toyota. That, or some car that hasn't been revealed to the public yet. I could be wrong but it looks outstandingly obvious from my perspective.
It doesn't make sense to be the 86 since this car isn't new, but I'm not going to rule it out. If Toyota does come out with a new Supra, I wouldn't be surprised if its what finds the cover.

OK, I'm photoshopping the cover onto side views of new(ish) sports cars. I can unofficially say that it is not

The thing is, we can't really rule any of these close matches though.
There are a whole ton of variables that could justify why any of these cars doesn't quite fit.
Different amounts of aperture in each picture, perspective from where the picture was taken, etc. Anybody who knows about photography will know what I'm talking about.
Therefore all these layover comparisons can't really serve as too much of an indicator to anything, unfortunately. A car that matches almost perfectly could easily not be it, while a car that doesn't really fit could be the car under the cover.

Even if that were the case it doesn't explain why they would put a known car under a tarp for 6 months. Look at the past when they've done that, it's ALWAYS been a new car under there that they've revealed alongside the manufacturer. Putting an 86 or any variant of it, even if it were a slightly new model, would be stupid.
