What changes would you make to the Livery Editor?

Yep, just learned about it. It seems you need to add to your online favorites, then go to garage to apply. Would've been nice if Kaz/PD communicated this better. Commentators on some liveries in the game seem to be oblivious of this feature as was I.

Well most of the useful things have been said, I want them to make it easier to select your livery for use on your vehicle. It's incredibly annoying to get in the car in the garage then go to livery chooser. Seriously why not just have the little paint icon appear when you select the car(the way it's done for cars with multiple livery colors already in the game) and have a limit of like 5 favorites you choose from? This going to the garage thing is so archaic and time wasting, why do I need to get in a car to design a livery for it, let me choose the car in the editor I wish to make the livery for. Simple things PD does the longest route possible on.

Completely agree. I was doing a race the other night and saw a car that gave me a great idea for a livery, went into livery editor and realised I was in the wrong car! Had to go to garage and change car! So frustrating!!

Replace the stupid HSV B.S to HEX/RGB.

Also, get rid of that limitation imposed on Ferrari's. Seriously, can't even reproduce a livery because all the stickers required (and they are ingame!) cannot be applied on that car. Thanks licencing...

Whilst I agree with almost everything mentioned so far. I would like the current implementation to be perfected first though. The thing that is catching me out most of the time is when I rotate the car to get a better view, and the controls are still working for the previous orientation. :banghead: Things that are for the roof can overflow onto the sides and front of the car. Useful sometimes, but most of the time I just want the decal on the roof, side, front, back or bonnet/hood and not going onto other parts of the car.

Improvements I would like, some of which have been mentioned. If you are able to do any of these and I've missed it, please point it out. ;)

1. The first thing, and this goes for the whole game, have the option to save locally if not connected to the Network. You could spend hours doing something, and no Network connection and....

2. Ability to resize the width or the height separately for objects. I think I have been able to do this before in another game, but I can't remember which one.

3. Option to group objects together.

4. Option to save grouped objects as a new object for use on other cars.

4. All Logo's available in original colour and at least black and white versions. Even better would be the option to choose a colour. The red Brembo logo doesn't work with certain background colours for example.

5. Logo's for all manufacturers.

6. Large font selection.

7. Ability to type words or groups of numbers rather than a letter / number at a time.

That's all I can think of for now, but it's only been a week. ;)

You can already resize height and width separately (number 2 on your list), you have to hold down one of the bumper buttons, and use the stick at the same time.

Thank you graveltrap, I was hoping there was something I had missed. This makes the livery editor a lot more usable for me. :)

-Auto-mirroring like in NFS Carbon to Undercover
-Typing letters like in NFS 2015
-Layer grouping
-Brand/manufacturer logos
-Colourable decals

They should do this...

1. Exit bubble. :nervous:

2. See NFS.

3. See Forza.
4. Come to realization. 💡

5. Get back in bubble. :)

6. Go to work. :irked:

7. Celebrate a job well done.

Coordinates for better accuracy in placement, scaling, rotation and skewing.
Great idea
Add me in game bro so I can get your link and like and re post my favourites
Check out my liveries and photos #aezeus for a link to the gallery.

-Duplicate layers to different parts of the body etc.
-Merge layers
-Transparency
-Type words
-More fonts
-Edit downloaded liveries
-Not sure how to write this down, but some way to prevent decals from showing up on the surface behind the surface I'm placing the decal on.
-Way more logo's (also for each car I think there should be a brand-logo available)
-Colorize brand decals (i understand that this can be a biggy)
-The ability to also put decals on helmets and suits
-The ability to place a decal over the whole car instead of over parts of it separately
-Give every car the option to change tyres
-Give every car the option to change the color of the headlights
-Color picker
-The ability to put decals on the underside of spoilers when they are raised
-Click-point-draw custom decals
-Masking layers
-And obviously I'd like to decal uploader to go live ASAP

From the GTS online manual ;)

In your case you have to move the "Depth Limit" slider to the left (negative value)

Lots of great (and repeated :)) suggestions.

  • Grouping would be huge
  • Typing out text too!
  • Ability to have a decal act as a mask instead of a visible image, switchable between the positive or negative space
  • Saved custom colors
  • Saved decal groups
  • I'm OK with the HSV vs hex/RGB but at least use the standard scale instead of literally reinventing the 🤬 (color) wheel
  • Or...ability to toggle between HSV (still standard!) or RGB or whatever other scales make sense
I would love there to to be a stamp tool so i could place multiple shapes relatively quickly.

Duplicating the decals is pretty close to this. It immediately switches to the new layer so you can move/scale/etc. and repeat pretty quickly. Stamp would be better, certainly, but I don't mind doing it this way.

Well, the ability to use all available manufacturer's colors on the current vehicle. That'll be nice.

We can Manufacturer colours...but it seems that you have to buy them from the Mileage Exchange.

IIRC, WR Blue Pearl from the Subaru WRX is in there right now.

From a quick play with it I think the ability to group layers together, flip a layer horizontally / vertically and mirror horizontally / vertically would speed things up no end. Some sort of conversion from RGB for the colour pallette too, so you can get colours accurate.

You guys said it all, but I'll elaborate why I want it:

Layer grouping
because it would make it easier to group the paint scheme stripes and certain in-game made decals to look cleaner and less time scrolling through the layers to check for errors.

Layers only showing for the side you work on
because it's a pain scrolling through layers from left AND right side at the same time. Left side layers should only show when working on the left side.

Coordinates to make it easier to know where to place the next decal next to the existing one(like letters etc.)

Option to type words instead of going through one letter at a time.

Option to duplicate a layer and then change decal type like you can in Forza. If the point above doesn't make it, this one is important. Instead of scaling down and rotating EVERY SINGLE LETTER you place, it would be nice to duplicate a letter and then change it to the next letter and just re-position it.

Numeric value with two decimals for scaling, rotation and skewing. Since you can position stuff beyond the normal degrees, you need fine tuning. (Like a scaled size of 5,15 instead of just 5,1. Makes all the sense in the world. Sometimes 5,1 is too small and 5,2 is too big)

Selective mirroring because sometimes you want to mirror something that either won't or does. Sometimes you want it mirrored, sometimes you don't. The Gran Turismo logos for example.. Impossible to make a "chrome line car" or "stealth car" like design without mirroring of the GT logo.

Fine tuning controls like in NFS2015. Sometimes you deal with an intricate piece and want to position juuuust right. Would be nice to have a button to push / hold down to slow down movement so you can place the piece right where you need it, or scale it to the perfect size, or simply being able to rotate it with ease.

Separate painting of the wheels because some liveries would look excellent with the front and rear wheels painted in different colors.

I'm sure there's more, but that's what I want for now.

I agree with you. Actually Forza on the 360 had a very accurate and easy to work with livery editor...I love GT Sport but it takes Hours to figure out how to place your letters one by one. In Forza you type it out first then place it and scale it ...very simple...why cant we have that in GT SPORT???

1) The ability to save a complex designs as a sticker to use it on different panels etc. 2) windshield banner colours if not stickers 3) as the guy above said stickers on windows 3) different colour wheels like the Hyundai gr.3 has 4) Brake calipers colours!

1: Recollecting a tweaked/customized color when you view a decal or paint setting. 2: Stroke/Outline option. 3: Customize windscreen banners. 4: Layer grouping ala Forza. Very common request but it bears repeating in my opinion. 5: The option to preview downloaded liveries like you would your own. As in you can rotate the car and whatnot.

You can already do 1, and 5,
