What have you done to your car today?

Lemme know how that works out for you... I want slightly better handling but dont want to remove my speakers....or subs. So I would only get a front one anyhow. Or do you have a rear one?
This is just the front.

Drove it and had a hell of a time in the process, it's amazing how quick you can fall in love with a car.

Is it drove or driven? I'm leaning torwards driven...

:( Sigh... Told gearbox man to order parts 2 days ago, thought he had...He rang today, said "You know those cables...yeah well the price I gave you for $500 bucks wasn't right, its actually $500 bucks EACH". Oh, great :( But he has ordered the pivot seat, and some new bushings and will fit it all including the short shift kit that arrived yesterday. And if that doesn't improve it, then it looks like I'm spending another 1300 bucks... Project cars... Looks like the wheels and suspension will have to wait a little longer.

On another note, bought some radiator flush and fresh prestone premixed 50/50 coolant for it, along with some new hose clamps so I can re-do the radiator hoses properly, then flush the system.

And going to wash my other car so I can take photos of it to sell it, but I kind of don't want to sell it, even though it is a piece of crap, because even though I can use my work vehicle a lot of the time, its nice having a car I can take somewhere and leave and not have to worry about, and put my bike in, the GT-Four lives in the garage and will only come out when i want to drive it, not just when I need to nip to the shops, so I can keep it in the best condition possible.

BUT it does waste money on registration, and I could use the money to do more things to the GT-Four...

Today, I replaced my window regulator! Hurray plastic. Everything worked the first try, so that's good (surprising, too!) Now, it's time for a BEER!

I lent out my GP to my mom and sister (actually they just took it without asking) and they went out shopping.

When they came back they told me weird stuff happened with the car. The heater started screeching like crazy so they had to turn it off.

Then they said the radio turned on all by itself to the all mexican station.

It's like the car knew it wasn't me driving.

Gave it a quick wash and scrubbed the hell out of the wheels, looks much better. Tomorrow i'll clay bar and wax it. Never used a clay bar though, anxious to see the results! That drivers side mirror doesn't look to bad for coming off my dad's Mazda B2000.

Keep me up to date on the DW's, my tires will be cooked by June and I'll be looking for replacements. The DW's are high on my list although I don't know if I'm ready to try Conti tires again.

First update. I really like the ride, the grip and the quiet. But I noticed that they were drifting all over the road. I'll get it aligned to make sure that wasn't the problem. I could have also just been too tired to be driving at that point as well. But I'm sure I'll have plenty of opportunities to look into it more.

I drove my car.

I have driven my car today.

Pretty sure that's the right usage.

Lucky... Mine is stuck in Seattle while the movers ignore it... :indiff:

If you're planning on keeping the mirror on, you should paint the passenger side mirror black to match.

Why paint the original one when I could just go to the scrapyard and get a another off a B2000 (for the price of painting it?) that would match? ;)

Either way illbe buying a actual miata mirror for it sometime.

Haha, I was just demonstrating the usage of drove/driven. Although it was probably true for what I did that day. Its rare that I don't drive at least once on any day.

But a few days ago (Thursday - March 25th) I got new tires on the Civic. 225/45R17 Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Spec. I do have some pictures but they are still on the camera. I'll get them up here in a day or two. Fitment looks wonderful and they grip even better than they look.

Killed my front drivers side shock absorber :guilty:

It was on the way out anyway, but it seems having a little fun on a dirt road after it had rained was a bad idea. It's not completely gone but it's definitely bad, not looking forward to replacing it. You should see what it looks like under the hood :ill:

This is what happens when you don't read the context... :dunce: My comment still applies though. I'm still jealous.

Is this Civic a daily? I have to wonder how those tires are in the rain. They look very grippy for dry roads, but there doesn't seem to be much in the way of moving water out of the way.

Yeah its my daily. So far, they've even impressed me when it was 34F the day after they were installed. Slightly wet roads at the time too. They're certainly better than the stock all season Michelins it had. They rate really well for wet weather.

Yesterday I washed the Civic, and made this:

I don't know why its not available in 720p (also still shows processing for me, so it might still be doing some work in the background...we'll see) but it looks terrible compared to source video.

^ Very nice 👍. I wasn't aware of a Saab/Spyker relationship.

Eric, are they a hard compound? I've got Falken Ziex 512s on now and they dont wear all that well in the fast curves. They're nice in the snow, but I've been looking for some sturdier tread for when I start upgrading the suspension this summer.

Alright, youtube's got that video up at full quality now, and I've added a couple annotations.

Hard? I'm gonna say no. These are more or less in the top three summer tires you can get, but are about $40-50 cheaper per tire than the absolute best (or tied, depending who you talk to) options, which are a Bridgestone RE-11R or Yokohama AD08. Wear rating is 200. Other Civic guys are getting 15k and more out of them as well as several autocross events.

Nice! Also, Fear Factory FTW.

Went to the post office and picked up a parcel. Inside:
-Aeromotive compact adjustable fuel pressure regulator
-6an fitting and some braided stainless line for install of regulator
-Walbro 255HP fuel pump with install kit
-Fuel Injector Clinic 650cc injectors
-The world's grungiest 4g63t valve cover, free of cracks and with all threaded holes intact. Soon to be cleaned and painted, hopefully the same Bronze that Volk uses on their wheels.

Still need to get the ECU socketed and chipped, so the new fuel stuff won't actually see use for another month or more.

Not been on here properly for a few days, the MX5 went in for it's MOT this last week but failed on a few front suspension issues. Got it back earlier this week with all that sorted and a gearbox oil change. Feels loads better but my wallet is a lot lighter.

The weather here is epic so I needed to do something outside. I busted out the cleaning supplies and crack open a couple of beers. The Cooper is now washed, waxed and polished. I even polished the black plastic. I didn't get to the rims yet because I ran out of daylight. Probably do that this weekend.

About once per summer I take off every wheel and clean both sides of them. Everyone who knows that I do that thinks I'm crazy.

That sounds awful. I didn't even clean the wheels all that well when I took them off for the winter.
