What Is The Best Car To ENJOY The Nurburgring 4 Hours?

I just acquired a Falken GT-R to prepare myself for it. Indeed it seems to be very stable and controllable, but stock on racing hards I run 9:00 laps which is not good enough.

What would be a good tune for it without completely destroying the nice character of the car?

What are the AI running?

It isn't as simple as saying the AI runs a certain time with a certain car. If you use a much faster car, the AI will run faster times. If you can run 8:40s, you can beat any car they might throw at you if you are consistent and can use some pit strategy.

My choice was the Sauber due to not wanting to lose but not wanting to destroy the competition. Won by 4 laps which is crushing but not destroying

Dude, 4 laps on the ring means you were 30 minutes ahead. In a 4 hour race, that IS destroying. You could just as well have taken the X1.

have it paused at 1,5 hours right now! You probably won't believe it but I am only 6 seconds behind the leader (Spoon S2000 GT1). I'm driving to my full capabilities non stop and now I really need a break lol. We both just did a pit stop and man I'm seriously having a blast, as I have took the PERFECT car and settings for my skill level.

I'm driving the F430 Scuderia, stock weight (1350 KG) and only minor upgrades (ECU, Air Filter, Exhaust) totalling at 540HP. I do have all the aero upgrades since I am driving on Sports Medium tires :scared:

Really have to give it my best to win this, as the opponent cars have less weight and much more power, they own me on the straights! The only difference is that I have balls of steel in the high speed corners, and the AI does not :mischievous:

If I lose it in the end, I can always switch to racing softs in the last 30 minutes :P

That sounds fun! That is what I am looking for, I want to win within max. 30 seconds difference to #2 car :)

Maybe I´ll try the Scuderia, thanks!

just wondering if anyone else has given it a go in the

Alfa Romeo GIULIA TZ2 carrozzata da ZAGATO CN.AR750106 '65 ?

I been trying to find the lowest HP car I can beat this event on and so far this is it.

At only 173hp stock its the lowest HP car I can manage to win in.

It isn't easy but its a superb car to drive and gives you an epic battle all the way to the finish.

I ran a best lap of 8:52 and averaged around 9min laps.

Luckily I could do 4 laps before pitting without losing huge chunks of time like the AI who stays out for 5 laps.

When the Ai is on there 5th lap you can gain huge chunks of time on them as there tyres are shot.

I love the cockpit cam on this car, the guy moves his hand up to some button on the dash before changing gears its quite wierd but first time i've seen it :)

Thanks for posting. I think that's going to be the next car I try it with.

Assuming you mean the race that is full up with powerful ricer cars and race cars then i'm not sure.

I originally intended to do this with my Mclaren F1, as standard, but the car destroyed its tyres too fast, 2 laps was the maximum on a set of tyres, as in pitting in on the 2nd lap. So despite being faster than the competition i ruined my race when i tried to do 3 laps on a set of tyres and the thing wouldnt even go in a straight line by the halfway point of lap 3, the AI last about 4 laps on a set.... I'm not sure how i'm meant to compete with that without driving an overpowered machine. Perhaps the Mclaren F1 is a lot more abrasive to its tyres than other cars.

I made a thread a few days ago that might have helped with questions like this:

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=173896

Basically, it asks for us to create a database of what lap times the fastest AI manage for each event in the game.

Then, if you want a competitive race, you find which car YOU enjoy driving that posts similar lap times, or maybe one just a HAIR faster, so you can recover if you make a small mistake.

The thread is still open, if you think that this might be of use, please bump it back to the front page and start noting the lap times every time you do an A-Spec race (you only need write down the fastest).

Thats a pretty impressive feat for a 173hp car .
I have to assume you did not have the Audi R8 or the S-2000 GT1s in the line up. It would be close with the HKS CT230R.
Without those cars, thats the lap times you would need to pull off the win.

One of the problems with many cars is the lap time drop off of the 4th lap when the tires are worn (especially racing-hards). This can kill your average and put you out of the running.

Actually that isn't a button but the gearstick itself which sticks out very high in this particular car.:)

indeed, and it is a very beautiful car! very fun to drive, have seen it in real life and it sounds great. Just a piece of history. Good to mention this one to compete in the nurb.

Setup? Mods?
Tried this one (fully stock), after lap 2 I was 11th, 48sec behind the leader (S2000 GT1) :ouch:
Lap 2 was a 09.18 💡

I'm going to this in the 4WD 1991 CELICA, at 172 BHP stock, I feel I should get it to at least 300, and add some racing softs.

no audi R8 but there was a s2000 GT just 1 though and he was in second.

he was stuck behind first place for about the first 4 laps and i was on 3rd. i kept it to a gap of 3-5secs during those 4 laps and then i had to pit. they stayed out and probally lost a good 30-35secs and i managed to be in first after that.

was still very very close at the end i only won by 15secs

forgot to add i put racing softs on.

I was amazed at how well the tyres lasted, I didn't change anything other then the tryes, and i had all settings off including ABS.

I found with this low a HP car having ABS off meant i was quicker since i didn't have to brake as much.

I spent a good 3-4hrs just testing different cars in practice, i did about 8 laps in this in practice mode before i gave it a go.

my first few goes i was in the same position as you, had to reset after 4 laps many a times but i stuck with it.

I think it was luck more then anything since the s2000 in my race was stuck in 2nd so i could keep the gap manageable.

you have to just stick it out and when they stay out for there 5th lap they WILL lose heaps of time.

If you can manage an average of 9min laps you will be fine by the end of the race, its just a matter of being able to do that for 4hrs.

Ran the race yesterday with the Cusco Impreza with the High RPM Turbo(~380bhp) with RH tire. The S2000 GT1 Turbo caught and passed me on the 3rd lap and went out to pull out a lead. I stuck with my plan of pitting every 3 laps and on my 2nd set of tire the GT1 Turbo was struggling on his 5th lap on the first set and I made up a 50 sec gap and passed him. And it just kinda went on like that. Won the race in the end by I think ~4 mins. Fastest lap was a 8:33s.

Just did the 4 hours in a aston martin db9, it was very fun for the first hour or so but once i settled in the car was just abit too fast still......maybe something around low 300bhp would be more equal.

Serious fun though even when i was just alone love the car 👍

As a matter of fact I did some experimentation this morning on your original question about a lower HP car for this race.

There is a lower HP car that can be used in this race.
I won the race with it at 3 minutes 50 seconds over the 2nd place S2000 GT1.
And a fast lap of 8:46.556
Pitted every 10 laps.
Bone stock HP and no weight reduction.
Can you guess which car?

Whatever it is is epic not having to pit for 10 laps!
