It has been awhile since I last came here on the forums of GTp.
But with the new launch of GT Sport the hype and anticipation of playing GT on PS4 are growing with the day.

Lately I have been over thinking the possibilities with GT sport and the new e sports movement.
I like the thought of a virtual cup and pro drivers competing for real world prizes.
It's not a new concept but definitely new for the GT series.

And this is were I begin to wonder what the future will hold for GT.
If I may recall, there was a time where KY was talking about a real world simulation a la Forza Horizon.
Maybe GT 7 will never happen like its predecessors, but is the franchise cut into different genres.
The hardcore racer type, and maybe (just a thought) a more casual open world car culture game with all the classic cars of GT.

What do you guys think?

And if someone can point me out to a video of the concept Idea video of an open world GT.
I know it was a GT5 or 6 screen saver like video with the Honda CR-Z driving through a city.
Thanks in advance.

No concept video of GT being an open world game has been shown. On the other hand the menu screen in GT5P showed an all-white city from above with cars driving around. Also Kaz mentioned that GT5 would have a city for freeroaming, where you followed traffic rules etc. Remains to be seen if this ever happens to a GT game. I'm sure GT7 or 8 or what they call the next game will become known shortly after the winners of the FIA Cups get their trophy.

It might exist as Gt6 did, a last throw of the dice on a console already obsolete and replaced..l the benefit of that? I don't know.

Because GT Sport could realistically be the last one.
How do you know? And sorry for being aggressive, but if you search through last 2 pages of forum you will find threads saying exactly same as yours.

Edit : Sorry, I misinterpreted your post.

GranTurismo is realistically the only driving game that is also, a Sony Playstation exclusive.
The series has been around for more than 15 years, with the next title coming this fall and focused mainly on the Esports and Online functions, is even te first game of the series to introduce FIA sanctioned races and to let you become a registered FIA online driver. Do you seriously think they would do this just for only one game? Online focused even? Kaz's always been informed about car culture and more "street" or "niche" stuff but i think the purpose and main goal of GT is and will always be actual motorsports rather than the umpteenth Need for Speed with street races and stuff.

So future boy @cocoflowa tell me, who's President of the United States in 2020?

Ronald Reagan, and Jerry Lewis is Vice President. Oh wait, that's the wrong future...

I don't know which thin air coco picked his dates from, however, to me, either November 2018 or November 2019 would seem the most likely candidates for GT7 (if/when it arrives). But then that is just a much a guestimate as coco's (based on the release dates of the last game and the next game and the intervals between the same).

There will be a GT7, Sony will make sure there's one as it's one of their biggest franchises. Kaz and PD aren't the ones making decisions in something like that, it's Sony and I can't see Sony splitting the franchise unless GT Sport is a massive success that outsells the biggest GT games so far.

Then GT7 will never come and people will go about their day and/or complain about it.

Don't hold your breath waiting GT7. I believe we'll see GTS expanding with DLC in the future.
Anyway, the most interesting thing is PSNeo and the Neo version of GT Sport.
According to the rumours, for example Giant Bomb writes, that game developers have to make two versions of games, for PS4 and PS Neo, starting this October.

Hopefully Sony will clear things for us at E3..

What if I told you GT7 will come (warning: spoiler alert!) next century!
Lol, jokes aside, considering how GT6 was built upon GT5, I'm pretty sure GT7 will be based off GTSport. Also, given how it is much easier to develop for the PS4 (Kaz personally had a say in the development of the console itself), it looks very promising!
