what is the most annoying in GT4?

I've found something really annoying to add to my list:

PD somehow messed up car specs, as example the Bentley Speed 8 was in a TV show and the showed the car datas. They said it redlines at about 8.000 rpm. Well in GT its only 6.000. And yes, it was the 03' version.
And it produced 450 instead of over 500 HP.

I can only guess how much cars PD made with false engine specs.

:grumpy:

I don't think this will happen. Not being able to save your progress in enduros adds to the realism (though you can just pause). So I doubt PD would introduce it, and I'm happy for that.

Yeah, but if I remember correctly in GT3 the pause button just clicks continue by itself so it wouldn't stay on pause for more than an hour. I can't check now due to the fact that I can't find my GT3. :grumpy::grumpy::grumpy::grumpy::grumpy:

Here's my list of everything I can think of:
  • Track records do not work (Not since GT1?) as in they do not remember times when you go back to a free run on a track where the fastest lap has been set previously on the race screen (driving HUD).
  • Not being able to stay in a race until ALL cars have finished the race so that final race times are fully available.
  • AI - poor awareness, bugs such as glitches on Le Sarthe, sometimes poor speeds on track and also their pitstop management is bad (FGT's at Nurburgring).
  • Not being able to carry across removable parts between identical models of cars (used to be able to do this in GT2 if I remember correctly).
  • No day/night pattern in endurance races.
  • Sometimes line-ups for races can be too unbalanced.
  • 5 second penalty, it could have been a decent idea if it was better implemented.
  • No saving in endurances. Powercuts :nervous:
  • Not being able to skip whole laps in replay, again this was possible in previous GT games.

Are you sure that was GT3 or your sister did it? :sly:

I miss being able to qualify, size up the competition and tune accordingly in a series.
That 5 second penalty really bites when you get it because the AI put you in the wall. In watching the replays from the AI point of view, the AI makes all sorts of contact (without penalty) that would have given YOU the dreaded 5 seconds. I have absolutely no respect for the AI in Special Conditions.

I also hate how you buy a 4.5 Million credit car, and when you sell it, even when you didn't drive it or modify it, it's worth less than 1 Mill now.:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Only in GT1 could you carry parts between identical cars..and it was a programming oversight, not intentional. Also, I think you could only skip replay laps when watching time trials, not during actual races.

You can qualify/practice in series races I've noticed. But for single-shot races (Sunday Cup for instance) the only thing we can do to size up the competition is go into "view race" instead of "entry". In the first few seconds of the race it'll show you a car and how much power that car has. Do this 3 or 4 more times to view other cars & their power and you start to get an idea of how you should power your own car.

That's depreciation for ya.

Yeah, PD occasionally gets the engine specs wrong in all of their games. At least they used to try a bit harder, though. GT4 it's so obvious they put power, torque, and rpm specs way on the back burner. 👎

Just to get things right, I missed something: with only 450 HP instead of 500 I mean the Auto Union Streamliner, not the Bentley Speed 8! The Auto Union redlines well over 8.000 rpm! In GT4 its only 4.000.:scared:

 What a weep... how the hell do they get the RPM redline over 4000RPM below what it should be? :dunce: I guess PD doesn't know too much about old german cars, while they pretty much know everything there is about japanese cars. (Example: Skyline R34 shows that it has 276HP before you buy it, then after you buy it, it has 320HP-342HP, just like in real life.) 👎:indiff:👍

OOPs guess I wasn't paying enough attention there.

On the other hand, a single driver wouldn't dare attempt a 24 Hours enduro by themselves, would they? (Don't the teams usually have 3-5 drivers for those?)

So I think they should at least have it for the 24 hour races if they bring those back.

AI hands down. I can't count the number of races I have lost because some car behind me just rams the way through. Kinda defeats the purpose of driving to hold position.

Configuring a car just to outrun the field gets old. It's not really racing. I really wish the designers would put a lot of effort into the AI rules. You would think that the AI could function based on position and geometric angles in relation to any car in front of it.

Pit stops - allow adjustments to some of the tune settings.

For those who want damage, I think the AI issue needs to be addressed first. I'd be taken out every race if there was "damage".

I'd like to see a larger field and not so many fictional tracks.

Although I loooooooove the game, here's my bitch list of GT4.

1. AI, either too hard or too easy on the series/open races....I have to go Family Cup on AI + 10 with my 11.6 DC5R to get an evenish race, and even then it's a bit touch and go.

2. Getting nudged down the Mulsanne straight at 400km/h and ending up doing 3 or 4 360's while the AI car just keeps on marching by.

3. Fact that lots of mad used cars from GT2 went bye-bye in GT4 which were great for rally (323GTR & Pulsar GTi-R for two).

4. Bitch-Spec Bob. Nothing more needs to be said.

5. Las Vegas....should've been heads-up & had a competition format against great cars for drag racing.

6. Difficulty of doing mad brake jobs with most cars (eg. like stock S15's that normally rip it up at a clutch kick)....hook the NOS up and it's a different story. :mischievous: That and 4WD cars doing RWD burnouts!?!?!? I want to see my 900hp R34 or 550hp Evo 8 MR ripping all 4 tyres off, not bloody two!! :grumpy:

7. Only 1 opponent on Tsubuka Wet....I want 6 cars drifting in the wet, not freaking 2!! :grumpy: Same goes for the rest of the rallying....even though it's been this way since GT1, I want multiple opponents in the dirt ala rallycross!! :D

8. Especially for me, unrealistic wheelspin for FWD cars....come on fools, we've got R5's on the front, give us bloody traction for better 1/4 mile times!! :grumpy:

As for the penalty thing, you CAN whack the other car without receiving the 5 second penalty........you just need to be infront of the stupid AI when you do it!! :sly: That or just slam them hard, get infront and block like a madman!! :D

That's about it off the top of my head. Anymore bitching I'll add to it later. :)

Mafs!!

PD occasionally makes mistakes just like we do. Some of them are minor while others are massive. I'm sure the environment necessary to design a worldwide game with over 700 cars must be fairly hectic so not everything gets done correctly.

For me the most annoying thing is losing be a fraction of a fraction of a second. I missed the Ford GT mission by 0.003, and the trail mountain R32 gold by 0.006.

That and cars bumping me, it doesn't happen that often, but is very annoying when it does. Especially in New York where the AI braking point is way off for the first corner after the hairpin.

I'd like to see a larger field and not so many fictional tracks.

This has been said before I think but the lack of Australian, European, and other world-based tracks that are household names (compared to the over-abundance of obscure Japanese tracks) is kinda annoying.

...I always keep in mind GT4 is a great game and the things that are great about it far outweigh the annoyances or minuses. I'm struggling to think of bad things! :)

Oh yeah, we really needed all those different configurations of Motegi and Fuji. Mid-Ohio or Road America would've been nice. Maybe a Brit track like Goodwood or Silverstone.

O yeah, Silverstone would be awesome, i remeber getting cars like, Mitsu mirages, 4door r33's, that weird Van, and i liked all the different cars, heck, I could get my dad's accord. But GT4 couldn't do that, not a chance.

There you go. Sebring. Bathurst...I know and appreciate how difficult it must be to travel with an entire crew to document various tracks around the world, and I'm glad there's a ton of new tracks in GT4, but again...bla bla

The god awful airhorn sound on rally races. I actually turn my sound off for those.

What I hate is that frickin' ditty music they play at the beginning & end of some races

HEY, I TURNED MY MUSIC OFF FOOL!!!! All I wanna hear is the sound of my car revving up!! It's like PD is trying to slick up the game a bit or something.

Finally....where is my Boss 302 Mustang??? The car Parnelli Jones made famous in those 60's and 70's Trans-Am races? I thought for sure they'd at least have a 2nd-gen stang by now...whether it be the 302 or something with a bigger engine.

As many before me have said, its gotta be the A.I., just too dumb to drive well or the B-Spec driver and his moronic mistakes he makes during the simplest race

I like the concept of the B-spec driver. Whenever I take a break to watch TV I'll let him or her drive around a track or race a bit.

My question is: does B-spec eventually get to the point where it corrects its mistakes? There seems to be a bit of intelligence at work here, how far does it go?

Overall I feel that GT4 is the best of the series and although it does have a fair number of flaws they're more than made up for by the good features. For biggest annoyances I'd have to go with these:

The five second penalty. Good idea badly implemented.

Brain dead AI (but that can be used to your advantage sometimes too).

Yet another race on Tsukuba/Suzuka/Fuji? *sigh*.

As for B-spec, yes your driver can be improved. Take a look at this thread from the stickies above.

Ok whats AI?
1. the handbrake
2.Lack of competion(only 6 cars)
3.The 5 second penalties in the rally races
4.Why some cars twich and twitter going down a STRAIGHTAWAY
5. Why it takes sooo much money to be competitive in the compact series

Other than that THIS GAME OWNS!!!!!👍

Maybe it was already mentioned, but sound of the cars are annyoing too. PD got only 50% of car sounds right, the other 50% use totally different sounds than the original car. As example my beloved Toyota-7. Here is a youtube video where you can hear the 5L V8 sound of it. (Turn your speakers on!:dopey: )
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bP7b1kp08g

I love GT and PD, but what did PD think doing totally different sounds for cars? Did PD think we would be so stupid that we would not notice it?
