But wheres the function, practicallity, and most especialy affordability, thats the way I see the best car in the world (I know its kinda boring for you guys out there).

Thats why I like the Mega because it has both function, and practicality

There's a million and one different catagories you can judge a car on to say it's "best."
However, for an 'overall' status, I'd opt for the:
Ford Focus 2.0
- and -
Lotus Carlton
Both, for what you pay for them, offer, in my mind, everything you could want.

In terms of sheer greatness:
Ferrari F40 - Even though 'better' Ferraris have been made, this car still blows my mind.
Honda NSX - It seems it'll never die. Dated, but still a favourite. One of the best drivers cars in the world today?
[UK] Ford Escort [MkI/MkII] - I think I'm right in thinking it was Fords most successful rally car. They are a sub-genre to themselves. A very special car.

i'm a sucker for jdm silvias and skylines. also, ever since i laid eyes on one as a lad, the two-seater, twin-turbo 300zx has occupied a special place in my dreams. i can't decide if i like the new 350z (why did nissan do away with the turbos?), but i give it credit for looking like nothing else on the road (except maybe a certain audi).

sure they may not be the fastest cars in the world, but they are attainable (at least to some degree).

oh, an interesting side bar. my trusty 1.6 liter nissan sentra shares nearly the same drag co-efficient as the koenigsegg cc! now there's something to write the folks at home about ... heh!

I am not going to bore you with a long paragraph about what I think. But I know, and you should know, that the Porsche 911 GT2 is the best car in the world. The Mclaren F1 is more powerful and faster. But I think that I could pull off quicker laps in a 911 GT2 than a Mclaren F1.

I am just saying that I know that I could use the Porsche to my advantage. i.e. Its extreme rear weight bias.

It has better lateral grip, the same 0-60, faster slalom and (WAY) shorter stopping than a Mclaren F1. It also has the same 1/4 mile with not as high of a trap speed as a Mclaren F1. The top speed is of course its greatest downfall. Here are the stats for anyone who chooses to deny Porsches POWER!!!!

Oh I didnt read that you liked the F40.

I was refering to snZEROZEROpie2001 about the F2002 thing. Id rather have an F40 than a McLaren F1.

Also I wasnt saying that the RS500 and scort cossie were the best cars ever, I was just agreeing with ya about how much they rule.

In my opinion the best car in the world would have to be, the Ferrari F355 (argh I hate it hate hate hate god what a contradiction!) but thats just my opinion.

The McLaren F1 is the best car in engineering terms in my opinion, but it's apparently very hard to drive on the limit. The Pagani Zonda C12S offers almost McLaren performance for less money while looking much sexier (IMO) and apparently being one of the best handling cars as well. I would therefore prefer the Zonda.

People always ***** and moan about how bad the Pagani Zonda's are at handling. I love them, especially the engine.


The Mclaren F1 is an excellent car, but its almost like its the default best car in the world now, and people dont even try to think about other cars in a "Best Car on Earth" debate.


I urge people to have an open mind about what the best car on Earth is. There are plenty of cars that would be within a few tenths of a second behind a Mclaren F1 on any race track; And I am certain there are cars faster around a track.

I have read plently of motoring magazines that have said the Zonda is one of the best handling cars they have ever tested. I think it was evo in the UK who said it was even better than the Mini Cooper S, even on the road. The thing is, speed isn't everything. If you add practicality and space to the equation the new twin turbo S600 is probably the best you can get.
