What Exactly is Assetto Corsa Competizione? 505 Games Registers New Domain Name

I would bet again on a FIA WEC partnership for eSports. Said it a while ago (when talking about the licensing manager's trip to Paris) but it seems even more likely now.
fia's hq is indeed in paris, place de la concorde. It was either that or a deal with the psa groupe, even if i doubt peugeot and citroen (with all the due respect) could get the priority over more famous brands for the next AC game/games. So i'd say the first guess is more likely and if they can throw the m8 gte in there..even better!

I doubt it, too. Aston Martin, Jaguar, Lancia, Dodge, Honda.. plenty of brands that could easily receive more attention and hype than Peugeot and Citroen.
I also think a deal with a new manufacturer would have been teased in another way and with a different timing as well, considering that a major sequel isn't exactly around the corner and announcing a new brand out of the blue would feel weird.

That's why I thought about the FIA and a potential partnership with them. Now, keep in mind that mine is just a guess, nothing more, and I'm don't even know how It could work.

Marco said we will find out soon. I reckon the 21st is Soon. So I think we could tie in Paris, Competizione, with Soon.

Well, it was for the Blancpain GT (facebook.com/BlancpainGT/posts/2086086881409103). Close enough! And, by the way, I think the Kaspersky Motorsport livery for the 488 GT3 was a hint!

GT3 cars bore me like few other things in modern racing, so that Blancpain notification honestly worries me. Popular cars in online multiplayer though, so I wouldn't be surprised if AC wants to capitalize on that in some way.

Feel the same. At least we can expect full regs and timing which should cross over to any AC2 type game. Who knows, maybe this could just be an addition to ACC which combines Blancepain and AC1 type content.

Hopefully it's not only Blancpain. Hopefully all the old cars return, sort of like how Dirt Rally had normal rally stuff while the Word Rallycross was only a small part of the big even though they have the license.

Well we got the answer to that questions guys. Its :
"Assetto Corsa Competizione is the new official Blancpain GT Series videogame...."
So only GT3 cars.

Hard to get excited over GT3 cars only. They're one of the most boring racing groups in my opinion. I'd be more interested in seeing how the physics change from changing the engine. That was the one thing that really makes AC stand out from the other games.

...game is going in beta program from mid this year and cars that you see is what we get in beta. Now knowing Kunos, I doubt they will stick only to those cars, but since they have licensing agreement, this is what we'll get first...

Stefano was asked about the physics...Here is his response:
Physics was one of the very few things we could salvage and bring over from AC1 to ACC moving to UE4, everything else needs to be redone from scratch.

So from any point of view you can consider ACC physics as a direct evolution of AC1 physics with the added bonus of not having 170+ cars to update and check if we decide to make substantial changes.... this is giving me, Aris and the new physics dev that joined us Fernando the opportunity to get in pretty hard in some areas and make some substantial changes that we couldn't afford to do with a big released product like AC1.

We'll have plenty of time to dig into the details of it both before the EA and after, I'll just drop one big one here tho. Although it's not really something we'll see fully utilized in ACC because of the nature of the tracks we are going to include but the physics engine is now running full blown 64bit math all around, so, as far the physics is concerned, there are virtually no limits to how big a track could be, we could literally race to Mars and back without suffering much precision losses in the calculations... again, not really something that will create a huge change in ACC but still a thing I can geek out and be happy about. :D
:D

That description only tells you what is in the game. It does not mention exclusivity nor does it tell you what is not in the game. It is far too early to leap to any conclusions as to what the game will look like in its entirety. It could very well be a game that is made in partnership with the Blancpain series and very limited in scope or it could simply be that Blancpain is a sort of title sponsor and it includes very many road-going versions of the race cars plus other vehicles.

But... from the response re. physics:

edit: not quite sure why this thread is still living now that we have a reveal thread!

That only confirms that there isn't 170 cars. Doesn't mean there isn't 50. Doesn't mean there isn't two different racing series involved with 25 cars in total. Doesn't mean there isn't an added spec racing series in addition to the core series. Until I hear exactly what is included and what is not included I will continue to keep an open mind.

I'll keep an open mind... and car count (and variety) expectations low. That comment suggests to me somewhat the opposite of "very many road-going versions of the race cars plus other vehicles". So sure, no conclusion, just weighing what little hard info we have so far to guess the most likely possiblity.

If it is just GT3, that wouldn't really allow for DLC... so maybe spec series as DLC?

Pretty much a given that I'm buying it whatever, so this is just chatter :)

Agreed. If I had to guess I would say the best to hope for would be the core series plus a supporting series plus a spec series. That plus all of the Blancpain tracks plus a few more thrown in for good measure, if we're lucky, would be more than enough for a go-to online racer. It also wouldn't surprise me if it was just the Blancpain series and nothing else. No matter what it includes though, it is a definite buy from me because it has the Kunos name attached to it.

Its possible that they just release GT3 at first with the intention to have it an issue free game on launch and fully featured, then perhaps release DLC with support series or something. Too much to need to know,

Well they give the same answer (on twitter) when asked about car list:

Examples:

Q:Nice news, really! but ,little question, are you.going to bring content from AC 1 to AC Blancpain? Thx
AC:Nope, this is an Official BLANCPAIN GT SERIES title
1f642.png
Hope that helps!

Q:....Will this only have the GT3 series or will it be like the original AC and have other racing cars like Formula 1, LMP1 etc.?
AC:This is an Official BLANCPAIN GT SERIES game
1f642.png

They did not give a full car/track list but their answers are a good hint imo.I mean they keep mentioning the same thing: Its an OFFICIAL BLANCPAIN GT SERIES game. They wont say yes or no but from my point of view its pretty clear.

We surely have to assume they can not, and will not release a game with only 10 tracks. That is not a good proposition, unless they say it's a cut price game. That's half of AC's game which main complaint was lack of tracks.

Without ACC, I don't think AC2 would have been any closer anyway.
That's true, and I can only hope that a proper sequel to assetto (in terms of content) is still on the cards at Kunos. Considering the amazing level of quality put into their handling model, it would be a sin if street cars, group c, gt1 and many many others would never see the light again in one of their games.

Agree. You would have to assume that with how much they love their job and the fact they get to visit places and cars (Porsche, Ferrari) that there is no way they would just put all of that behind them and never do road cars again. Maybe Assetto Corsa: open roads is on the cards for 2 years time lol.

Pure speculation on my part but I think they have been approached by various motorsports organizations and individuals (that's not speculation) and this deal with Blancpain probably seemed to them the best way to get their feet wet with the Unreal engine without having to take on the task of doing a huge game like AC2 out of the gate with this unfamiliar software. I think they'll get this up and running and be fiddling around with various street cars and vintage race cars in the same software back at the office to see how things go before they decide which direction they'll head in the future. I'm sure it's exciting times for them at Kunos and this more limited opportunity probably fits with their objectives at the moment.

That's pretty much how I see it.
