This may fit better in the Time Trial discussion but since you posted here...
You won’t magically lower your time by 2-3 seconds by switching from controller to wheel, absolutely not. Especially not on such a short lap. First of all it takes quite a lot of practice and time to make that transition and the biggest difference between controller and wheel has more to do with consistency and for example tyre wear in races where that’s activated, where wheel users benefit through keeping tyres alive longer than controller users. In a time trial, like this, that’s obviously a non-factor.
The top times are a combination of insane skill along with persistence. Hours on end, for sure.
OK thanks for your input, but I would have to disagree on your point. I do believe using a pedals & wheel is faster around any track in the game if you know the track well and have a decent setup wheel with calibration and feedback.
Now, I'm not a noob player to Gran Turismo games, been there since day 1 of GT1, I am by no means a pro racer or sim racer as such. Just a casual gamer that loves the GT game series. I used to use a wheel setup back in the day on GT3 and GT4, but dont have a wheel right now for the newer games. I have noticed my pace get consistently quicker over hte udration of GT7's launch and that has all been using a controller, no wheel.
Do please watch the whole video.
As you can see here by fellow YouTuber raceguru, "SUPER GT" - Steve Alvarez, he is a seasoend GT Sport and GT7 Player, bit different to the top racers in this trial, who some are GT world series racers obviously. In the video you see him progressively get quicker within the top 1000 of the world times in this time attack. He is using a wheel and pedal race rig setup. Fanatac DD I think.
He is very fast on deep forest, and gets a 1:15 something quick, despite him starting late.
Albiet the Dualsense is a very good controller, you just don't have sharp as input or as quick as a wheel. Now on the other hand, some guys here and kudos to them, have achieved 1:15 times on a controller and they are very impressive.
As much as I grinded, My blistering oldman time of 1:17.20 was not quick enough to get me there up the ranks, lol. Maybe next year chaps!!
I look forward to seeing Will Murdoch "BSCOMP_Will" represent UK in the Singapore heats, in a few months time.
