I searched the the GT4 Main forum, and could'nt really find anything on this topic, So, I am going to start a new one. So, I ask the question again. What do you think is the worst "Prize Car"? For me, It would probably be the Mazda6 Race Car. I mean, I got one for doing the normal Wet Tskuba. Wasted 5 Mins, on that. I mean, ITS IN THE DEALERSHIP!!! For only 200K. Ugh, I was very disapointed after that. So, Tell us. WHATS YOUR WORST PRIZE CAR!?

For me it is undoubtedly the NIKE One 2022 - not only is it useless for racing but you win the 🤬 thing twice. This is closely followed by the JAY LENO Tank Car.

In GT4 there are many bad prize cars.As well as the ones allready mentioned we have:
The model T ford and the other two motor carriges are next to no use at all.
You win a Toyota Vitz/Yaris after you have to buy one to enter the race.
Same goes for 2CV, Subaru 360 and Triumph Spitfire.
You win Two Nike One at the Sallen race and when you get one as a license prize, so two cars the same that cant be raced in competition or sold for cash.

Forgot the Volvo wagon.

All the cars you guys mentioned, are all useless. I mean, The Nike car serves no purpose. I beleive, they put it in the game because they had to other cars too. Keep your Opinions coming guys!

Actually, you win a 2CV from the French championship in European Hall first, but you get a "special color" for winning the 2CV championship.

Sadly, the only thing worse than a 50 year old, 15HP piece of 🤬 is...a PINK, 50 year old, 15HP piece of 🤬.

i think i would go for either tha wan that you e\win in sunday cup i think,
or maybe the autostream audi....
not much use in that either

I basically think the cars you can't use in other races.

But you know what really throws me off? The special colour cars you win. always bad colours and are just a clone of the car you used to win it. In my last file (old file corrupted) I remember buying an Aston Martin DB9, beat the Aston Martin event and then won a golden Aston Martin!! grrrrr...

I actually like the special color ones... The Nike ONE. Well, I don't hate it. I like the two 1886 one's because of the fact that it was some of the first cars ever.

The worst prize car(s) is the old rally cars, I just don't race those kinda' cars:indiff:

Interesting to see this, in that...
I instantly thought about how each of us would judge what a bad prize car is differently.
Some of us dislike a prize car simply because it is the same car we just used in the series (something I really dislike).
Some of us dislike the car because it just isn't what we wanted.

Personally, I'd have to say the worst prize car in GT4 is the Model T.
I'm glad they included the car for history's sake. However, I am very disappointed to see that earning all gold on your Super license will earn you a car that isn't worth a darn thing racing and doesn't offer any level of higher performace (which would be fitting for an all gold racer who would then be considered a "master" of GT4 because of their gold status).

On the other side of this coin though, I've got to mention the black FGT. Couldn't ask for a better prize car... Achieve 100% gold and you win a special, all-black, formula one race car (which serves as the ultimate car).

I sort of feel like the Model T and the Black FGT should have been reversed... Model T for 100% (since you've probably got everything worth using already) and the FGT for mastering the game (a master's car for a master's achievement).

Now that sounds good to me but then again, what do I know? :sly:

I think gettin the Chaparral 2D for the 4 hour endurance race at the ring was pretty bad. I love the car but I was just expecting a little more. Getting the Auto Union Streamliner at the Grand Valley 300K was bad as were most of the license test prize cars.

Very well put! 👍

For instance, I love the special cars, as I don’t need to enter them in a race against five AI driven cars to appreciate them. Instead, I enjoy taking them out on any course in GT4 and see what they are like to drive... or to race against a real oponent... for me, that's the whole point of Gran Turismo... to experience driving cars that you might otherwise never have an opportunity to drive... I don't need five AI cars on the track at the same time to accomplish this. :)

I also agree with your criticism of the prize cars awarded for the license tests - most of them make absolutely no sense! At least in GT3, the cars you won for the license tests reflected closely to the cars you used to complete the tests, and the difficulty level involved.

Personally, though, I like that the Black FGT car is the last bonus car you win, as getting 100% is truly the mark of mastering all skills in GT4, not just the licenses... but it is so wrong to award the Model T for any license test! :)

So what is the worst prize car for me?

For me it's easy, any car that you must buy first, so that you end up getting a prize car that you already own. 👎

I suppose PD tried to make up for this by making the prize car versions, of those races, come with "special paint jobs" that you cannot get when you buy them.

To be specific though, if I had to choose it would be a tie between:
  • 1958 Subaru 360 (Subaru 360 Race)
  • 1974 Triumph Spitfire (Spitfire Cup)
The reasons for this are:
  • Both cars must be bought first anyway in order to enter the race. 👎
  • Both of these cars can be bought new. (vast majority of prize cars cannot be bought new).
  • Both can be bought new for less than $40k (Spitfire only costs $17k)
Now I suppose the Subaru 360 is even worse than the Spitfire, as it can be used in fewer races than the Spitfire, and even races where it can enter, its capabilities, or lack thereof, makes it less useful than the Spitfire outside of the 360 race of course, 1 vs 1 racing, and timed solo racing.

So I guess for me, it sounds like the 1958 Subaru 360 is the worst/most useless prize car in GT4. :)

I'd agree on the Subaru 360 and Triumph Spitfire, it doesn't really make any sense to win another car like the one you'd just bought to enter the race with.

However my vote for the Worst Prize Car in GT4 would be the Nike One 2022, a thoroughly useless car that doesn't even exist and given the dubious "science" it's based on, likely never will. To compound the situation, you actually win this booby prize twice.

Agreed, the Spitfire and the little Subaru are less-than-spectacular choices as prize cars as they can be bought... but I must admit that a WR Blue 360 with Spec C wheels looks so damn funny that it deserves its place in my garage.

My pick, though, would be the Honda Life Step Van. All other almost useless Kei cars from decades back are sold as used cars but this one somehow deserved to be a prize car. No idea why...

I hate the volvo: i mean, its an estate, not a hot-hatch. and it might have been half-good if you could take part in races with it. Others topping my list are those useless 'special colour' cars, not forgetting the understeer champion of the world: the jay leno tank car.

Currently I don't have a "worst prize" in mind. I hate the fact that you get no money for selling a lot of cars in GT4, though. I mean...I thought my Nike 2022 or whatever would earn me some bankage... :irked:

Agreed. I know IRL someone would pay alot to buy a 2002 Ford GT Concept, or the Ford Model T. :irked::grumpy: Come on, the Ford T with 0 miles on the clock is worth more than some fancy Audi R8. 0 MILES ON THE CLOCK!

You just pointed out something incorrectly, because actually
the volvo can be used to race races with, clearly i have no idea where you got that idea.

It also can have a very nice performance if tuned right, and thus is actually quite "hot".

It's not the correct car to get from that contest, since the Volvo isn't a Hatchback, more likely a Station Wagon. A lot of people i think are dissapointed in it's looks; i am partially, i just wanted to see the sedan.

Games aren't always meant to be realistic, of course, how can you get a Ford Model T with 0 Miles on the clock? I don't really think cars had mile-counters back in the days?

Concept cars are in the game just for the purpose that people LIKE them a lot, most of them that is.

You can't drive them in real life, wich is what makes it so special.

I'm also quite surpised in the fact that a lot of prize cars can't be sold, whilst they should be able to think up a reasonable price for it.

Besides that, it just depends on what people think of the concept of "Worst".

Why bother bumping it? If the discussion winds down, thats what It does.

I'm gonna have to say that the Autobianchi is the worst Prize Car, you really can't do very much with it....

You Bump it, So other people can see the topic.... and might want to drop their 2Cents in. Thats all.

worst prizae car is the Kusabi. I never drove it, and i never will.
EDIT BOB kicks butt with it,
I dont like the nike one very much, nor the motorcarriage,

I believe the point he was making is that not only was the thread still very much active, so there was no need to bump it, but unless I'm mistaken, it is actually against the rules of this forum to bump a thread, even one that has been dormant for over a year, simply to bump it with no other reason.

Mmmm that car is quite craptastic. Its pretty much a full on, peeing on a tombstone, disgrace to the Abarth name :grumpy:

I have to say that i was pretty disappointed with the Alfa Romeo you get from winning the 1000 miles! I mean its a pretty car... but it hardly seems worth the effort, although winning the 1000 miles! is as easy as buying an AC Cobra... still all those torturous miles at Opera Paris and Cote D'Azur

There were a few prize cars that disapointed me...

Daihatsu Midget (Midget II Race) - small and useless.
Mazda 110S (Club RE) - a Mazda tuner or concept would have been more appropriate.
Subaru 360 (360 Race) - small and useless, and I'd just bought one to enter.
Motor Triathlon Race Car (4WD Challenge) - nice car, wrong place to win it.
Citroen 2CV (2CV Race) - as Subaru 360, and won elsewhere too.
Benz Patent Motor Wagen (Classic Car League) / Daimler Motor Carriage (World Classic Car Series) - One of them would be forgiveable, but two one-horse carriages from the century before last is just too much.

...but without doubt, the worst prize car has to be...

Nike One (Saleen S7 Club) - already had one from passing the B license, unraceable in the usual sense, and unsellable. Would work well for golding a license, but not for another manufacturers one make race. A Saleen mustang would have been a much more appropriate prize here.

Some of the other prize cars awarded did seem out of place, almost as if they had been randomly chosen ('hot hatch' volvo wagon) but at least these prizes did introduce me to cars that I might not have otherwise bought.
