The car i want as my first car is a Lada Niva.
They were first produced in 77', but you can still buy them new for like €10k

Some of the others are the:

Hummer H1 Slantback Version

Lamborghini LM003

Volvo TP 21 Radiocar 57'

most of the cars i'd want to own are already listed in some form or another on this thread.
in EVERY SINGLE CASE, i'd prefer to have a modern, more powerful engine that is fuel injected and catalysed, together with an overdrive transmission, whether stick or auto. the more powerful engine would tax some of the less structurally stiff cars, so id want them to be stripped bare, reinforced with high strength steel, and have welds added to add strength where possible. better rustproofing, better brakes, better insulation, better suspension, modern wheels that mimic the ones that were contemporary when the cars were made.
the eagle E type should give you an idea of how comprehensive the updating would look.

i'll start with the ones that aren't listed; no pics. new mac, still learning. gonna try and link though.

BMW 3.0cs (imagine this with the twin turbo engine BMW and 6 speed uses right now) the most beautiful car to come out of Germany. period.
volvo amazon/ 122
1968 pontiac firebird. the camaro is too common.
1969 cadillac coupe de ville
lotus cortina
mk1 ford escort
FJ40 landcruiser (TLC makes one called the icon. that'll do just nicely)
dodge powerwagon concept (with cummins straight 6 diesel engine) to tow the race cars
rover SD 1
edit; citroen DS21
edit; vintage "doka"404 unimog.

the ones that have been somewhat mentioned;
BMW 2002, daily driver with modern engine and conveniences
BMW 2002 alpina. vintage race car.
datsun 510, BRE vintage race car
datsun 510, daily driver
1st gen toyota celica
alfa romeo 2000GTV
alfa romeo 1750GTV, vintage race car
mercedes 300SEL 6.3. (how delicious would this be with the current AMG 6.2 engine and the 7G-Tronic transmission.)
300SL gullwing
mk1 volkswagen GTI
early 70s volkswagen bus
mercedes gelandewagen. just give me a 1990 300GD as it came from the factory. no updating except for a five speed transmission.

thats plenty, so i'll stop posting now. i may amend later as i see fit.

1969 Corvette Stingray; Arguably the best looking American car ever:

1992 Formula Firehawk, If you're familiar with them, you'll know why I want one

I have it on very good authority that you don't want a new one. You want one with about 20-30,000km on it. By this time all the crappy Lada parts which break will have been replaced with proper items. :)

The lada niva doesn't have crappy parts. (well maybe a minor few, but nothing more than an average French car, but way more reliable)
They were a revolution in their time.
The 2123 even set an altitude record, but it has been broken by the touareg in 2005.

I'm not too hot on American Muscle...but i ALMOST talked my dad into a Goat

I prefer 50's and pre-war American cars (late thirties)...I'll take a Packard or a Stude (gimmie a Goldenhawk)

European? lessie...how about one of those little Porsche 944's? I saw a mint 928S once at a gas station while I was working. suh-WEET
most other things are too modern for THIS list (like a 99 306)

and now, to make the British guys laugh...
a Cortina Mk III or so
(waits for the loud Guffaw from every GT nut on the British Isles)

Ferrari 512 BB for me... I used to own three of these - two in race trim and another just plain red

Not what I heard. :indiff:

And this ought to float your boat:

Or you could check out the coolest Niva, ever. Evah!@

Some of those might not be old enough to be considered "classic" yet, but to me they are.

A selection of miscellaneous Japanese classics I'd love to own one day... But on the east coast that's going to be a bit difficult. But that's truly the way a classic Japanese car should look; riveted flares, chin spoiler, really wide Watanabes or old school Works, and dumped on the ground.

Missing from that list would be the SA22C RX7 and obviously the RX3.

I like your style. 👍

+1 👍

What the difference between that and a regular 240Z?

S30Z was the chassis code for the "regular" 240Z, a bit like BNR32 would represent a 1989-1994 Skyline GT-R, for example. That one is a regular 240Z, however there was a more powerful, long nosed version dubbed the S30ZG. You can notice the bottom of the bumper is more rounded out, like a jet fighter's auxiliary fuel tank.

Both are beautiful, but I'm partial to the short nosed version myself.

It's funny to look back at the way people modified their cars back in the 50s/60s/70s according to the regions they lived in. America had Cragar/American Racing wheels and superchargers sticking out from the bonnet, Europe had Borrani wire wheels, low slung windshields on the roadsters, and Asia used very wide wheels with massive fenders... All different ways to get to automotive nirvana. :)

I think wide wheels are generally a much later addition. In period japanese cars had wheels just as narrow as anywhere else in the world. Road car tyres didn't really become wide until the mid-late 70's.

Awesome taste. 👍
The Japanese sure knew how to design 'em back in these days.

I'd want Gen 1 Firebird. I think they looks so much better than the camaros, but unfortunatly I don't know too much about them since I never see them. If you watch the Matrix reloaded, when they are fighting on hte highway and that chick catches Morpheous she's driving one.

Those are all modern modified versions. With the exception of the 240Z, the original look for these cars, design-wise, is much much duller 👎

I'd still take that KPGC10.

Did think of one other car I'd like. this is probably the oldest one i'd get.

The Hudson's just a cool old car, one I liked before "Cars" made it popular. the prices for these cars is skyrocketong, though. Thanks, Doc.

id love to be able to track down the Capri RS3100 my dad had. other than that umm id like a proper mini and a miura orrr a charger daytona :P

I actually very nearly had a '70 Malibu SS just like this for my first car:
chev7001.JPG

As I recall, the sticker was something like $4000 at the time, which is probably five times that today...

Similarly, there was an El Camino SS 396 that was nearly bought as well:

....

Its probably better I didn't get these cars: They only would have gotten me in trouble!

Yeah, but who said you absolutely had to own them like they came out of the factory? :P
