All I heard about GT4 was online play, online play, online play. PD dropped online play for GT4, and look what happened. Next thing you know it, 5.5 trillion people had to get their diapers changed, get their bottles of milk warmed, and were crying like the world was coming to an end. Then interest was lost in GT4 by the whole world because people thought PD shafted the people at the last minute. So essentially, online play would have meant a brand-new GT4 game, but instead, people thought it was just another lackluster GT. Yeah, forget good graphics, extra tuning options, a revised physics model, extra cars, extra tracks, extra races, LAN play, and all that... online play was the only thing that mattered and people thought GT4 could have been better because of a non-essential feature. Way to go. 👍.
one taste of what online gaming is like - & you never look at AI competiton the same way again

its just so much more fun - being upset at the loos of online ability has a totally justified basis

& considering the development time put into GT4 - there no reason to conclude they had to drop all that you mentioned just to make it reality (not that i reccommend online gaming with the PS2 - too gutless to be an effective host-&-client)

why should people using the PS2 "simulation of all that is automotive" be forced to accept not having any of 3 such prestigious manufacturers , prehaps if you are so sick of it you could just not read any threads with it in - trying to downplay it as being OK is lame in my book - if the client base makes a big enough noise about it PD may actually re-evaluate the cost as being worth it

the game is not above & beyond any critisim at all - it is far from perfect

Tenacious D, there are supercars.
Well, yes that's true, but I did say "I do want those supercars," meaning those three lustbuckets. I do appreciate all the monster machines they put in Gran Turismo, and to be sure I don't miss the missing Big Three as much with the Saleens, GT40s and the like in the game. But us car freaks are never satisfied, you know.

The main reason I want them in is because this game allows us to collect a LOT of cars, and it is a shame that I can't have a Ferrari in the menagerie, but I'm not crying in my rootbeer over it. Also keep in mind that I think Badsight in his profoundly repetitive wisdom is the only one left insisting that Gran Turismo has to include them or it's the end of the world. ;)

dont be so dramatic . neither i nor anyone else in this particular thread has said anything of the sort

as for not buying GT5 if those 3 are missing <~~~ thats also childish . but why defend their absence , thats just fanboyisim

i dont see why people defend PD as if the game is perfect or above criticism

What they need to do is turn their attention to the rest of the world rather than putting tons of japannese cars. A good market strategy would be to add cars that are only made in one country...for example, Dacia in Romania is well known. Its not fast. But if there was a game in which it would be featured and where you could tune its cars lots of people from Romania would buy it. And it goes the same with other countries.
Ferrari MUST be added. As for the porsche, im quite satisfied with the sportier RUF models.

Your all talking rubbish...........Nissan's, we need more Nissan's in GT5 ;)

I would like to see more non-japanese cars in the game. I'm a big Japanese car fan, but there a 1000's of great cars from Europe that need to be included.

A quick shortlist...

Land Rover/Volvo/Jaguar/Aston Martin: I put Ford's Premium Auto Group all together. From Aston Martin, the new V8 Vantage and Vanquish S would be nice; maybe a classic or two like a DB5 or a Zagato model. Can't really think of anything from Jag, other than maybe one of the classic D-Type racers or an XJR sedan. Volvo needs the S60R, as well as the S40 T5, and perhaps an 850R(or T5 R) wagon. Land Rover can get the previous model Range Rover 4.6 HSE, the new Range Rover Sport(really based on the LR3), and maybe a really old Range Rover tuned by Overfinch.

Rolls Royce/Bentley: Some of these would be cool. Maybe a couple of the more traditional models, then the newest models done by their new owners, BMW and VW, respectively. From Bentley, an Arnage and a Continental GT would be nice for starters.

Porsche: IMHO, not really a must. It's hard to get licensing, so RUF fits the bill for me.

Audi/Volkswagen/Lamborghini/SEAT: The Audi S8 would be cool, as would the R9 911 rival and the diesel R10 Le Mans car. How about the Scirocco or the Corrado? I don't know what to do about Lamborghini, but the Audi R9 should offer a similar experience to a Gallardo, since they will use similar platforms. Perhaps more Seats could be used; even though they are reskinned or rebadged VW/Audis, maybe PD can leave gaps in the VW/Audi lineups so that Seat can have a couple more cars.

Mercedes: I don't really know what to add here. They're pretty well represented in Gran Turismo, imho.

Fiat/Ferrari/Maserati/Alfa Romeo Maybe some of the tuned Ferraris from Koenig could be added. If it is impossible to get Ferrari, maybe we could get Maserati as a compromise. I'd love to see the new Coupes and Quattroporte, as well as older cars like the Ghibli Cup. The rare and brutish Alfa SZ would be a cool addition.

Citroën/Peugeot: Ah, the PSA giants. I don't know much about them, but they seemed to have a decent representation in GT4.

Renault: The RenaultSport MKII Clio(MKIII should be out in time as well) and Megane are a must. The MKI Clio williams is a hot hatch legend, and would be nice to see.

Honda/Acura: They seem to be okay. Maybe add the Honda Legend/Acura RL, and maybe(a big maybe) the Ridgeline.

Nissan/Datsun/Infiniti: Pulsar GTi-R, S12 Gazelle, Micra R, Altima SE-R, Sentra SE-R(B13 and B15), Cedric/Gloria, Fuga 450GT, Cima. Infiniti Triant Concept would be cool, too. Additional NISMO specials are more than welcome.
*Additional note* Less GT-R variants, please. Maybe two of each(V-Specs and N1s??) and leave it at that.

Toyota/Lexus/Scion: AE86 Coupes!! How about a Trueno hatch and Levin coupe? The older rwd Starlet! Scion tC. Can't think of much else.

Subaru: The 22B was a nice start, but how about some of the limited edition STi cars? The S202, S204 and S204 are examples. Don't need to have them all, though. How about the basic WRX, which can be a cheaper, less sophistcated alternative to the STi.

Daihatsu: Can't think of anything I want to see.

Kia/Hyundai: They've got some nice concepts. Maybe more of them.

General Motors/Saab/Daewoo/Suzuki/Opel/Vauxhall/Holden: The Vauxhall Astra VXR, and possibly the Corsa and Vectra VXRs as well. Maybe the Zafira VXR minivan for kicks. The Cadillac V-series models would be cool. How about a final edition Camaro SS, and a Trans Am WS6? The old Pontiac Rageous concept would be cool, too. The Holden Ute is a must. The C6 Corvette and Z06 model would be nice too. The Cobalt SS and Solstice GXP are welcome as well. The old Bellaires(Nomad included) would be interesting, too.

Ford Motor Company: The new Focus ST, the Sport Trac Adrenalin(why didn't they just make another Lightning??), Contour SVT, '03 Cobra SVT(with the blower), Shelby Mustang GT500(I'm sure it'll be in there), recent Mercury Marauder, Lincoln LS V8 and Mark VIII. Older rotaries from Mazda like the RX-3 would be cool.

Chrysler Corporation: Some SRT models are welcome. How about some of the amazing concepts that never made full-scale production? The Razor, Copperhead, Tomahawk and Venom come to mind.

BMW: I fully expect to see the E90 M3 and the new M6. The E39 M5 was an amazing vehicle, and really deserves to be in the game. The 130i Sport is pretty cool.

Lotus: The S2 Exige, though I suspect that's a given. How about the limited edition supercharged 240R edition as well? An original Seven or Eleven would be sweet, too. Maybe the original Seven could be an alternative to the Caterham(a Lotus Seven replica), which could not be used in races.

TVR: The Typhon and Sagaris, please. The original Griffith would be cool, too.

More tuners would be cool, too. More on that later.

You call that quick, VQuick? Of course, I'm the one usually getting b****ed on about my posts.

Regardless, your "quick" list has a nice assortment of cars. I'm guessing you too were sad that the Scion tC wasn't included for GT4, because that's one of the cars I'd love to tune up. It's no sports car, but... you know the line- "does it have to be?" I liked sitting in the car. While the inside is mostly plain, I do feel pretty nice in it. If I had enough money and a license, I'd have one as a daily driver.

It's nice to see we also like the same Chevy- the Belair (not bellaire). I would also add beauty and the beast- the BMW M1. Even better would be an M1 and an M1 race car. I heard it had about 1,000+ hp. I think the Toyota 2000GT is one of the most beautiful Japanese cars ever made, other than the Datsun 240Z (made by the same Yamaha group). A racing variant of this classic 2000GT (if any) would also be nice.

A nice mix of race cars and normal cars as well as tuners would make me happy. That's regardless of specific manufacturers in the game.

Ah, a fellow Houstonian. Well, I'm actually In Katy...

To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of the tC. It's a good car and all, but not really my thing. It's fwd(I've been trying to wean myself off of it) and a bit on the heavy side, too. Still, it's the sportiest Scion out there, and should help the lineup's appeal in the game.

Some American tuners like Callaway, Henessey, etc would be cool. European tuners like Dahlback, Brabus or Alpina could be included. Other big names in Japan such as Top Secret or Yashio Factory would be welcome too. I was really hoping to see a street car from RE Amemiya in GT4, but maybe there could be one in GT5.

Sintura, Venmac, Vauxhall, Quaife, Noble, Marcos (race cars), MG, Maserati, Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Saleen (mustang and S7 race cars), TVR (race cars) mostly all those.

yay more rice burners! :yuck:
Excuse me, but if your calling comeone who doesn't even have a car, yet alone old enough drive one, a ricer, your a complete dumbass. Just because a car is Japanese doesn't mean its a ricer, just because if its a Honda doesn't mean its a rice car. Other wisse your calling like 3/4 of people with cars, a ricer. Thats like going to ever other person and yelling LOOK! ANOTHER RICER! Japanese cars, are probally more practicle then most American, or British cars, or even German cars... The term ricer is out of use WAY to much, expecially when you read the coments of streetfire, if theres a 1,200 bhp Nissan Skyline, the first 5 coments are like. Pfft.. stupid dumbass ricers, when they probally own a 3 generation hammy down Geo Metro. Ricer is usually a young Mexican that puts a 3 foot talk spoiler, and shinny 20" crome rims on Toyota Corolla. (I'm not saying all, and only mexicans, but a majority of them are) Now i got that out of my head...
I say we need a little bit more of everything!
