What have you done to your car today?

I hate flaring brake lines. There's the one style I can nail perfectly every time (bubble, I think it's called?), but for the double, I might have to go through several inches of pipe before getting. Nice work đź‘Ť.

Nothing today, but I'm looking for new 16's tires. What do you guys recommend I think the current bald tires are 195/65/16.

We need more information:

- Budget
- Use (all-season, summer only, winter)
- Type of driving
- Car

Oh DA9 Teggy, budget doesn't matter, type of driving: obnoxiously brutal (only when pissing off the neighbors LoL), weather doesn't matter either. I wasn't specific, it's more of the tire size, the lower the profile the better but I'm not to sure if there's anything lower than 50R's on 16's.

They have a 45 profile, I don't know about any lower.

Since the Falken Azenis RT-615's seem to be raved about by so many people, you might want to check them out.

Niiice knew I'd get a good answer on GTP! I was wildly thinking of 205's up front and 195's in the back but I'm not sure if I'm gonna have the clearance with front coils set how they are.

Installed my clear turn signals and marker lights to replace my broken left signal and right marker.

That's coming along pretty nicely, the front bumper looks a lot better now that you painted it too.

And something I've always wanted to know, on a car with pop up headlights can you just make it do that lazy eye thing with the light switch or do you have to install something?

On mine, I just had to pull out the manual headlight switch and snip a brown wire. Basically, it cuts the power to the relay for the lights, so they only move as long as the button is pressed in. This lets me put them wherever I want.

I can't have the lights on though when it's like that, because it resets itself and they come up the whole way.

EDIT: Should be doing my manual swap here in a few weeks. Can't wait.

[EDIT - too slow]

The car does look nice, though đź‘Ť

EDIT - 10.15

I finally got a day off that wasn't bitter cold or snowing (actually in the 60s!), so tonight a friend came over to grind/cut off the radiator support.

EDIT - 10.18

Final disassembly before support work:

Old support cut off (always wear safety glasses when around a grinder! ... I got shot in the eye with a spark :dunce:)

New support welded on

This morning I had time to put a fender on and start with the plastic wheel well. Then it was dark by the time I got off work. Same crappy schedule all week. Little by little until my day off, I think Wednesday, I guess. And it's supposed to get cold and snowy again before then.

Huh? They were free with the Blazer too. If you go to any Discount Tire or Belle Tire in the area they fix your punctures for free. I would never pay to have a tire fixed.

well, here they never are free, unless the car is reasonably new etc, or if the puncture has been caused by structural flaw. Also, all-season tyres and gravel roads = guaranteed puncture.

17$?! dude, you were so ripped off..

$17 isn't bad.

I took it to our normal repair shop (Shell) which is literally one minute from my house. Car would have never made it to discount tire without me putting the spare on first.

In preparation of the Steigmeier massaged M45 blower that's coming, I installed my boost gauge to make it official that the car will get boosted. :D
Other than that, polished the car up this weekend and more work coming next week.

Took the car to the shop to finally get the dreaded running on 7 cylinder problem fixed. Turns out it was a hidden wire near the PCM that went bad.

New spark plugs (needed them badly) and a K&N air filter (could have gotten away with a paper one, but I decided to spring for the good stuff ;)).

Oil change with a complementary speeding ticket on the way home from school >_>

At least the cop was nice to me as to how he acted and also took 11mph off the ticket (which made it still a 10mph over ticket on the freeway, do the math). Still, $160 oil change all in all plus whatever the insurance hit is gonna be.

You live in Michigan right? I wonder why the cop stopped you, 91 on the freeway isn't that fast.

I-96 Westbound just past Telegraph.

Kinda pisses me off seeing as I should've known better after seeing one cop on Telegraph shooting radar, going past him at circa 55mph indicated (50ish real) and him not doing anything...

Holy crap you got pulled over on I-96? That's a challenge. Sucks to hear you got the ticket though, good thing is you can probably go to court and have the points taken away.

Looking a lot better already, Maybe its just the photography but the car almost looks likr its a nice metallic maroon. Are you planning on a full respray or just the front bumper?
Wheels look cool too.

Snapped an AC condenser mounting bolt. Yet another thing to add to my junkyard shopping list. All in all, I half-installed both the condenser and radiator (lines hooked up, but hit snags in mounting), then called it a night. Lots of taking things apart and rebuilding to get them in easier.

Replaced the front and rear differential fluids on the Montero. Transfer case is next, along with the fuel filter and transmission. Stupid slushbox...

Threw my snow tires on because the weather was in the negatives for a solid 2 weeks and I got sick of driving around on eggs for the first 15 minutes of driving. Since then, the weather has been in the high teens. :ouch:

Went out and sucked out the leaves from my quarter panels (don't ask me how they get there) and gave it a wash in order to have it oil sprayed tomorrow. I've come to realize that the birds in my neighbourhood hate me.
