What have you done to your car today?

Dropped the subframe in to get sandblasted today, should be able to paint and start reassembly on the weekend if I get time...

Brake line gave out. I used hand signals and handbrake to get to my employer...they were nice enough to loan me one of the work trucks so I could get here, to school.

Car's at my employer, dad (my boss) is gonna bring it home on a trailer.

Took it to the dealer. My airbag malfunction light has been yelling at me for the last couple weeks. I figure I should probably get it looked at. Typical VW electrics...

Damn dude, that had to have been slightly frightening.

Thankfully, it happened at a stoplight on my way to Bradley University. Pumped the pedal a bit and it went straight to the floor. I was able to pull off and call Dad, (had some brake fluid from an earlier job, put it in, I could hear it squirting out somewhere as I pumped,) then the real harrowing part...driving across the river (complete with steep bridge) and in a busy, hilly downtown area, less than the speed limit, during lunch rush. I was using hand signals (had the hazard flashers on) and hand brake, only pressing the footbrake to turn the taillights on. Got it to the place where me and Dad work, Dad was about to take me to school, then his boss came out and offered me one of the work trucks as a loaner.

Now I have a white K1500 Z71 to use as a loaner. I call it "USA-1," if for no other reason than it's white and it's that long lived Chevy body style. The other guys just call it the "White Truck." That truck's steering's light and sloppy, it's got a floppy frame, and you don't use the 4WD, because it cooks the front diff (or it did last time I used it, may have been fixed, I dunno,)...but at least it will get me where I need to go until "Percy" gets fixed.

Sounds similar to what happened to me two months ago. Was on my way to the shop (ironically) to get some dyno-time and one of my steel brake lines decided it didn't like rubbing against a steel bracket so much and blew. Pedal went to the floor.

At about a hundred and twenty.

Miles.per.hour.

Good thing I had a lot of clear space in front of me, and the brakes still worked, albeit not very well. Had a can of fluid in the trunk, topped off, and gingerly tiptoed the other twenty miles to the shop on three brakes and a handbrake.

Now I can't get the brake fluid stains off the wheel... but that's not a biggie. Had the lines rewrapped with rubber tape to keep any more of them from abrading.

Yeah, I imagine driving with the hand brake only must have been frightening... At least it wasn't one of those newfangled push botton ones, right? Even a foot pedal would be hard to use...

I picked my car up from the dealer. Apparently one of my CV boots is torn. Also, the engine cover is cracked and I'm missing an unnecessary part of the intake is missing (I've know that for a while) and my oil cap got broken by the oil changing place to the point where it's impossible to twist off. Yippee Skippy. I'll be back to the dealer next week. Good thing I bought that warranty.

Meth injection tank was losing fluid over the past few weeks.

Pulled it off today & pressure tested to find that a bung in the bottom of the tank was leaking.

Threaded it out, wrapped it in Teflon tape, and threaded it back in w/ an epoxy bedding. Better not leak now.
Note to self: Urethane sealer does not hold up to alcohol.

Was probably a foot pedal given the vehicle... Which means holding the release.

And yeah, push button parking brakes fail.

What have you got the injection installed on?

Pretty sure its on a Talon TSi, the one in his avatar.

Uh, yeah, you never use 4WD on pavement. The front tires turn together at the same speed, or try to. You'll end up scuffing with the inside one and putting a ton of stress on the diff. Probably some on the transfer case too.

Yeah... missed that one... would like to know how much extra power he's getting out of the spray. Been thinking of transferring my system to my regular car and off the diesel, since my diesel truck doesn't make more than 6 psi and doesn't really need it.

It's an AE82, so, like it's RWD brother, it's a good ol' hand brake...

Yes, I daily drive a 22-year-old car.

Well, it was on a VERY icy day a couple years ago, and I was crossing the river. Does help one who doesn't exactly have the throttle control of a pro.

EDIT: Well, here's the culprit....

Yes...the solid brake line to the left-rear wheel, after 22 Illinois winters, has rusted through.

I bought some new uber-Pennzoil, which strays from my usual Castrol edge, does that count? :)
I'm wondering how this "extra-cleaning" works, if at all, and was to curious to say no.

BRAKES! SWEET BRAKES! I CAN STOP AGAIN!!!

The entire line...and just this one line...from the left-rear to the brake-line manifold was shot, rusted all the way up to the firewall. We ended up replacing it ourselves, took only a couple hours.

oh, yes, that sticker...

It's on a little crooked, but it's there.

Washed, clay barred, polished and waxed in preparation for the Moab car show next weekend. No pics. Just imagine my car, only really shiny. :D

Oh, I did purchase the exhaust manifold I need to start my turbo project. :)

Just locked the keys in the Miata, good thing I opted for the roadside assistance when I got insurance! 12 bucks over a span of six months, awesome. I would try to get it myslef, but I don't have a hanger and it's really coming down outside.

Got hit with a ton of rain these last few days and today I noticed one of my $105 front tires that I just bought in December is almost completely bald... yeah, my axles have gotten so worn that my LSD is no longer sending power to the driver side.
