What have you done to your car today?

When it gets to the point where you can see it like that, it's often too late. It destroys everything.

Wheels came in. Mounted them on the car with a set of aluminum lug nuts. 👍 This week I'll be ordering new rear springs, installing new bumpstops and lowering the car about .25".

"Traction A"? On RT615s? Are they kidding? Aren't 615s "Traction AAAAAA"?

Nice, practical choice... how's sidewall flex on that size?

Not sure. Haven't really pushed them really hard yet. Maybe this weekend I'll get a chance. Really need to get the steering rack swapped out. Not used to this four turns lock-to-lock stuff.

615s are supposed to be great autocross tires.

Four turns? Don't have an extra Miata rack you can swap in?

Yeah, no kidding. The plan is to swap in a power steering rack that has been de-powered. Then swap in a pinion gear from an Integra rack to bring that down to 3.2 turns lock-to-lock.

Unfortunately the water pump decided that it wanted to die on my way to work this morning, so I will be doing a whole timing belt/water pump job before any of the steering stuff.

Very nice looking Civic 👍 Just please don't destroy it like Perfect Balance did with his just after he got it looking awesome. Or Keef with his. And they say it's RWD cars that get people into trouble...

No plans on destroying it currently.
Well thats good:tup:

I did battery stuff!

The terminals were apparently the root cause of the buzzing.

I also Modified my battery case to have a smaller battery in there!

Plus I made my Buick have the rx7s cone filter..and Did another royal purple oil change since about 9-11 months ago

Keef didn't destroy his, he had a blowout.

"I" didn't destroy mine either, but it was completely my fault that it did get destroyed.

Changed the CAI filter & the cabin filter today. Need to change the oil soon as well as throw in some new gas.

Stupid question: Would filling up with anything really over 93 octane be overkill? I've heard it doesn't damage the engine, but it won't do anything more either.

Higher octane = better detergents. If you plan on doing an "italian tune-up" (which is really just an excuse to drive balls-to-the-walls for a few miles), it's nice to put in some high octane to take advantage of that... but if your car is built to run on horse-water, there's no real need to.

Added some coolant, and made another weather strip for my rear slider window. Celebrating my 6 month with her tommorow afternoon in a sandpit, then movies with the girlfriend :)

Got the car jumped today, rescued by the little Honda. Battery was dead as can be, wouldn't even attempt to turn over. 8 minutes later, Acura sprung to life again.

Now she needs a new battery, oil, & a wash.

Replaced the broken water pump tonight and installed a new timing belt and tensioner. Kit didn't come with oil seals, which I though it did. Didn't have time to get new ones so just left the old ones in. As usual things didn't end up right and the timing belt is off a tooth or two. Car was hesitating all the way home. Turns out the timing is super retarded. Even advancing it all the way only put it at TDC. So it has to come apart tomorrow so we can fix the issue. :(

Oil change yesterday. A few days ago I noticed the radiator had cracked... my third since New Year's Day. Today I bought a thermostat, coolant, and stop leak, so hopefully the snow melts soon and I can put 'em in. I've had enough of the cheap plastic Advance radiators - even though it probably wasn't their fault - so I'm getting an all-metal one.

Very nice wheels on the Civic, btw!

They're pretty darn solid and real grippy. The tires are vevry responsive compared to any other type but then again it's hard to tell what's what through a Civic's chassis.

Darn, if you would have said something, I've got two good ones sitting here in my room waiting to be sold, lol. You elected not to put the red Enkei stickers on? Also, I happen to have a bunch of Si parts sitting in the garage if you're interested. Front hubs, brakes, sway. I was going to say the lip too but I forgot that's still laying somewhere in New Jersey. Cruise control? The Fidanza shifter should be easy to ship. I know what you need, some Password strut tower bars...

Well my windscreen broke the other other day, got a rock flung at me from a lifted truck that didn't know what mudflaps were. The chip was about the size of nickel so I got it repaired today, it's still really noticeable but after the huge crack I got in 2008 I didn't want to go through that again. Plus it was free.

I re-attached the union nut between my clutch pipe and slave cylinder today. After struggling for far too long with the bolts holding on the slave, I'm going to take it to a garage, but to get it there I'm going to use what I've been calling the "leaky bucket" method, of filling the system with fluid, enough to use the clutch, and hoping that it hasn't all leaked out again before I get to the garage. Anyway, it's not going to cost too much to have the work done because I already have the parts. Most garages charge a fortune to get the bits in and I've saved a good £50 by buying them in myself.

Oh, I know Keef didn't kill his through any fault of his own. I used the phrase very generally.

Here's some pics of some of the goodies.
First, here's where I removed some sheet metal from the 'blu to gain access for the battery switch.
I also used some caterpillar grommet along with some Scotchkote to help insulate the edges so that there's no chafing of the battery cable on the metal.

Here is how the battery box is going to look in the car.
This is the only place that I can mount it so that it doesn't interfere with the bracing. I'm hoping that at this point there is enough room for nuts and bolts to hold down the battery box won't interfere with the gas tank once it's reinstalled.
Tell me what you think, good, bad, or otherwise.

I hate the fact that the box is so big and nothing smaller is made that has the quality of this Jegs box.
But to meet the various sanctioning regulations I have to go with it.
I'll probably wind up using the extra space in the box to house the jumper cables and some kind of basic tool bag etc.

Oh and a random shot of my ricedom under the hood. Enjoy. :D

Now I've got to finish up the rewiring of the alternator/ starter and then start on the gas tank removal.

^Sweet!

I filled up my 3 cars:Buick got an abysmal 152 miles gone with 12.6mpg...I blame the cone air filter that makes a cool noise for that. The Rx7 actually managed what its kinda/supposed to at 180 ish miles gone and 15.6 mpg. The Eclipse.....well it was $30.50 on the dot to fill up but I will not have a clue for MPG around town b/c both the odometer AND trip-ometer do not work. But on the plus its the first time in about 4-6 months that its had a full tank of gas!

I couldn't tell you how long it's been since I've filled up the tank on the 'blu.
But that will come soon once the car is finished.
Oh and about 40 mpg on the Toyota Paseo which is the daily driver and 25 mpg for the Porsche 944, my weekend ride for now.
I was getting about 28mpg with the Cavy before she went into the reconstruction.

That's 90 extra horsepower right there! And all under the hood... so it's a sleeper!

Gas tank removal? You converting to a fuel cell?

In the future but for now, I've got to drop the tank so I can install the battery box which is right on top of the gas tank.
I'm hoping there's enough room to be able to mount the box without the bolt heads hitting the tank when it's reinstalled.

I won't know this until it's dropped.
This is about the 4 time I've dropped the tank on this car so it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

How come? Did you put it away foor winter or something?
