What have you done to your car today?

washed and waxed it... took off stupid dealer sticker... and then got it dirty again

Anyway, I spent a few more hours with the wiring and let me tell you, doing it right is hard work.
But I love the way it's turning out so here's some pictures to show you how I did it. :D
Here's the finished hot side all wired up. The only thing I need to finish is adding the 200 amp fuse to the setup.

Here's how it's wired on the inside of the box. I still have to work on the 'life line system' but that'll be the last thing I'm going to do since it shouldn't be that involved but run a wire and some simple hookup.

Some general shots of how it's eventually going to look when it's done. The ground still needs to be finished but I wanted to do what I could today and finish up the next chance I get in the next week.

Here's the finished product on the hot side.

That's it for now and I've got some more exhaust stuff coming so that I can prepare for the exhaust once the wiring is done.
Another couple of weeks and it'll be on the ground.

My dad and I fixed the air leak in my throttle body. We had it plugged with a rubber cap and some tape until the VW replacement part came in, doesn't run as rich or make a terrible whistling sound now.

That 6 looks great! 👍

I washed the GTI with ONR today. The sun was setting when I did it so I'll have to inspect it tomorrow. There are some water spot looking things on the hood which isn't too promising.

- Removed the bent steering rack bracket, re-bent it back to where it should be, and re-installed it.
- Installed my energy suspension sway bar bushings
- Washed all the bugs off the car from my weekend trip
- planning my cv axle replacement, oil change, and brake fluid flush before saturday's track day.

Where are you going to run at the track day and which car, the Civic?
I'm jealous and good luck.

Grand Junction Motor Speedway. It's actually a Kart track that's .9 miles in length, and 32 fee wide so it's big enough to run cars on. 👍

Just got back from running. Other than my IACV freaking out on me all day, the car ran great. Changed the oil over to Redline 10W30 last night in preparation for the day. Handled a lot better than I thought it would. Loving the Falken 615 tires. :dopey:

My best for the day was a 1:08.801 in the clockwise direction. We usually run the counter-clockwise direction though. The fastest time of the day was in the 1:03's. (motorcycle powered Lotus replica)

Awesome stuff man at the track and seemingly a good time too.
Must be nice to have a place to actually run your car instead of the streets.

Our track days are only every six weeks, so when I need a speed fix I hit my favorite curvy road late at night on the weekends. 👍

Had a quick squizz at fixing what the audio technician couldn't fix for The Cereal Box; the rear speakers were causing interference/engine noise when they were wired in. Turns out the tension beam in the boot was hard on the magnet on the bottom the right-rear which was causing the interference but I couldn't really do anything about it at that stage so I left it as it is.

Also started giving Cereal Box a quick once-over and clean for a motorkhana that's coming up which will hopefully give it (and me) some semi-racing experience.

I got a new headlight control switch the other day so I finally put it in today. Now my headlights and dash lights both work at the same time again. It was a pita though because I couldn't find my smaller tool case with the extension in it thus I could not remove the steering wheel so I could fully pull out the dash trim behind it.

Does anyone else have a hard time finding their tools only when they need them? I hate that.

No problem finding mine.
I know where everything is as I'm meticulous about it.
I also clean up after everytime I'm in the garage so I'm fresh to start on the next project.
I need a life. lol

^^^ One of my friends is currently ditching his oil metering pump and switching to pre-mix on his '89. He just recently switched out all the bushings with polyurethane and did a bunch of other stuff.

Built in a pair of these in the Corsas front doors today:

The flash device will be in tomorrow or the day after, so in the weekend I'm going to remap the turbo. :)

Replaced my water pump. Then the car overheated on the way home. Nissans and their need for an absolutely air-bubble free cooling systems...

Pretty much true for most cars nowadays.
No bleed screws for the engine to eliminate this?

Actually I've only known the older Nissans to do this. Most cars I've experienced nowadays can run around with half the coolant missing without overheating, they just have crappy heaters.

There is a bleeder screw, I just didn't get all the air out. It's fine now though, I've topped it off.

I received my used cargo cover for the Rex and can see that it's missing a few parts to make it perfect. An unimportant button is missing, and one of the pivots that attach to the front of the cover is missing. Beyond that, there's nothing in my car for the pivots to even hook to but something is obviously supposed to support them. I'll need to check out some drawings at the dealer to see what parts I'm missing.

EDIT: Found the parts I'm missing but it turns out they're not available from Mazda anymore. The parcel shelf was a very expensive option package on Turbo models, the whole kit cost a $630. Wow. I also need to repair my driver's seatbelt slide rail, which costs about $1000. I'm not paying it so I'll have to rig it somehow.

One time I took my old Fiesta in to be serviced they put a whole bottle of coolant on my bill. It took quite a lot to convince me that it was required because I'd never seen the temperature dial move more than half way, even in the middle of summer, after hours of driving and in a traffic jam.

Then he showed me what they'd drained out of it, and there was about a quarter of a cupful  So yeah, not all cars need the coolant to be perfect...
