What is left for PD to do to GT5? (Part I)

Great thread - good read.

Some things are already mentioned but wth....
-Garage button every were, he have it online, we have it in seasonal events but for some odd reason it isnt in practice mode or in test mode.
-Multiple Favorites/ Custom folders in garage, IMO this will make the garage faster.
-New Chart/Graph for Transmission Adjustment.
-Give us an option to skip scenes like engine rebuild.
-Road Car category for online that is my top priority.
-The tyre wear model needs more work or a slider to adjust it.
-Weather/Time Change for all tracks would be a nice.
-Chase camera Dynamic on/off option.
I dont have any issues with it, but that PD changed it without writing anything at the update log and without thinking that some may experience physical issues, is unacceptable.

But the oscar goes to....
-The Home interface.....a 2 year old monkey would come up with a better layout.
Just the fact that the Tuning shop is the last icon on the right and the garage is at the far left says a lot.
Let alone the licence icon that is the most useless icon/place and no matter what, you pass over it and is bigger than e.x. practice.
But the stupidity of the design shines even more when you realize that there is much easier way to fix this without the need to redesign the entire screen.
Just by adding 2 icons/buttons 1 for GT Auto and 1 for Tuning shop at the bottom of the screen of every car were the sell/description etc are.
For weight reduction/engine upgrades and oil change lets assume that PD for some reason finds it difficult to implant them in Car settings, but the 2 shortcut buttons? i dont think that is difficult.
They should be able to add shortcut buttons in more places.....
Like
GT Auto and garage in Tuning shop
Garage and Tuning shop in GT Auto
GT Auto in Practice if its that difficult to add the option to change oil in car settings menu.

Another thing that would be nice, is to add 2 options in the shortcut menu of the cars in garage.
1-Change & Go to Tuning Shop
2-Change & Go to GT Auto.

In general IMO PD should focus on giving us more freedom, more options, let us cut some corners and spare us some time.

Give us "levels" of AI competitiveness.
In Arcade & Seasonals stop the nonsense of going from way back or last to win the race. Let the system randomly generate a start position.

Sometime later in the week I will post Part II. It will touch on the AI, B-Spec, Pit Strategies, Track Creator, Timing and Scoring information, Aero Packages, Race Modifieds and a few other topics.

I think the thing that makes GT5 fans so passionate and critical is just how great the game is as it is. PD got a lot of things right. It is very, very close to being a near-perfect game. If it weren't, we'd have scrapped it long ago.

That's a pretty long list of things to fix for a near perfect game. Just saying.

Was hoping they would update A-Spec and make it deeper and more immersive. They already have the tracks and the cars, so what's stopping them from creating a whole load of races and championships using a wide variety of restrictions/exclusions.

Just looked at the GT3 and GT4 A-spec - so much better!

Yeah, but also increase the A-spec and B-spec level! :dopey:

Great post.
I´ve read it all and its pretty damn right IMHO.

I think they could add a race music control "in Race", as a simple change, and the best improvement they could do would be the simulation of "air" on the tracks to avoid the tuning glitches for getting top speed, for example.

Talking about tweaking and updates,

Thrustmaster TH8RS support...

Where are the handbrake and sequential features of this great shifter?
(put in the analog handbrake option then as well)

It's really strange as t500rs support is included.

Anyone feel the same?

Make an announcement that GT5 will continue to be updated monthly until GT6 releases on PS4 the payday following E3 2012 or Feb 14th 2013 (height of tax refund season in the US). The "other console" has stomped its foot yesterday, it's time for PlayStation to steamroll that sucker!

By the "other console", you mean the Xbox. Will it burn your finger to write the name of a rival product of the one you bought? From competition comes emulation; from emulation comes excellence. I say, long live the Xbox and Forza if they can make the Playstation and Gran Turismo better! :dunce:

Message boards are not the same as reading a book.

Quote of 2012 so far... :ouch:

A paint preview system

Ability to delete individual lap times

Improved engine sounds, with a slider for wind noise, transmission whine, etc.

Ability to select opponents in Arcade mode

Tweaks like this will make the game so much better IMO

Is it? This game came out in 2010. 1 year, 2 months and 3 days ago. In my opinion, within the confines of a gaming console, this game is unmatched in its longevity. I know there has never been another game in my lifetime I have played for even 6 months. I still play this game very, very regularly. I think it says a lot that we are all still here on this site after all that time.

I relate it to a beautiful woman. If you are only around her a short time, you only see the perfection. But after a long while, you realize the imperfections of burps, farts and poops. But those imperfections are okay because everything else is so great.

That's why I say near-perfect. Any other game and I'd have moved on after 6 months or less and never really noticed all the niggling little things. It is only because I've played this game since Day 1 can I see those flaws. But the true sign of the near-perfection lies in the fact I have played this game since Day 1. And most here have as well.

What happened to GT Driver's Club?

+1

More racing events on high difficulty with less money.... It's too easy to get money now.
This is a catch-22. Before, you had to grind...for hours and hours...to buy things. There may have been nothing as pathetic as "rubberbanding" for hours on end.
But now, since I can make 4,000,000 in less than 30 minutes, I own (7) Alfa Giulia TZ2's. Every time I hit the 20,000,000 cap, I buy another.
I think it be more well balanced again once the B-Spec Special Seasonals go away.

Personally i think the game is in an ok place right now, there are a few little bugs to fix but the game is generally still fun to play. The 2 major issues i have are the disappointing A-Spec and the online experience as a whole but they are not going to be fixed in a patch. Hopefully PD are working GT6 for the PS3........
