What do you think the GR.2 class will stand for? POLL

What do you think the GR.2 class cars will be?

Predictable with delayed content tho. :sly:

Still, I wish they make a Category called Gr.F in the future specifically for F1 cars with there own called Polyphony's or FO series.
That's actually sounds pretty good. Like you can have a Polyphony Formula F3 F2 and F1 would be pretty cool to me :dopey::D

I'm with @GTEFGHA , @Imari and @Robbks on this one.

It seems unlikely to me that a Gr.2 class will suddenly appear.
I see no reason why a certain group of cars would be left to model last, nor why they wouldn't show a few if some had been modelled.

I'm also fairly certain Kaz has said that the cars are grouped into 4 different classes.
And we already know of 4. ;)

Yeah, the cars can be unlicensed like they were back in GT3. PD's liveries or we can just make our own replicating real ones.

Five including Gr.B. Unless there are a heck of a lot more road cars and Gr .4 cars I just don't see how we're going to get to 140 cars with the classes we have. Gr.3 is stacked already, Gr.1 doesn't have that many missing unless they're going to include a bunch of old privateer LMP1s and I figure a lot of the VGTs are going to fit in there.

Now am not wishing for anything at all but knowing PD just assuming they might just might add both Nissan Lmps the zytek and the lm nismo am just guessing.

I think 65 cars filling Gr.4/B/N will be easy.
We have a new Gr.3 car in the M6 GT3. Easy to fit a Huracan, Gallardo, Viper, Ruf, 991, etc.
The total will rise rapidly if we get vintage cars and more Rally cars. Then again, I guess representing the manufacturer thing comes into play.

I doubt we'll see a Gr.2.

I don't think they'll include the Nissan LMP given it was a flop in real life.

PS You can wish all you like in this thread.

There are many cars that were crap irl that made it in Gt such as the Minolta 88c-v

Yeah but not 20 seconds off the pace crap. It was a disaster. If they included it they would have to simulate a version that never existed in reality, one that actually performed to LMP1 pace. Plus the Nissan is modern, more people are going to know about it than an older car so I can't see Nissan wanting to show it off.

It should to me

You're not making the game, though. Polyphony does weird stuff sometimes.

So like Windows then?

Yep. Like Windows, like Xbox, like Battlefield, like any number of companies who think it's fine for their product naming to make little sense.

Most likely. Hell, In real life we still have GT3 and GT4 categories yet we haven't had GT2 or GT1 since 2010 so I don't think having a Group 2 would be a big deal (though I since someone's OCD is going to be slightly triggered).

Basically this. Motorsport category names have been weird for a while now. Group 1 seems to be based on LMP1, Group 3 on GT3 and Group 4 on GT4. Group N makes sense because there's a real world Group N. When looked at like that

I'm not sure that there's a motorsport category that they could do with a 2 in it that would make sense. GP2 or Formula 2 maybe, but they said no open wheelers.

Group N can be pretty broad, and will probably have to be. There's already been discussions of N200 etc. Given that including race versions means they can double or triple count cars I don't think they'll have much problem just filling out GrN and Gr4 and leaving it at that.

Only thing I can think of without open wheel cars is possibly LMP2. Of course that would depend on PD actually modeling other LMP2 cars and that's a big ask considering they only managed one.

We haven't seen any japonese tracks yet and it's a safe bet that there will be at least Fuji and Suzuka. If we see a trailer with this two tracks and no Super GT cars. I guess we can forget gr2...

By the way, where is this small car manufacturer called Honda? Not a single car yet.

Well yes, 5 including the rally cars.
But I'm sure you know what I'm refering to.

Your point regarding filling the car roster is a good thought.
Personally, I see a few more cars each added to other groups, but the roster largely filled with Gr.N and Gr.4 cars from here on out.
Particularly if we have little (or no) tuning/aero parts options available.

So with 64 cars still to reveal (cheers @Samus ):

Gr. 1:
Alpine VGT
Audi R18 TDi
Bugatti VGT
Chaparral VGT
Dodge SRT Tomahawk
Hyundai N 2025 VGT
Mazda LM55 VGT
Peugeot 908 HDi
Toyota TS030 Hybrid

Group B:
Ford Mustang GT Premium Group B
Ford Focus Group B
Mitsubishi Evo X Group B
Subaru WRX Group B

Gr. N/road:
Alfa Mito
Alfa 4C
Audi TTS Coupe
Aston Martin One-77
BMW M4 Coupe '14
Chevrolet Corvette Stingray '11
Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat '15
Ferrari LaFerrari '13
Ford Mustang GT Premium '15
Ford Focus ST '15
Jaguar F-Type
Lamborghini Veneno '13
Lexus RC-F
Lotus Evora '09
Mazda Roadster S '15
Mercedes AMG GT S '14
Mitsubishi Evo X Final Edition
Nissan GT-R '12
Nissan GT-R '17
Peugeot 208 GTi '15
Renault Megane R.S.
Subaru WRX Sti Type S '14
Toyota SF-R
Volkswagen Golf Mk. VII '14

I can see enough gaps in these three categories to easily fit 64 cars personally, especially in Gr. 1, which I doubt I'd ever race in if it were to stay as is. Gr. 1 currently looks more like the VGT Cup, Group B only has 4 cars so not much more needs saying, and I'm seeing lots of performance gaps in the Group N/road car category. I can easily see 64 cars being distributed among the above categories without it seeming excessive, and if anything I'd prefer it to them fitting in another class as it would be, in my view, to the detriment of the racing.

I think I see PD putting in the NSX GT3 that has been testing the last few months in the game. I say that because
1. They did get cars before their official 'release' (Corvette Test Car)
2. It's a Japanesse racecar
3. Honda so far has no cars in the game like you mentioned.

It's a japonese racecar made by Americans but yes I agree it's very likely.

I think if GT went outside the current FIA system and also expanded to other current racing series, I could see the ranking system like this in GT Sport (Car classes are in order of performance):

  • Gr.1: VGT racing prototypes and high powered VGT GT touring cars, LMP1, Group C, NASCAR
  • Gr.2: Classic Le Mans, LMP2, GT500, GT1, LMGTE*
  • Gr.3: GT3, GT300
  • Gr.4: GT4, DTM, Rally
  • N-Series: All street legal cars and VGT's (balanced by performance points).

*There is a fine line between the abilities of GTE, they can be tuned (commonly to fit GT3), but as a base class car they are reasonably faster than a GT3.

***This list might change.

I's like to see GR.N in two variants too.
Tarmac and Rally
GR.B as your wild, modded WRC-Style
GR.N as it is in real life with thecontrolled production models.

  • Gr.4: GT4, DTM, Rally
Yea, no. DTM is pretty much on par with Super GT (GT500) in terms of designs and specifications, which has already been said before. DTM would be Group 2.
