There's no way in hell an SCCA member who races regularly got beaten by a stock Civic...especially if he was in a modded S2000. A stock S2000 with a semi-****ty driver would eat your car alive on a straight, and especially through the twisities.

He must have been really high, really drunk, half asleep, and not trying.

see this is why most people have a hard time believeing me. I wil try to explain.

You guys are stuck on the car. And I admit the car is much better than I am. However it is the driver now Im sure this guy can hold his own. But when it comes to cornering he brakes too much The only way i was able to beat him is by not slowing down and forcing my civic to stay in the corners using left foot brake. With LFB I force the car to do what i want. For those of you who dont know LFB it is a rally technique for AWD and FF cars. For my car i go full throttle into a corner and stay full throttle now normally the gcar would understeer and keep going straight rather than turn right? well I add a little brake with my left foot. This shifts the weight towards the front of the car thereby pushing the front tires down gaining more traction and that helps me to clear corners at a speed that can not be normally achieved by conventional driving. Now the trick is to use gas simultaneously. See the braking shifts teh weight but you need to get the wheels to keep turning to claw around the corners. Its not something that can be done at a whim it takes a lot of practice.

If you want to try it you need to train your left foot to overcome its lack of tactile sensation. I practiced normal braking situtations with my left foot until I was comfortable to the point where i can push the right amount of braking power that I desired with my left foot. Next you drive thru a rather wide turn and when you car starts to squeal and slowly stops turning add a little brake. Now that critical point when the car is going so fast that the front has lost traction there is a fine line of how much lefb to add. I have added too much on some occasions and my car oversteered. Yes it is possible to over steer a FF car. the weight shifting went so far forward that the back tires lost traction int he corner and slid out thereby spinning my car and for a brief moment my car drifted.

Of course all of us here understand the immense stupidity to perform such unnecessary actions in a car on a public road. I have done so on notso well traveled roads and I rationalize that in the event of a real emergency I will be able to cope and control my car with a somewhat level head and possibly reduce any damage or porblems.

i still believe you. a bad driver can be really slow even with fast cars. but i dont believe you beat him in a drag race, and i dont believe he was as fast as you said. it sounds like in the last post you said he was a bad driver, but in the first you said he had quite a bit of experience.

anyway, i dont have to worry about that technique because i have a RWD car!! it has a bit of oversteer if anything, definately not understeering.

Not if one puts good quality mods from reparable companies on it. Honda is one of the most reliable car manufactures in the world.

Okay, so the S2000 owner doesn't know how to drive...which is hard to beleive considering he's an SCCA member who races quite frequently, but...whatever.

It doesn't matter how good the mods are. If you modify any car's motor it won't be as reliable.

Um, not necessarily. What if you beefed up the motor's internals with better, higher quality, parts?

it was never a drag race. This was a race in teh mountains. He is a good driver its jsut im faster in teh corners is all im trying to say. im not caliming to be better than him and what not

Here if I drove an S2000 like his and we raced im sure he would whoop my butt. however I happen to know my civic somewhat well and I know how to manipulate my car to not have to slow down in the corners.

well you if you modify the motor as a whole. But if you go out and take a stock Civic and just slap a Turbo on it your going to have problems. But if you go through and buy all the right stuff then it will work.

Everything is good if you set it up right

Members of the SCCA are not pro or even amateur racers. They are just members of a club. It's not like the guy gets paid for this or anything....

Yes, I know this, but he's a member of a driving club that races frequently at two different tracks, and he has a modded S2000.:odd:

Wouldn't you think he'd know how to freakin' corner?

One would think, but then one would be just making presumptions. And we all know what happens when you presume: you make a PRES out of U and ME.

He could be coming in dead last every time, for all we know. I'm sure you've heard of the LA flyboy who drives his purple Diablo around to autocrosses, pretending to show off from time to time. Possession of a fast car does not make one fast. It just makes one a possessor of a fast car. :)

All hail the mighty Hummer.

Excluding the S2000 and NSX, IMO Hondas are only good for old people, people who dont give a **** what they drive and carting around the family. Not for street racing!!!

Heres the Bottom Line ladies and gentlemen

If you guys didnt know, Honda is Acura as Toyota is Lexus.

Japanese cars are way better advanced in technolgy than american cars. Japanese engines push out more horses plus save more gas, and more reliable for its small size. 240 horse non-turbo, none- supercharge out of a 4 cylinder 2.0 liter engine, thats smart. what american car can compare to that?

When you compare cars, you must compare them to specific class, exmaple, Engine size: You cant compare a 5.0 engine to a 2.0.
American cars are powerful muscle cars, but they have to have Big engines that waste alot of gas. We only have 90 years of Fuel on the planet. Time to be smart like Honda, why you think Ford Bought the idea of Hybrid cars from Honda?

Japanese cars might be a lil less in power but their Idea and concept of their cars is far smarter. Japan are Taxed higher for big engines becuase its a small country. Imagine is japan was as big as america. Their Hondas are ecomony cars, in a small country you must be smart and go ecomony. wich is very smart indeed.

You have posted that in two threads so far. It was pointless in Cars that put Japan on the map, and it is pointless in this one

so your saying that a Honda Element would be better then my Blazer? Please.

Also lets try and keeping the swearing down, I don't want this closed. Thanks
