Why do we like cars so much? What in the heck draws us to them?

Hmmm......

Well, if you have a reason, post it.

This thread better get good hits, i know that each and every one of you must like cars. How could you go to a forum called "GTPlanet"???

Well, our facination with cars is probably because it makes us go much faster then we can go without them. And the rush of being in one/going that speed.

...or perhaps its just the perdy colors? :drunk:

it something that we can show our individuality let our minds dream and to enjoy the thrill of driving and exploring new and exciting new models

Well, cars are peices of brilliance, power, and good looks. It's also about freedom, to drive where ever you want, to have power to break laws, and to have a reason to go somewhere.

You can vent anger, take a break, and have lots of fun driving a car.

It's also a thing of pride, wealth, and property. It lets you say, "yea, that's my car".

Just think if we didn't have cars, and we had to walk everywhere. going on a vacation would be going to the next street over. racing someone would be running. Shoes would be the leader in the market.

I'm just glad someone came up with the idea of "car".

Heh, well put Maz.. well put.

I agree with everything MazKid said, plus...

Cars are just so cool. There's so much to like about them. Even s*** ones. I mean, there's so much engineering, and marketing, and testing and everything going into making them. They are a feat of humankind's abilities. Every look at a ship, and go "Wow, some little people MADE that!!"? It's the same with cars, although on a smaller scale.

And then there's the fact that there's so many cars, and so many people. You can think of all the cars in the world that you think are rubbish, but they're still being driven around, because SOMEBODY likes them. Everyone has opinions on cars, even those who claim they don't.

And when you get to driving them. It's a skill, an art, a science. You can always learn new things about driving whenever you get into a car. Even if you're just going down to the shops, you can still do it by driving well or badly, and you should always strive to drive well.

Cars. Huge, complex, technical, interactive, social, liberating. Great. ;)

I am sitting here pondering just exactly how to answer this question.

Everything that has been said so far has made sense, and is very true.

In a way though, I feel its in our blood. A feeling passed down from generation to generation. I can remember being 4-5-6, underneath the hood of dad's car, with him explaining things to me. You could hear the pride, the love in his voice. Its something you pick up on. Something understood.

Well, if you hate school, just leave some marks as you pull out, they like that. ;)

And if you know someone on the road, like someone you hate from school, just fly past them and cut them off. A little road rage isn't too bad... ;)

Mine is more an appreciation of machines. I enjoy looking over devices and seeing what the designer had going on in his mind and what he was trying to achieve or what emotion he was trying to evoke by a particular shape or design. I enjoy driving because it is my innate desire to master a device and use it to its fullest potential.

Cars let us get away from it all, are a very good mode of transportation, and, most of all, they can let us express our creativity (i.e. - Ricers :D ).

KC, I couldn't agree more. I love cars more then women (most of the time, definetly not during sex). And if I were to write something meaningful here it would be exactly what you wrote. Good job.
